No. That's literally it. That's the secret to making it. Not buying a deprecating asset+insurance+mechanic work+gas is too muchWalk 2 hours to the nearest train station if you have to. >But I live in a rural areaGet out. Get out now. I don't care where. I don't care how. You need to leave. Look around you. How many people in your rural area unironically made it? While remaining there? It's a trap anon. You have to escape.
>>60965336impossible it would take me 2.5 hours one way to work without a car. Bus, metro, bus walk and then another 2.5 hours back.. that is insane lol

>>60965349yea if you wfh then no point having a car truei am trying to get a wfh job but no luck sadly
>>60965346So move. Get out of there. You can pick the place. Just get out of there. You're draining your wallet.
>>60965349If you can work entirely from home, your job is already dead by AI
Just don't be dumb with your car purchases. I'm due to replace my 2009 Honda Fit. I'll probably buy a used Honda CR-V next year for around 20k cash. Average person is paying 45k for a new car and paying $700 a month on this car loan. Don't do that! Also maintenance is killing people. Even basic front brake jobs are costing a lot of money now. If you could just do your own things like brakes, oil, and filters you would greatly decrease your running costs.
>>60965336Honestly, an escooter is pretty much all you need if you live in a city. You can get a 19mph 16mi range escooter for $110 off Aliexpress. And if it breaks or gets stolen, it still costs less than a single month of car insurance lmao.
>>60965381No. Sell the car. Burn it. You don't need it. Society is lying to you about it being a necessity so that you can stay a poor wagie your entire life.Don't believe me? Track how much your car payments, insurance, gas and maintenance cost a month, times that by 120. That's how much money you miss out in 10 years. This is why you haven't made it.
>>60965381If you don't know how to do a brake job yourself, you should kys
>>60965405Here was the first year if you want to dive into the autistics. I need a car. I live an hour from work, about 30 miles. Lucky I only need to go into the office 2 days a week with the other 3 work from home.
>>60965336you can buy a decent used car for less than 10k. how can any man over 18 not easily afford that? 3rd worlders have cars. illegal immigrants have cars. they arent that expensive
This is an okay price for a used CR-V. Would be nicer if it was closer to 20k, but car prices are still high.
This desu. Sold my large manual diesel truck (the last line of Mitsubishi tritons that were available in a manual) the week my daughter was born, right in the midst of COVID when used cars were skyrocketing. Paid $40000 in 2017, drove it for 5 and a half years, thrashed the fuck out of it, and a dealership bought it for $30000 on the spot start of 2022. Started taking the train to work or walking and in turn increased my fitness and lowered financial stress on my family.
I've been driving my 93 shitbox for like 12 years now. I've wanted a new car, but also 100k in my savings and now investment account is a better feeling. Not to mention my 260k in total. I'm really glad I've been such a minimalist fag.
>>60965482>93 shitboxHow is that even possible? In 1999 I bought my first car, a 1989 Buick Skylark. Couldn't imagine something even 4 years newer lasting this long. Then again that car died from hitting train tracks and my next car (a 2001) died from another car hitting me. But my next car (a 1999 Hyundai) was dying of old age. You must not live in an area with bad winters. 1993 cars here are destroyed from the road salt. My 99 was.
>>60965405>Don't believe me? Track how much your car payments, insurance, gas and maintenance cost a month, times that by 120. That's how much money you miss out in 10 years. This is why you haven't made it.I bought a new car 10 years ago for 30k cash after I saved a year working, I still drive it today, no problems. If I put that 30k into the S&P500, over 10 years it would be $110k today. My car insurance has been $160/month, gas is about $50/month (I don't drive much and I have a short commute), and maybe $20/month in maintenance if I had to give a high estimate. That's $27,600 over 10 years, maybe 40k if it was otherwise invested. But taking a bus would have cost me $80+/month for the past 10 years, so that's at least 10k I avoided paying. So in total I'd have $140k more to my net worth. That's not nearly enough to make it, and I've been able to work and accumulate a net worth of 1.1m in that time, the 140k wouldn't make a crazy difference. For all the benefits and quality of life from having a car I'd even go as far as to say it was worth it, I've saved thousands of hours from waiting for a bus or walking, its made shopping and picking packages a breeze compared to taking a bus - a 30 minute errand with a car becomes a 2 hour journey on a bus. And I've been thankful to avoid freaks on the bus and standing around in the cold freezing winters, plus its enabled me to visit family in other cities, and made working a wagie life more bearable. If I threw that money into btc it'd be worth 10 million today though, which yeah I'd rather have, but that's just hindsight talking, at the time I thought btc was dead after it hit 1k and dropped, so I didn't throw any money into it until 2017.
>>60965336Just don't move out from your parent's house.
You're spitting facts. I used to carpool to work and it was based. Throw the other nigger a $20 for gas every once in a while and they were fine with it

>>60965563Wrong... I drove it through Midwest winters and it rots away in this misty environment I live now. It's a 5 speed camry, that's why it's survived and will continue to survive. One thing you normies need to realize is automatic transmissions are trash and die faster than manual. TardsPlus I know how to drive and work on a vehicle because I'm not a useless retard.
>>60965336What if I've already made it?
>>60965336That's some incel advice. I paid $3k for my 4runner pre covid, now its worth like $7k. I spend $60 on insurance per month and probably $100 on gas. Costs like $60 to do an oil change I've probably only put like $2000 in parts and maintenance over the 8 years that I've had it. That's literally nothing for the freedom and mobility it provides. Imagine being a frog posting 40 year old incel that rides the bus with niggers and hobos, I bet you play on your Nintendo switch while you wait at the bus stop geeeeeeg.
Not having a car as a man = guaranteed incel. What are you gonna bring your date on the bus and have her get stabbed by rabid niggers? Maybe you can ask mommy to drop you guys off? keeeeeeeeeek.

Or you could leverage your car to live in a low cost of living area and drive to the high earning parts of the city and make back way more in rent savings.
why are cars so expensive in the US?I can get a used car in the UK for like £1.5k, insurance is £300.
>>60965336Rare Fried Eggs And Tomato Pepe
>>60965336kinda true. sold my car years ago after doing the math. I used to work 5 days per week and one of these days was literally dedicated just for the car. People dont understand how expensive a car is especially over time once you factor in every little thing that has to be paid/maintained. now I take the bus and only work 4 days a week while my disposable income pretty much stayed the same.
>>60967055If you live in a college town and live near the university, sure, you can get by without a car.But the second you get to an actual city or have any sort of responsibility you'll need to get a car , if anything the opportunity you lose and not to mention the discrimination you'll face by not having a car far exceeds the meager savings you'll have not just owning a vehicle in just wage increases alone.
>>60967111life is different for most of us. I get it that america wasnt build around public transporation so I understand when people say they have no alternative. I used to own a car for 10 years and getting rid of it was one of the best financial decisions I have made other than starting investing. there are factors like no having to worry about maintanance, repairs, service, tires, cleaning the car, gas price, dealing with insurance companies etc. that also goes into it. it gives me peace of mind not having to bother with a car.

>>60965381>45k for a new car and paying $700 a month on this car loanDamn, absolutely nailed my situation. It's worth it for me though - I had to replace my old sedan with a family vehicle that's way cushier and can get through snow more easily.
>>60965381hi geoff
>>60965336Nah, my city is too car-dependent, and I love having privacy in my own vehicle instead of being packed like sardines into a deathmobile with poors and drivers who do not care about passenger safety or punctuality. Also, there's nothing better than getting a blowjob in your car with the windows rolled up while rain beats down on the windscreen.
>>60967281What do you pay in insurance and charging?
>>60967345$180/mo insurance in Florida, so average. Same rate as on my legacy ICE vehicle. Charging is maybe $50 a month because I use superchargers, will be about half that when I start charging at home.
>>60967281i like EVs but teslas are pieces of retarded shit. have fun burning to death when your fake door handles short circuit.

>>60967281>full self drive drives you wherever you need to goThis seems pretty great, I was able to see it firsthand and it's impressive how it can do pretty much everything now, but I really want fully unsupervised self-driving, being able to sleep while it drives would be a gamechanger.Feels like it's almost there with robotaxis but there's still a slow rollout and regulation and I think bad weather is still a problem, so hopefully it will reach that point in my area. Once it's reached that point in my area I'll be looking to sell my old car and buy a tesla.

>>60965336For me, living in a city, yeah, but some people would rather live rural life. Also, you would need to really expand public transportation if you want even more people using it.
No thanks, I prefer not getting stabbed by deranged niggers every day on my now three times longer commute. I would only consider such a thing if I lived in Japan, and even that I would probably still at least own a motorcycle.
>>60966311no dont get creative, OP has the only solution that can possibly work...
Lots of poors in here proclaiming that saving a few hundred bucks a month will let you make it lel My multiple cars don’t even show up in my monthly budget because I’m not poor, bet you all have to budget your food tooThought this was biz where making less than 150k means you are poor
>>60965336I was talking to an old man the other day about this. Anyone remember the great white flight during covid and the nigger riots? What happened to those people? Is that why most american cities are collapsing? Any white person of value has already fled and never looked back. Now governments and niggers are scrambling trying to figure out how to maintain a working profitable city with zero white men and 9/10 niggers or browns.

You can tell this works too because the cagies in this thread show no discipline just cringe.
this only works if you live in a city, there are no jobs in my town i basically have to travel at least 10 miles, that means bus and train. that costs like £25 a day. the shitbox is just better overall if you're in a car dependant area
