> Suddenly becomes greedy and proceeds to hand a large sum of money to a weakly related third party.

A guy in my family (husband of a cousin) used to be a dropshipping scumbag and was pulling a similar scheme at the top on December 2021, although on a much smaller scale. The retard was flashing a sports car and was promising to 2x the money in 3 months, My uncle gave him 20k, her older brother another 20k. My mother gave him 3k without telling me, more people probably involved, I estimate 150k lost, plus his own money. After losing it all he had to flee to another city, decided to convert to christianity and marry my cousin so the family doesn't dismember him alive. I still wonder how hasn't he been murdered o commited sudoku.

outsider here, can somebody explain to me how these "professional investors" end up in a position where a random blip in the market can bankrupt them? has this sort of thing gone well for them for so long they started moving all of their chips into this one basket, pretending the risk wasn't there? or is there more to it?
>>
>>61089799
crypto tards are so overconfident now they are leveraged to the gills so a 10% drop just liquidates them and then some
>>
>>61089799
leverage. some of these retards use 50-100x and cross margin. they have no one to blame.
>>
>>61089799
They over leverage themselves, and even the slightest swing in a high value stock fucks them.

Example.
If oyu put 100 bucks up, and they give you 10,000 of leverage, so you buy STOCKX at 10,000 but if each point of movement is 50 bucks, then if it moves down 2 points, you lost your money and you get liquidated.

Basically the exchange/broker sells your holder before THEY start to lose money.

okay thank you for the answers. I was under the impression that crypto currencies fluctuate wildly all the time so I couldn't imagine that anyone would apply a strategy where fluctuations can eat your whole investment. I just looked it up and the drop was only about 10% of the total value. crazy.

this has to be mental illness
you have your generational wealth and you put it all in a position that can be liquidated on the basis of a single tweet btw not even a market wide disaster like luna, the coof or ftx
and the biggest joke is that tweet will be taco'd soon enough

from the earlier stories before nu/biz/ you heard people making the greatest mistakes in the 500k -2MM range because this is peak uncomfortable
too much too lose, not enough to quit
but if you make it to 15 mil you ensure you got your forever out of the cagie bag packed and then only ever hold spot, who the fuck do you go way out on the risk curve there, to fill a void in your soul cause it certainly isnt about living

anyways learn from this day newfag lurkers never use leverage, never not even once

If you didn’t sell/stop loss within 5% of the dip, your a fucking moron, if you sold after that? Your even bigger moron. This shit happens every year, crypto goes down for a month or two, and then inevitably goes back up, people aren’t actually so retarded as to totally dump an asset when you lose that much right? Your literally only losing that if you sell it, and so long as the crypto wasn’t totally rug pulled, it will inevitably recover, you’ve just got equity locked up in an investment that, at worst, you can’t access for a few years, sucks yeah, but wanna know what sucks more? This is the tip of the iceberg
The ENTIRE crypto space is built on using cheap money and leverage
If china is serious about limiting resources to the u.s., big tech and crypto are going down like 80-90%, with most crypto seeing effectively 100% losses
If we do see a rebirth of crypto, it will be government cbdc's, with the more valuable ones being based on gold, oil, or some combination of resources

Why these social media twats think they're anything special? Literally millions of people lost all their shit in crypto over the years.
People in the past had less data points to work with. "Traders" in 2025 that haven't realized that all of this is a scam have absolute shit for brains.
After exact same shit has happened to millions of people over multiple years, how in the fuck do you get surprised by a flash dump.
They are either absolutely blinded tmby greed to the point of not seeing the obvious, or absolute fucking retards.
How the fuck are you not expecting flash dumps in 2025.

To consolidate the unrealised p&l effectively destroying your money if somebody is practicing the giga long term "buy and hodl". I can see the logic if your trade something that is bleeding money to maintain, like a call option in stocks that is bleeding delta and theta, and its expiry means its value drops to 0. If you invest long term passively, the only situation i see you would do that is if you think the asset is going to 0, but if you actually think that on that asset, maybe invest somewhere else? Other use of the stop loss would be if the underlying is not producing enough returns and you fins a different strat with a higher expected value, but for the passive investor with no margin its just a money destruction machine

Can someone explain to me why everyone is freaking out about this? A 10% dip that has partially recovered 24 hours later is sending everyone into meltdown? BTC is up 100% in the last 12 months and 300% up if you've been actually invested in crypto since normies started getting into it during covid. Sure it was a hit to the wallet but can these people really not survive a week of their investment being a little low?
>>
>>61100894
>if someone said it on twitter it can't be true
Almost every man knows that crying like a bitch in front of women gives them an instinctual ick, because almost every man experienced it first hand during their first couple relationships.

Women say they want it, but when it happens they actually don't. And it's not even their fault
>>
>>61100910
I'm honestly confused too but I read somewhere that it was like the highest number of liquidations ever recorded in crypto. So apparently a particularly huge amount of people were using leverage, probably expecting an explosion in October.

What actually happened is Asia had a bunch of holidays last week and mostly shut down its exchanges, which meant really low volume and low reserves held on those exchanges. Historically low volume this time around. Now a lot of idiots thought that this meant the price would explode upwards because of scarcity. But people with a lot of crypto are well aware of this and try to purposely instigate liquidations by triggering stop losses at times like this. So the whales tried to force liquidations and succeeded in a big way with a ton of leveraged people getting wiped out. And Trump timed his comments about China perfectly with this. So now we're here.

Got it, so really a lot of people who try to game the system found their gamble didn't pay off. I'm reading a lot about people holding alt coins losing big too, so really this is just cutting the fat. I don't know how people can get crypto wallets in the millions and not convert it to BTC or ETH for holding purposes, or at least having a sensible reserve in those coins. Nobody should be 90-100% liquidated in these situations who wasn't asking for it or aware of the risks

It's true. The whole appeal of a 1st world country is stability. The way Trump tweets shit at the drop of a hat, then backtracks, then reverts, then backtracks again is some Venezuela-tier shit.
If I wasn't an American, I wouldn't see the appeal of moving here right now for that reason alone. God knows where we'll be when the regime changes, or where we'll be when it changes again.

I lost everything by trying to go big (for me) into a new crypto project back in 2022. I thought if I could just own .001% of a big enough coin I could live off interest. I was so close to almost making it that I thought I couldn’t lose and if I did I’d just make it back. But that’s not how it really worked when I scrounged up enough to buy a small bag the thought of losing again made me physically sick. I isolated, broke off my engagement because I knew I’d never be the man I was when she met me and payed off every debt I had to at least have something to show for the time spent investing in crypto. So I wish everyone who recently lost big good luck and I hope it doesn’t effect you like it effected me.

It's amazing how all 4 replies talk out their ass. If you're not just looking at BTC it's not a 10% flashcrash. Most alts dropped way over 50%, so enough to liquidate even a 2x leverage trade, and the also stayed way down, so even just holding spot you lost like 40+%
Also in crypto there is no leverage decay in crypto, reaching your liq price for a split second is enough to trigger the event and poof your money belongs to the market maker now. Which is why these flash crashes happen in the first place.

Behold, gentlemen - the nuclear shit-test.
The Mother of All Shit-Tests.

The Little Boy of shit-tests, a bonafide, certified, all-in-one shit-test, ripe and ready to be dropped on He-roshima.
You see, "opening up" is the perfect shit-test, because whereas with most regular shit-tests, women try to tease something out of you, this one lets YOU do all the self-incrimination (so to speak.)

NEVER fucking open up to a woman. Countless millions of poor morons fell for that. I did too, once, when I was a younger man. I'm not that stupid anymore.
The real trick, my /biz/raelis, is to *pretend* like you're opening up with bullshit non-problems, so that a woman assumes you have no real problems.

Allow me to explain.

If you never open up to a woman, she'll do this gay retarded shit of "WAAAH YOU'RE NOT OPENING UP TO ME!"
But if you ever *actually* open up, she WILL fucking leave you.

The proper move here is to "open up" with some shit that she *wants* for you to say, but that's never actually opening up.
AKA,
>Damn, my coffee was cold today - this is the worst thing that's happened to me in a year...
And then you get her to make you coffee or some shit.

That's what women mean when they say you should "open up" to them.
They want to hear about your problems, but only as long as your problems aren't actually problems, but simply confirmations that you have no actual problems.

They do this because they are children.
Keep your eyes peeled, my fellow /biz/faggots.

P.S. I don't know what the hell spot is, baby, but I'm gonna need to see your assets, and I ain't talking about your portfolio. ;))
(Unless you're female [cock and balls] in which case, I retract the previous sentence.)

>The best part is they STILL don’t get it’s a risk asset.

Everything is a risk asset when you play with borrowed money.

>hmm I could turn my 5 rupees into 10 if I have discipline and patience
>no, I'm going to use my 5 rupees to take out a loan for 500 and gamble with it
>I'm up by 1000 rupees!
>I could take my profits and return the money I borrowed...
>no, I'm going to double down and try for 10,000 rupees
>ack! I got liquidated
>>
I just don’t get it. It’s exactly like the gambler quote. If you make it to low 7 figs just cash out enough to have a home and car paid for in cash and like 500k in safe index funds/money market funds to make sure that you never have to get desperate for work. Only then should you decide to continue being degenerate with your investments, whatever happens you will still be OK

These anons are right that you should never open up truly to a woman, however the whole macho andrew tate behave like a troglodyte bullshit is also wrong.
Women get the ick from true vulnerability, but they also want to see some level of sensibility that shows you are not a psychopath.
The point is to "open up" about things that have already been resolved and with which you've already made peace, not with the things that are actually hurting you.
Example: talk about how your dead grandma would bake your favorite cake when you were a kid, as a single tear rolls down your face = women will love it. However it only works if you are doing well and over it. But when you are truly feeling alone and desperate, never ever open up to a woman, they will absolutely get the ickest of icks. And yes, they will tell you non-stop to open up, but you shall never do it. I used to think therapy is super gay, but you should think of a therapist as a prostitute: if you are unable to keep it in and must talk with someone, dump all that emotional hurt onto some therapist whore for a few bucks, and then go back home relieved without having to do it to the women in your life.
If you open up to men, they will think you are a faggot, but they will not care later and will stay your friends. With women it's over forever.
>>
>>61102086
>I just don’t get it. It’s exactly like the gambler quote.
