>>60969347Services are much better, faster, cheaper, because of economies of scale. I can order whatever I want (fresh food, electronics, whatever), and it's on my doorstep in less than an hour. >>60970544>>60970846I've done rural living, city living, and suburbs, and city living isn't all its cracked up to be.Want to invite friends over? Oh shit there's nowhere to park, guess they can either risk getting a ticket or walking 2 miles from the nearest parking lot that will only let them stay 3 hours. Guess it's fine if all your friends live in the city and can take public transit over, but everyone outside the city will have trouble. Can't be too loud or run the party too late because you share walls and you'll get noise complaints.Want to move in/out? Well shit you have to book out the elevator and move shit up and down all day and hope you can get a parking spot near the front for your moving truck. Not to mention sirens and road traffic noise at all hours of the day/night, and the crime and immigrants are everywhere, it's inescapable. And yeah rural areas, everyone knows you and each other, and you'll always be an outsider unless you've lived there for 3 generations, which point you become the "new" family. There's still crime, people had stolen gas from our cars some nights, meth users were still around and stole from people, but they were less of a problem. We had a massive driveway which was annoying to maintain but fun, it was easy to host parties of dozens of people, have a massive bonfire, and just do what you want. Sucked going on a 45 minute drive to see a movie, or pickup a package, or 15 minutes to the post office. Seemed like any errand becomes a whole day event.Suburbs felt like the best of both worlds. Could still have a dozen people over for a party, fit half their cars in your driveway and there would be plenty of parking on the street. No noise complaints since there were no shared walls. You could go see a movie or run errands in 10-15 minutes. Besides a lawnmower in the morning the neighborhood is quiet all day and night. No crime at all. A garage to protect your vehicle from the elements or hook up to a charger.
>>60969279How do you like it? I live in nova now but I desperately want to get out once I graduate, hoping to move nyc if I can make big boy bucks.
>>60971274Everything you said isn’t an issue except for this:>Not to mention sirens and road traffic noise at all hours of the day/night, and the crime and immigrants are everywhere, it's inescapable.I am so tired of hearing emergency vehicles at all times, the schizos outside my window yelling, the completely random crime, black teens causing mayhem. It’s a real and serious kind of fatigue going around the corner to walk the dog. I don’t let the gf do it. It’s as though you roll the dice every time. And I live in what’s considered to be a good neighborhood. But at the same time, the suburbs are like an island. A comfy island at times, but an island nonetheless. You want to go anywhere? At least a 15 minute drive, and you’re on a “stroad”, that shit where there’s no sidewalks, you’re most likely to get into a serious accident, and you’re surrounded by strip malls. I can’t live like that. It fucking sucks. Put me in a city or rural area. I’ll paint a wall with my brain matter using a shotgun before I’m driving through this shit to bring my kids to a movie.>>60971285D.C. was the coolest thing for a few years. I mean, it still sometimes is. The Foo Fighters are playing a surprise show nearby tonight. They’re a bit lame but I like some songs. Anyway, I like being able to walk everywhere, it has a lot of green space. But then it kinda weighs down on you. The crime, the looney politics, the actual looney people yelling outside my window right now, the activist types who block roads and are somehow allowed to get a permit for it every week, the $1m homes in objectively bad areas… did I mention the crime? But NY is great, I love it there but it’s $5k for a one bedroom. You need to make $250k+ to make it work. But good luck with Mamdani. NY was the best 2002-2014.
>>60969168what does income have to do with buying a house. sure it's a proxy for your net worth, but it's touted like it's a strong cause-and-effect relationship.
>>60971274> Want to invite friends over? Oh shit there's nowhere to park, Big cities have big homes and driveways
>>60971481People buy the most expensive they can afford and in the most desirable areas. Dummy. And in a big city, you need 300k income to buy a home.
>>60971357>the suburbs are like an island>You want to go anywhere? At least a 15 minute drive>that shit where there’s no sidewalks, you’re most likely to get into a serious accident, and you’re surrounded by strip mallsMaybe in your area. For me, it's at most a 15 minute drive.2-5 minutes of driving before you get to a main city artery, and that's nice driving, wide open roads, green grass everywhere, nice houses, trees, and sidewalks. Maybe 1-2 stop signs but there's barely any traffic. The main city driving sucks and that's where you'll hit the stroads and all the intersections but at that point you're right in the city, you can go pretty much anywhere else pretty easily, or maybe the destination is a strip mall in which case it's convenient to have right there.>Put me in a city or rural area. I’ll paint a wall with my brain matter using a shotgun before I’m driving through this shit to bring my kids to a movie. This just sounds retarded. Really? Driving past strip malls where there's no sidewalks makes you want to kill yourself? Even more than driving 1.5hr roundtrip to the movies with just as shitty roads and you'll pass some shitty billboards and strip malls too on the way? Even more than living around crime and noise constantly?I get it's hyperbole but I cannot take it seriously. As if stroads are so terrible when they're honestly 10x better than the alternatives.>>60971500I'd classify those as suburbs.

>>60971236this just seems like normal people to me.>>60969168how are SWE's or accountants losers? This is pretty retarded. You're like 85th percentile for making 120k, maybe 90. Seems like this board is just most people in society -- NEETS, poor, lower middle class, upper middle class strivers, some millionares... seems normal?
>>60971512There’s just zero culture in suburbs and the strip mall areas. And I don’t mean “stabby diversity” culture, I’m saying you could take a picture of a suburb or road in your area and it could be in New Jersey, Michigan, it could be anywhere. It’s copy and paste. The correct term is “non-place”. Suburbs are where you almost die as a person. If people want boring, that’s fine. But I can’t do it. At least a rural area is scenic. There’s nothing in the suburbs. And stroads are probably the worst thing there is.Don’t get me wrong, I fucking hate it here sometimes. But I go and visit relatives in nice suburbs and it feels as though I’m trapped. It’s not a comfy feeling. I even felt it as a kid. Couldn’t venture outside my neighborhood. That shit sucks.

>>60971573>zero culture in suburbs and the strip mall areasStrip malls, maybe.Suburbs? No.Looking at the images in this gay little reddit thread >>60971590 each suburb has its own personality, it's own sense of space, some of them look pretty new and would certainly grow into their own space eventually. Sure they share common features, they're still unique and look like nice safe comfortable places to live. Then I scroll down to the comments and someone posts a narrow street that could be confused for a sidewalk in philly as if it was a prime example of culture.Fuck no, you can barely fit a single car down that street, and everyone living along there has to share walls and hear each other, living over each other, coordinating with each other for any sort of repairs to their shared dwelling, it's just inconvenient. Only someone who hates you would want to convince you that that is somewhere preferable to live.Fuck it, I've had it up to here with these redditor faggots, it's been 30 years of people like them bitching about suburbs. It's the most superficial retard-tier judgement that was a learned taste, people didn't wake up one day and said to themselves "wow fuck suburbs, it all looks the same". There's been an outright war on our minds to convince people to hate white culture, going back decades. There's nobody making movies about how living in an apartment sucks, but plenty about the suburbs, and that did not happen organically.Fuck them I'm not buying it, the suburbs rock, safe communities, walkable, neighborly, friendly, low noise, and every single one is unique. And if you asked mexicans, filipinos, japanese, or indians to build their own suburbs it would look completely different and nobody would say they all look the same even if they did. So ultimately hating suburbs is about hating white culture. Quit hating white culture faggot.
>>60971718Why do you think living with shared walls is some kind of college dorm? And the point of living in an urban area is not having a car, which if you knew anything about finance, you would know is a depreciating asset and is like setting money on fire. And suburbs have nothing to do with White culture, it was all conjured up by central planners. If anything, it’s fucking communism with some bland yards. Cities are organic, and there’s a reason why most people leave the suburbs and don’t come back. Great place to raise a family, sure, but it’s like a tomb. Unique? It’s all the fucking same. One big monoculture from coast to coast. And no, suburbs aren’t walkable. Complete opposite of walkable. I can walk outside right now, toss a rock and hit three parks. Can you say the same?
>>60971718It's not redditors, if it is they are latching onto something originally from /pol/. the suburbs isn't white culture it's modern boomer culture. the more expensive ones are walkable and fun like Littleton (at least it was in the 2000s) but most of them especially in flyover states are complete boxes and you have to drive 30 minutes to Walmart to get anything. that being said most cities suck too. port cities near the sea are usually the most fun and have the most money coming in, just like 300 years ago ironically. been all over the country. most suburbs are a rat cage that cannot be traversed on foot, full of bored cops waiting to pull you over and ask why you're there. they will also show up if you're out walking. the ones in the south and the Midwest are the worst offenders. rural or city is better but once again pick your area. has nothing to do with white culture. white people are just conditioned nowadays to hate a good time. We all know who is to blame for turning white into turbo dorks.
>>60971718also not a rule by any means but flips, jeets and especially nips build tourist areas and live in them. only the top 5% live in what Americans call suburbs. they want actually want a return on the property even when they retire.
>>60971808>Why do you think living with shared walls is some kind of college dorm?Sure not as bad as a college dorm, but living in an apartment, I hear my upstairs neighbor walk around and every time they piss and flush the toilet. I can hear when anyone walks down the central hallway outside my door, every time someone knocks on their door, every time someone leaves or comes home, every fire truck, ambulance, or police siren, every loud ass car or motorcycle that idles in the nearby intersection. It sucks.>And the point of living in an urban area is not having a car, which if you knew anything about finance, you would know is a depreciating asset and is like setting money on fire. The people living without cars are spending way more time to run an errand than someone with a car, I would know, I was one of them. And the way people buy cars is retarded, they buy the newest or lease it and get a new one every 3 years and have an endless $800/month payment. Yes of course that's setting money on fire, but that's not mandatory. Anyone can buy a cheap honda/toyota and drive it for 10-20 years and the total cost is actually not bad. For the added convenience it's well worth the price.>And suburbs have nothing to do with White cultureThe way they're designed is intentionally for the quality of life that white people want. It's entirely about white culture.White people don't want to share walls.White people want a car to drive around in, and therefore a garage for their car to keep it nice.White people want to walk around in a nice green area near friendly neighbors, but not so close that they hear them.White people want a yard to cook in, for them and their kids and pets to play, in privacy without being intruded on by creeps or strangers.
>>60971808>there’s a reason why most people leave the suburbs and don’t come backYeah they move out of their parents home in the suburbs and can't afford a place of their own in the suburbs, they're priced out. That's a problem of too many people and not enough new suburbs being built. The push for "densification" with a thousand people living on top of each other certainly doesn't help.>Great place to raise a family, sure, but it’s like a tomb. Unique? It’s all the fucking sameBig yards is nothing like a tomb. What's the same besides it being rows of houses with trees and sidewalks? Yeah it has that in common, but there's different types of houses and frontages and roofs and mailboxes and different kinds of trees and bushes, different terrain, and backdrop. All of which come from white culture, not some central planners. You could say every apartment is the same, it's just rows of tiny boxes in the sky. Talk about a fucking tomb>And no, suburbs aren’t walkableIn every suburb I've lived, you can walk to a convenience store in 15 minutes. Usually a pizza place too. And at least two parks, of varying quality. That's walkable enough.>>60971840>originally from /pol/There's been movies hating on suburbs since the 90s, this shit didn't originate from pol.>the suburbs isn't white culture it's modern boomer cultureBoomer culture is a subset of white culture.>Littleton Looks nice.If there's good suburbs and bad suburbs then it sounds like the problem isn't suburbs in itself but rather the implementation of it. In which case, we should simply seek to implement them as best as possible, and not discard them as these redditor creatures seek to do.>but most of them especially in flyover states are complete boxes and you have to drive 30 minutes to Walmart to get anything30 minutes to a walmart in flyover states sounds like a small rural town rather than a suburb
>>60972031I think we’ll have to agree to disagree. I deal with noise but my only real concern is that I subsidize black people to live near me through my tax dollars. There’s also yards here too, you know. And I guaran-fucking-tee you I can walk to the grocery store get my shit, and come back faster than you.>That's a problem of too many people and not enough new suburbs being built. The push for "densification" with a thousand people living on top of each other certainly doesn't help.Wow how great, instead of sprawl going out for a 50 mile radius, it’ll be 100. How swell. Kinda crazy your solution for housing is more McMansions instead of building where the jobs are.Enjoy your suburb and local pizza joint, when I move out of DC I’m moving to the woods. Had enough of “urban” people and I don’t want to be around weirdos like you trying to build some quasi-ethnostate featuring stucco homes.
>>60972091>we’ll have to agree to disagreeyeah>Wow how great, instead of sprawl going out for a 50 mile radius, it’ll be 100. How swell. Kinda crazy your solution for housing is more McMansions instead of building where the jobs are.I don't condone McMansions but yes at that point you can start building out new commercial space on the outskirts for cheap, and you'll have a sizable workforce to build off of that can afford to live near their workplace, rather than trying to increasingly cram millions of people into more dense space. This densification trend is just reducing everyone's quality of life, pushing up prices near the city core even more as more people must live near it for work, and continuing the trend of everyone having fewer kids since there's nowhere to raise them.Ending immigration would also solve this, one way or another, so I'd be happy with that too.>when I move out of DC I’m moving to the woodsEnjoy driving 45 minutes to stock up on groceries or do anything.I've thought about doing the same but I don't miss doing that, and managing a large property grinds on you over time. Maybe we'll have robots that are good enough to do all the landscaping at that point.
>>60972031if I had the privacy of a rural area I'd gladly ride a horse to Wally world and probably never have any issues. again the issue is the people. ruralfags respect your privacy (if you're white and respect theirs). I've never had issues with cops or nosy people asking questions where I have my little hidy hole but I guess you could call that place remote rather than rural. In the suburbs it was non stop bullshit and insecure normies. I absolutely hated it. I had to go nearly a mile off road to make camp while going through these fucking places to ensure I wouldn't be bothered or snooped on. in the city nobody even bothers to notice you. it's nice.
>>60969168Some projects just feel different. This one has that energy — organic, loud, and full of momentum #MORICOIN
>>60972430I found privacy in rural areas to be non-existent. All my neighbors (white) wanted to get to know me, and in my attempt to remain on friendly/neighborly terms, ended up going over to their place occasionally and sometimes having them over at mine. Every time I went into the nearest town (population 7k) I always saw the same people, the shopkeepers/cashiers were almost always the same people, and they also knew all my neighbors, literally couldn't go anywhere without someone knowing of you, and exactly where you live. The word spreads quick in these small towns. After a few years it got to the point where the grocery store cashier knew exactly what food I ate. This level of familiarity might sound nice but it sucks how prevalent it is. Literally everywhere I was running into people and having to say hi and a quick catchup conversation. I just want to be just another face in a crowd, get shit done, and leave. As you said, living in the city nobody even bothers to notice you and it is nice. I don't even know how you would avoid that unless you only went to large cities to restock. Maybe remote is better in that regard, but I'd still be concerned about random people trespassing and going around your home/property if you're not around.

>>60976273How old are your friends?I got my driver's license pretty late in my early 20s, and it feels like such a waste to not get it once you have a decent paying job, just stunting yourselves and what you can do for no reason, limiting yourself to one geographic location. Like what if you wanted to do something outside the city? You can't even rent a car to drive somewhere, can't easily travel around other cities without learning their public transit system (if they even have one), can't go skiing or drive down to a lake or hiking trail without paying a fortune in fees to take a taxi everywhere. Always at the mercy of the public transit and having to share space with the public. I can't imagine how limiting it would be for employment opportunities as well. With a car you can go anywhere.Maybe it'll be fine and we'll have unsupervised self-driving cars across the country in a few years, but who knows, I thought we'd have them 5 years ago, maybe they'll never come.
>>60970544>walk 2 minutes and get some groceriesPeople don't even want to walk 30 seconds from the far end of the parking lot at the grocery store when given the chance to park closer. >>60971274I used to be a mailman for a gated community where rich people larped as rural folk 2 minutes from a mid-sized city. That would be pretty comfy imo, huge forested area with streams and ponds, high walls to keep out the niggers, decent plots of land, and then you're just a few minutes away from most any restaurant or store you'd want to go to. It was kind of like an alternate reality where we never moved past the 60s. But I'm antisocial enough that 200 acres in bfe is ultimately much more preferable since Starlink brought rural areas out of the stone ages with old copper DSL if you were lucky.

>>60977248Yeah that sounds like it would be comfy, my parents moved into a neighborhood like that - not quite as fancy but still pretty rich. My parents themselves aren't super rich, just ended up getting lucky with their farm going up in value a shit ton and the previous owners were getting a divorce and needed a quick sale. They'd typically be priced out but everything all came together for them. It's wild meeting their neighbors and seeing what it's like though, big ass boats every few driveways, 2-3 car garages, every house has enough driveway for a dozen cars, roads wide enough for street parking on both sides, pools, fancy cars, and half of the people there aren't even living there most of the year. Most of them have businesses and houses in other states that they fly to and live in, while their 6-8 bedroom 4 bathroom mansions and 2+ acre backyards just sits empty the rest of the time.I don't think I could do the bfe thing, being too remote isn't for me, but I often daydream about quitting my job and going out inna woods and just living my life out there. It can be a hard life unless you have enough money to make it comfy.Sometimes I think about getting an RV once we get unsupervised self-driving, I feel like it could be fun to travel around the country and live cheap out of it without having the mental stress of driving all the time. But the cost is probably worse than living out of my apartment when I think about the cost of lot fees and maintenance and gas, and I don't really want to live my whole life like that.

Whenever people talk about rural America you have to realize how fucking insanely weird most rural North American towns are that were created after the popularization of the automobile. I like rural living but when some white trash dipshit is talking about rural America they really just mean they live isolated and use their car for everything.
>>60979008Automobiles weren’t readily accessible by the majority of Americans until the 50’s and 60’s. There are hardly any towns in America founded after that period. Why are you a non-white esl that thinks he knows anything about my country and its history?
