I actually work in immigration law. Let me be clear, this is a boondoggle meant to kill the H1B program without congressional intervention. Basically, there are four different wage levels for H1B, with the first two being your typical IT jobs and such. If they wanted to stop the cheap jeet labor, they would place restrictions on visas obtained with the first two wage levels. So now, even for highly skilled professionals at levels 3 and 4, the visa will be prohibitively expensive for companies. That will ultimately hurt the economy whether they admit it or not. Just another example of MAGA fucking something they don’t understand up.
