My parents didnt invest and dont own their own home. They're in their late 60's.

They accumulated 6 figures worth of credit card debt, they only paid it off recently because of an inheritance my father got.

How can I stop feeling this resentment? I dont want to feel this way but you people make me feel like I should be resenting them for not setting me up for a comfy life, like 90% of boomers are leaving at least a paid off house to their kids, im not even getting that.

I guess I should thank them in that it's forced me to become insanely aggressive with building my own wealth because there's NOTHING to inherit, but it's a very stressful life to have to grind away like crazy just to get shit others my age will inherit.

Man it sucks your parents are stupid or possible alcoholics or drug addicts

Mine bought their house for like $500k 30 years ago and I recently got $250k from them to use for my first house when I turn 21 next year
>>
>>61020236
No theyre not alcoholics or drug addicts. They're normal boomers.

They did own a house and paid it off in the 1990's, but they went into a business which failed but they kept the failing business going for 15+ years which forced them to sell their paid off house and buried them in debt which they didnt pay off until my dad got an inheritance

The thing is, houses were still cheap for a lot of this time and they could have bought another house again, but they didn't bother trying

>>61020222
you don't inherit debt now do you hear yourself you ungrateful bug???? that was for you what the fuck have you done with your life
>>
Lots of people have junkie or divorced parents who ain't leaving them shit. Be thankful for the stable home at least. Use the confidence that brings to be the first in your family to have some basic understanding of economics, then leave something better for your kids one day.
>>
>>61020222
Your parents are in their 60s so you are in your 40s and still crying like a little bitch that mommy and daddy won't give you a lollipop. Grow up and get your own life, loser.
>>
>>61020564
>don't own their own home
>stable home

pick one
>>
>>61020222
I'm in a similar boat although they CURRENTLY have a paid house, I say CURRENTLY because they both work physical jobs still and are falling apart, they have zero savings and zero investments, plus they're 7 years away from their public pensions. My father single handedly destroyed an inheritance that should have set us for life. To be honest I get sick just thinking about what's been squandered, but anyway, I guess there's a lesson in that.
>>
>>61020222
now thats the true high iq move. who the heck would want to die without debt like the goodest goy instead of debtmaxing
>>
>>61020222
kek, same. you gotta make it yourself. I made more than parents NW in like a year they just MUST CONSOOOOME. Thank god it
>>
My mom invests and owns the house, dad just got debt free. Only child too so I won't have to share inheritance. I know for sure I'll get the house but I'm not sure how much fiat/stocks I'll be left with whenever that time comes since they are only in their 50's.
>>61020222
You shouldn't resent your parents but yea not much else to say other than they fucked up, and to use that as a lesson to set your kids up.
>>61020236
Damn that's nice. I don't think mine can help out if I buy a house but they did pay for my college.
>>
>>61020981
its really all just propaganda to divide people. that house you think you own, you still pay rent for it to the government that is just kind enough to let you use it as long as you follow a long list of rules. if you cannot keep it with zero running costs its not yours
>>
>>61020222
Imagine wanting to be old
>>
>>61021013
>im in similar situation
>my parents own a house paid off

how is the situation similar?
>>
>>61020222
My dad built a house in the early 90s that’s probably worth around a million now. The only inheritance I received was a funeral bill.
You just have to stop bitching about it and be grateful for what you do have. Lamenting what people should have done for you and how life could have been is an addiction that turns you into a loser, you have to quit.
>>
are they hoarders? will you also have to clean up hoarder trash while you're grieving your parents with an empty wallet?
>>
Before I say anything are you even able to put money into investing?
>>
>>61020258
Eh, I wouldn't resent them for that. It sounds like they tried at least, seems more like a skill issue than a motive issue.
>>
You should be resenting them.
>>
>>61021050
Yeah but you can’t do renovations or work on your own house and learn how to be handy. Or build a chicken coop and have chickens in 99% of renting scenarios.
>>
>>61021092
They were renting the same place for 20 years and the landlord finally decided to sell the place, so they recently had to move and down size massively since the place they rented was half the price of what market rate rent is, during this process they got rid of ALL of their shit basically.

They downsized from a 3 bed 2 bathroom house to a 1 bed 1 bathroom unit, and they're paying more in rent for the 1 bed 1 bath than they were paying for the 3 bed 2 bathroom house, in the same location.

They literally had to get rid of 99.9% of their shit in the move.

>>61021101
Yeah its just gay though, assets exploded in value, and they missed all that capital gains, that I'll never get to see. The house they used to own in the 80s and 90s is now worth multiple millions of dollars.
>>
>>61021094
Yeah, but I do 50% safe investing and 50% very high risk. The very high risk shit which is basically gambling has lost me so much money, but Ive been doing it because I want to try "catch up" to where an inheritance would have got me, if that makes any sense. My 50% safe investments are just S&P500 dcaing which has done well for the last 10 years.

>>61021112
Give ur thoughts on why, so far everyone is cucking out for them
>>
>>61021137
Right on, glad to hear there's some good news. In that case, I'll say to just keep looking for opportunities.
Best one I've found yet didn't even exist when I first started investing. I don't stare at charts and new projects 24/7 and even I nabbed a 40x by just continuing to look around over time and doing my own research like people here told me to. We often wish the big day would be here already, but once it arrives it's feels like a fresh start.
The thing to focus on is that you can be the one to make it big, be it for yourself or for those you care about. After all, it's not just your parents but many generations before who could've set things up amazingly for future generations. But you're here now and it's your hour.
>>
>>61021050
sounds like poorfag cope to me, enjoy being a rentoid
>>
>>61021234
its not so bad if you're an eufag. the government gives one of those for free to the neet kings but yeah if you have to pay for it yourself with your hard earned money that would suck and you're better off in a car or tent
>>
>>61021071
Ah alright I see you're fucking retarded and can't do 2+2. Best of luck in life.
>>
>>61020222
Checked but nigga you gotta let it go. Whats done is done and you ain't getting shit so now its up to you to go get that money. I know im not getting shit for inheritance because my parents are not well off but they gave me a good home and I had no complaints with how I was raised. Now im on my own but I dont owe anything to them like how they dont owe anything to me.
>>
>>61020222
You shouldn't resent them, you should get the fuck away as soon as possible because you're going to become their bank soon.
>>
>>61021137
>Ive been doing it because I want to try "catch up" to where an inheritance would have got me
I did that too. Unfortunately the stock market/crypto circus doesn't change based on your feelings. My investments would be doubled if I had just passively invested in SPY and BTC, and I'd probably have developed some skills other than wasting time staring at charts.
What's your plan to stop gambling when/if that doesn't pay off?
>>
Apple was 1.50 in the 90s.

A lot of our parents failed us.
>>
I had to block temu at the router because my mum used to buy useless chink shit DAILY. She is drowning in useless trinkets and cat shit. I only understood why my dad left after I left myself and saw how normal people live. All she gave me was crippling anxiety and an inability to communicate with women. It was over before it started.
>>
>>61021120
Do you own any chickens?
>>
I always feel bad for people who had stupid parents. I grew up in an affluent area and lifestyle, not rich but definitely not poor. Can't imagine if my parents were idiots like that.
>>
>>61021828
My mom caused my dad to commit sudoku. Women are a disappointing species. I wish I liked men.
>>
>>61020258
Your parents dont owe you anything except their love and care (until you are grown up). After that, its your turn to make the best out of it. Or do you want your own children to resent you for not investing in bitcoin in 2011? Or not stacking gold to the ceiling in current year minus ten? Your prents teached you how to be a financial retard, be grateful. Now bring me my fries i ordered them like an hour ago.
>>
>>61020222
Maybe they didn't invest because they spent everything they had on raising a kid. You're a drag, anon.
>>
>>61020222
>actually paying off credit card debt
>not gifting you or a trust the inheritance
>debt could have died with them
must not have been much of an inheritance, but that sucks bro
>>
>>61020258
okay so they aren't lazy addicts, loved you and were actually ambitious and tried their best to save their busines for both your futures. i think you might be an ungrateful peice of shit
>>
>>61021087
true

>>61021944
Love my Kazakhstan my fren. If my link bags don't retire me by EoY, I'm committing sodoku and taking that miserable bitch with me.
