I made a few hundred grand off crypto and shared it with my friends, in just a few weeks they all turned on me and no longer seem to like me and are passive aggressive. Have known them since high school. I wasn't even showing off, I just shared it.

Has this happened with anyone else or anything similar?

Lesson learned

Wealth breeds resentment in others. Keep it quiet.
>>
>>61107930
Idiot. Never tell anyone you got rich.
Except maaaaybe your mom.
>>
>>61107951
This. Don't tell fucking anybody, nothing good will come of it
>>
>>61107930
The hand that gives is superior to the hand that take. You just emasculated them all, but this was no simple display of knowledge or dominance. You gave them something that really had punch to it. Cash. In the future, don't be so generous. Make people earn it hard if they want any at all. They will respect you infinitely more than if you just throw money at them to "be good."

It is a necessity. Zero sum game. 2% inflation is the non-sum part, that's negligible if you aren't hooked to the printer. OP can not be friends with poor people anymore. Example: One of the friends gets a disease. 20% of OP's money could increase his chance of survival from 10% to 70%. Next emergency is guaranteed. Wealth is a matter of life and death. On a side note, OP needs to refrain from using homosexual phrases like "sharing" or "passive aggressive".

we live in different kind of circles, my friends know I trade crypto and I know they trade crypto
>>
>>61107930
Move, make new friends then come back 5 -10years later. That's how you reset old friends.
>>
>>61107980
Kek, AI thinks youths still know the pre-faceberg meaning of "sharing".

I advised my friend to sell his bitcoins in January when the price hit 108k, he took my advice and bought a house with it
>>
>>61107930
pay the bill on an expensive dinner and youre a hero, donate the same sum to the same people and now youre a villain
just about everything in life seems to just be manipulative marketing. everything is le good and le bad simultaneously.
>>
>>61108034
not sure which one of you is the bigger retard
>>
>>61108034
That's a better situation because you can't reasonably sell a house you use as shelter for someone else's emergency. But remember, huge inequality in wealth = deadly situation.

I guess you live in an entirely different kind of culture

what if your friends are rich

get better friends. i have 500k but so do most of my friends because we all make 150k-200k.

I have 0k can i be your friend, I'm expensive and require deposits monthly.
>>

Thanks for the replies. Fuck them
>>
>>61107930
It's these same type of people who rage over a tweet because they degen'd their life savings on a memecoin.
>>
>>61108218
I'm wondering this as well. I've always thought of my friends as richer than me but I think I've surpassed them and I'm not sure how it's gonna go over. Sure you can try "not telling anyone" but it's kinda obvious if you're buying houses and stuff, which is what anyone would/should do with money if you're using the houses to support and spend time with loved ones.

I'm bi and yes.

I dealt with family lawsuits after I let my brother and sister see the family trust. Never tell anyone what you're worth. People, even family, can be fucking scum suckers.
>>
>>61108421
what could they possibly sue you for

probably their share of daddy's money that this jew was hoarding

Not a Jew. Also I inherited over a million dollars in debt alongside some property.

My friend learned I made money in crypto so he bought 15k worth of alts with massive leverage to 'catch-up' to me. He lost all of it in the flash crash and now I just feel really bad.
>>
>>61108666
that wasnt your fault, satan

My frens don't seem to mind but we I see cracks forming. It's the remarks about their own jobs and hostility to my advice to invest that puzzles me. Like brothers, we were all stoners together day dreaming of ways to escape the rat race. I fojnd the exit, please listen!!
>>
>>61107930
>mixing friendship and finances
Rookie mistake. They are no longer your friends, because you ruined it. Time to make new ones
>>
>>61108272

"I am leveraged to the tits, but I hope it works out". It's not that fucking hard to keep the resentment in check

Every trustfund baby is taught from a early age to get a meme job, real or not, for plausible deniability and to not build resentment among their peers. "I work from home as a private consultant in [insert industry you used to work in]" covers all your bases and is boring enough to never become a topic of conversation unless you bring it up yourself
>>
>>61108746
>yes bro and it looks like I'm going to be margin called any day now. Can I please borrow $50? I swear I'll pay you back on Friday when I get my paycheck.
Learn to normgroid.
>>
>>61108818
This is good advice too. Owing people money gets seared into their memory for years
>>
>>61107947
Not only wealth, looks also. If you get more women attention they resent it
Same for intelligence, it sucks
>>
>>61107930
You're not supposed to tell anyone, if you got rich or made a great amount of money, the first thing they'll do is think you're a liar. If they actually believe it's true or you show it's true (by buying something). They'll become even more upset and resentful. You can't win with ever telling anyone you made a lot of money. I made that mistake with my family and my Dad was acting like it was his money and was telling me what to do with it, my sister got inconceivably butthurt and started flashing her 401k by accident every-time she was around me and investing like crazy all while keeping contact minimal with me. My other sister flat out doesn't speak to me anymore although she was a bitch from the beginning.

You're basically popping people's egos and/or getting them upset because they see other people's successes as luck because they're narcissistic. An interesting point is that people who get deeply upset when they find out you're rich usually saw you as beneath them and for you to suddenly be wildly more successful than them in terms of investments is a surreal gut punch/rug pull.
>>
>>61107930
Nobody respects people who made money in crypto.
You should have said you had stock or real estate investments. Everyone respects those.
>>
>>61108862
Brutal
>>
>>61108777
Actually we are taught from an early age not to fuck it all up and “no monay lasts 3 generations” and are forced to sink or swim in a way that there are a lot of drug addicts in very big families. Sad
>>
>>61107994
You are a retard lmao
>>
>>61109102
They're not mutually exclusive. You can be taught more than one thing
>>
>>61107930
Stop talking about crypto if you still value your friendships. I made it. I stopped shilling bitcoin when it went to $8k USD. I just stopped. I cant fix stupid. So I dont talk about it.
>>
>>61107930
They were never your friends.
>>
>>61109129
Well “meme jobs” don’t really do shit to help keep the wealth and are for the women anyway. If you’re not a doctor or lawyer then you have to learn how to start a small business, work for your larger competitors or your doing construction to just maintain property.
The ones that refuse to leave the party phase all become drug addicts so yes, it’s completely one or the other.

they do if you have enough wealth to begin with and dont spend beyond a self-set 'allowance'.
>>
>>61109239
>They were never your friends.
Sad to say that's the case.

Stepfather has a friend that got immensely rich running restaurants. He did not get that rich, but I'm helping him get there. Regardless, they enjoy fishing and continue to drink beer on the pier. There are not many friendships like that.
>>
>>61107930
Nice being rich huh
>>
>>61107930
Gave some money to my cousin when she was in a tough spot during covid, grateful at first then a few weeks after she got pussed at me and blocked me. It was an expected reaction because I knew helping people, especially when it's unsollicited, usually make them dislike you. I was still willing to help her.
It's ok it blew over.
>>
>>61107930
People are niggers.
>>
The only useful lesson I learned in life is never tell anyone about your money. Only tell people that you're broke, and that's it. People either resent you for having more or are glad that you have less.
>>
>>61108218
When you start to pass them in net worth they act like every other poorfag.

I have/had a rich friend who all he does anymore is brag about shit he's doing and puts me down when I talk about what I'm doing.
He knows I passed him and is grasping at whatever he can to make himself feel good.

A lot of rich people begin to make it their identity and use it as a crutch and their superiority is shattered when you pass them they can't handle it or be happy for you or even give you good advice it literally becomes a contest and they become extremely uncool.

No you didn't, you found a mafia to join.
>>
Yeah never tell anyone how much you make. My gf thinks i make like 60k a year and we live in a shidhole apartment but I'm actually pushing 250k this year and we live in a shidhole apartment.
>>
>>61107930
Sorry to hear that anon. You’re a good person and got taken advantage of.
>>
You and your friends are no longer equal. Maybe you didn't "make it" but they are poor and no longer on your level.
What they resent is that they know rhey are beneath you and you are still acting like you are equal poors. If you just accept that you are now their superior and allow them to be in their comfort zone which is poor and subservient to you, they feel better.
>>
>>61108274
No such thing.
>>
>>61108272
live modestly, only buy one house, not an overly lavish one, a functional one with enough space for what you want to do in it. keep your old car, keep it going by fixing it, don't buy flashy things. you may ask what's the point of being rich then? the point of being rich is not having to worry about money all the time.
>>
>>61107930
don't hang around shitskins
>>
>>61107930
And by "sharing" you mean you showed it off or did you give them money?
>>
>>61112372
showed off, should have clarified
