and she gambles $500 to $1000 every week at the casino on stupid slot machined. She's now down to $140k. I think she also has the beginning stages of dementia. How do I get her to stop? She's addicted.
>>
>>60967604
steal it. better that it goes to you than the casino.
>>
Talk her into gambling it on crypto. Tell her its better than the Casino. And tell her if you make money she can use some of the profits for slots.

That way you get control of it and she can have some for fun.
>>
>>60967606
It just makes me sick. She thinks she can become a "professional gambler".

>>60967616
I'm trying to do that but when I bring up investing a few grand into various crypto she shuts it down and says she can't afford it. She agreed she'd invest $200 into crypto... maybe. It's ironic because she has enough money to gamble but not to invest. She also has a bunch of gambling influencers on her YouTube feed on the smart TV in the living room.
>>
>>60967604
Talk to a lawyer. It might be impossible to stop her from squandering it if she's of sound mind and it's her money. However, you might be able to get her banned from casino premises as a problem gambler. Gambling addiction is no joke. They're the most likely to kill themselves out of all addicts.

And when she runs out of money, she's going to try to mooch off her kids.
>>
>>60967641
It's a local injun casino so I don't how getting her banned would work.

Tell her to gamble smarter.
1000 bucks into one machine and spin at around 10 bucks a spin.
>>60967650
Take her to a better casino that isn't operated by 'native' indian scum.
>>
>>60967604
Get her started on Ozempic. It may reduce the urge to gamble.
>>
>>60967604
Buy her favorite slot machines and let her gamble at your place
>>
>>60967650
Check with a lawyer, but by law, you should be able to call and say "My mom is a problem gambler; do not let her on the premises."
>>
>>60967604
if you gave her a grandkid to play with she wouldn't need the gambling
>>
>>60967604
You need to become the House Anon
>>
>>60967604
Get her hooked on Diablo 2
>>
She 65 and lonely, casinos are where all seniors socialize, scratch tickets and Keno gets them out of the house and hold up lines at the gas station for some sort of interaction. It's desperation from no longer having a purpose or people to hang out with. So get her into pickle ball
>>
>>60967616
Tell her this but it's unironic. Have her watch a few it's basically like betting on red or black but the payout is 10+x instead of 2x. Have her watch some Alex Becker on youtube.
>>
>>60967650
If you can get her to ask them to ban her they will do it. Self requested.
>>
>>60969503
Unironically this. Boomers took such horrible care of themselves that as they age they're getting stuck in retirement homes with nothing to do except take the charter bus to the casino. They can't travel. They can't visit anyone. It's a bleak existence. NOTHING will make you want to stay active and take care of your body like seeing decrepit 50-somethings in a retirement home. OP, you need to get your mom into the senior center or see if there are any senior events you can take her to that don't involve gambling. Get her some friends.
>>
Call 1-800-GAM-BLER
>>
>>60967773
This. OP is a total retard for just not opening his own home casino.
>>
>>60969448
this, it works.
My 74 year old grandma is unironically a top 10 player in an MMORPG
>>
>>60967650
State regulations still apply
>t. used to work for an injun casino
>>
>>60967604
you should get her into a retirement home
>>
Get her an ipad with lots of free no-money gambling apps. As long as they have nice animations and give her virtual points she'll be satisfied. Especially since you mention dementia.

Just make sure they're really free and don't upsell shit.
>>
>>60967604
Get her into Chainlink.
>>
>>60967773
this is such an obvious thing to do, how is gambling even a problem lol
>>
>>60967773
Wow that's really fucking smart. OP do that I think that would work
>>
Isn't there a way to get some sort of custody or guardianship over your mom so that you can get a veto on the financial decinsions she makes? I got that for my granma (rip) when she started hearing voices that told her to give all her money away for free. I prevented almost 200k from being lost and i also prevented my neighbors from finishing their garden pool. They were really mad.
>>
>>60970054
Your neighbors were exploiting your demented schizo grandma and THEY were mad when you put a stop to it? Couldn't you have raised a case against them?
>>
>>60967604
i've never seen the whole video, what the fuck sergey, holy cringe
>>
>>60967604
Contact a Lawyer that specializes in having seniors declared medically incompetent and lock her down with a monthly allowance. She is obviously mentally unfit to be custodian of that
Money.
>>
>>60967604
buy some used slot machine for her home
>>
>>60970153
Rig the slot machine so a 1 million dollar payout is her grandchild coming over for dinner for 30 minutes. Keep spinning them wheels, granny
>>
>>60970057
A case of fertilizer and gasoline, maybe
>>
You can either talk to her about it or try to get her to talk to a professional therapist about it.

being irresponsible, stupid, or even addicted to gambling is not going to land a medical diagnosis of mentally incompetent to manage their own money. That's like 50% of the US
>>
Buy her favorite slot machine and put it in the living room. You're welcome.
>>
>>60969563
My mom is in her mid 70s and plays mmos religiously. She used to gamble quite a bit, but hasn't in about 7 years. OP's mom needs to find a distraction hobby to replace her gambling addiction.
>>
>>60967629
get her her own slot machine so she can gamble and get the money back.
>>
>>60968172
kek.
>>
>>60967641
>>60969515
I'm in a similar position with my father. He's a diagnosed dementic but instead of gambling he just spends all his money. He probably spent his entire early disability salary on his vacation. He rented 15 cars and bought tens of thousands of dollars on jewellery. I asked him if I could have power of attorney over him and he said "maybe later". My grandmother and I want to murder him. What can I do in this position? I'm in Canada if it makes a difference.
>>
leave her be, lmao
>>
>>60968172
LMFAOOO true
>>
>>60970474
where the fuck do you find these parents, i have never even heard of such mothers
>>
>>60967773
And then she starts winning and demands her prize money from OP. Haha.
>>
>>60971156
Go apply for MAID for him anon and cite the dementia for the reason. Come on nigga you're trolling lmao how have you not thought of that?
>>
>>60967629
Former professional gambler here, it's all gone to shit. The casinos changed the rules on blackjack and added quick tech fixes like continuous shufflers to make card counting impossible and unprofitable regardless. Poker is still viable but no longer has the influx of new players that made it easy. And casinos have become much more careful about the odds screwups that they used to have where it was possible to beat them because they'd gotten a calculation wrong.

Especially with slot machines there is simply no way to win.

Some states have systems that allow a player to be banned permanently upon request, but AFAIK she has to be the one to request it herself.
