What are the implications of consumers funding farmer Billy Bob's poor decisions?
>>
>>60992166
Look at that, awarding failure.
>>
>>60992166
farmers need to be subsidized anyway because 1) we want food in excess and 2) farming is not profitable. but subsidy is a dirty word apparently
>>
I'll take rural white American farmers over mystery meat goy bots.
>>
>>60992166
That’s how white trash are, always gibsmedat begging bowl economics. They couldn’t exist any other way. Put a Mexican in farming and he grows massive amounts of anything.
>>
>>60992166
>woops we made it impossible to sell your produce because of tariffs
>so here's the tariff money

What was the point?

>>60992312
They're miserly bastards and are responsible for the importation of many mystery meats.
>>
We can make more food to grow more people to make more food. This sounds like fucking feudalism

These faggots burn excess food to keep prices in their favor

Farmers are bastards. Agricultural labor sucks so much that arguably the original purpose of the state in antiquity was to provide the organization to conquer people and force them to do agricultural labor, and you organized your walled city to stop this from being done to you.

It was not Billy Bob's poor decisions that pissed of foreign countries with tariffs that tanked the foreign markets farmers were successfully selling their products to for decades.
>>

how will farmers produce anything though? the cheap workers they hire are scared of ICE coming for them.

I don't understand this "food security" argument. Most of the food grown aren't actually put into human mouths. Like only about 10% is eaten. Even if you argue that the ~50% used for animal feed is absolutely necessary, is the ~40% used for ethanol absolutely necessary? Can't we get renewable or nuclear energy or just work from home and drive less instead?

Even if you think that green energy is for faggots only, weren't we supposed to get cheap gas? What's the point of ethanol if fossil fuel is plentiful and will never run out?
>>
>>60992166
So the American consumer is directly subsidising farmers now? That's a...strategy I suppose.
>>
>>60992271
How do libertarians fit this in their worldview?

Zoomers don't know that one of the first things George Washington did when he "liberated" america and became the first president was to kill a bunch of farmers doing a rebellion because they wanted more personal control of their markets while he ensured that the federal government would take control.
>>
>>60992166
Argentinean farmers deserver that money donald not john from missouri let's be real
>>
>>60992166
To be fair, farmers are very strictly regulated which is why production has fallen. This is the reason that grocery prices have exploded over the last decade, half a million farms have closed and competition has been decimated due to government regulation often lobbied for by bad actors who want to manipulate and dominate the financial markets.
Libertarians like Ron Paul yapping about the free market are fucking delusional. There is no free market beyond a certain level of government, it is completely controlled.

Oh yes I'm sorry I forgot about glycine max, the other crop that together with corn form the majority of planted crops for the US. It's generally used for tofu (which I'm sure is extremely popular to eat in the US), exports (not this year lol), fucking sneed oils, and also animal feed and ethanol. Face it, we don't eat a shitload of crops farmers already plant, seemingly the majority of crops planted.

>libtards and niggers actually believe that "food just comes from the grocery store" and we don't need to placate the people that grow it

Libs are so lost. They used to at least pretend that they hated big conglomerates and stood with the little guy but now they don't even do that. They just seek out whatever thing Drumpf is doing and then decide the opposite is good, twist themselves into mental pretzels trying to justify Orange Man Bad, then screech and whine and try to kill someone with a rifle. Total disaster on the left.

Also this is why Coomunism always fails. It's a bunch of nigger retards who are against... *checks reddit notes*.... funding farmers.

OP's tweet refers to american farmers (mostly onions) having unsold inventories ever since china imposed retaliatory tariffs on us agricultural products
so trump will be giving them tariff money to make up for their loss of not being able to sold abroad thanks to the tariffs

It's fake news.

the government already owns a majority of the farms and has regulations on private owned farms.

if anything the tariff money will be laundered for other purposes.

We don't care if it's socialism anymore, little buddy. We're past that. Something called "National Socialism" ring a bell?

I support subsidizing profitable and unprofitable White American farmers. I support undercutting and destroying foreign conglomerates that have bought up and are currently buying up American farmland and running mega-farms (which use highly unethical practices on animals, by the way, something libs used to "care about").

I also support lobotomizing all libtards, starting with you
>>
>>60997560
>look at me we nazi germany now!
you are subsidizing israel, though

Not feeling bad for U.S. soi and corn farmers who set their entire model on endless growth to China and who endorsed the one guy who didn’t want to trade with China getting shocked that their crops are useless

>“The frustration is overwhelming,” the American Basedbean Association (ASA) President Caleb Ragland said in a statement on Wednesday. “U.S. basedbean prices are falling, harvest is underway, and farmers read headlines not about securing a trade agreement with China, but that the U.S. government is extending $200 billion in economic support to Argentina while that country drops its basedbean export taxes to sell 20 shiploads of Argentine basedbeans to China in just two days.”

>farmers vote for Trump
>Trump starts economic war with the world
>China buys Argentina basedbeans instead of buying from US
>Argentina is now a direct US economic rival
>Trump now wants to bail out Argentina cause Milei is a darling of the rightwing and Milei's ass is on fire cause of corruption scandals and economic issues
You cannot make this shit up.

liberals have a religious faith that consumers are paying the tariffs, despite there being zero evidence for that and plenty of evidence to the contrary. Then again, they also believe a man can get pregnant
>>
>>60992259
Food produced locally with minimum wages and work safety is going to be more expensive than food produced in the 3rd world by virtual slave labor under a totalitarian government.

Global free market capitalism was always a retarded idea as long there are participants who don't follow the sames rules of labor protections. You are just outsourcing slave labor elsewhere and destroy your local production.

Thats the problem with electing someone like Trump, he doesn't give even the most remote single shit about America, he cares about himself and people who are sycophantic to him (Milei, Bolsanaro, et al) thats all, observe how he loved Brazil when it was his buddy in charge, now his pal got removed from power because of his insane corruption all of a sudden he hates Brazil and is declaring massive tarriffs (That harm the U.S economy) in support of his personal crony.

The bare minimum a nation needs from its leader is for them to actually like the nation they're elected to lead. If America took a nuke Trump would fly off to some sunny country, have his assistant write a half-assed tweet and forget all about it to go golfing with his buddies.

NZ removed all farming subsidies decades ago and now it supplies a third of all dairy products globally despite being 0.06% of world population.
>>
>>60992166
Farmers don’t decide what to grow. They are told what to grow and how much of it to grow.
>>
>>60992271
Or you know, just put tariffs on foreign food. That way the consumer doesn't have to double pay for local food.
Subsidies come from taxation and tax money comes from the tax payer.
>>
>>61000818
do other countries want a local dairy industry? then they have to tariff or subsidy. tariffs increase costs and don't necessarily foster industry, whereas direct subsidy creates local industry and excess of the good. subsidy is obviously the better choice for improving abundance and quality of life
>>
>>61000851
the macroeconomic effect of tariffs is more cash in the pockets of producers at the expense of consumers, artificially induced by state intervention

so in essence they are not too different from a subsidy, in both cases producers get an unnatural benefit thanks to taxes

>That way the consumer doesn't have to double pay for local food.
they end up doing so when the local prices also rise because foreign products are less competitive, so domestic producers can spike the prices
>"noooo my wholesome compatriot landowners would never raise their prices on me!!"
>>
>>61000964
>they end up doing so when the local prices also rise because foreign products are less competitive, so domestic producers can spike the prices
That's only a problem if you set the tariffs too high and foreign food becomes unable to compete
>>
>>60992166
Hey, at least that puts some socialism into the facist state of America and every American pays for it.
>>
>>60992166
What are the implications of you looking down on someone who's essential for your survival.
>>
>>61001036
This is a problem regardless. If they can afford to raise prices on something people literally cannot live without, they will. And this is especially gonna happen when you basically force a massive sales loss on farmers by cutting some of the biggest buyers and leave them with tons of crops they now can't sell.
>>
>>61000882
NZ doesn't need tariffs for dairy to protect local because global competition has made them the best in the world. If the US hadn't protected it's shipping industry after WW2, the largest by an order of magnitude at the time, they would have had to learn to compete. Instead, today the majority of ships come out of Japan, Korea and Chinese docks.
>>
>>61001101
If your primary business is to sell food for domestic consumption, you wouldn't be affected much by tariffs.
In any case none of us decided to implement tariffs or a global economic war. The guy the farmers voted for did.
>>
>>60992166

Donald Trump is spending our Bitcoin Reserve money on kick backs for industrial farmers.

probably.
