Is it even worth selling on Ebay anymore? The fees are ridiculous now and buyers are allowed to get away with scamming.
>>

I bought a bunch of cheap silver some months ago and it was pretty decent. Who knows now though.
>>
>>61116445
ebay is fantastic as buyer, but pure nightmare fuel as sellers.
They REALLY need to calm down on the commission fees. Stealing 15% of your money isn't acceptable when most others propose 5-10% max (but they have shit visibility so ebay still win in the end).
>>
>>61116445
Its basically like working for eBay with the amount of fees and trying to stay within their "rated seller" system. Totally takes away from being a side hustle or own business type venture when eBay leaches fees from you and make you tow their line
>>
trash unless you're selling things you barely paid any money for. I used Facebook marketplace and ebay is my last option now.
>>
>>61116555
fb marketplace is torture because the average person is a brown nigger or a 65 IQ methoid white.

This.
>>
>>61116530
And that 15% cuts directly into your profit margin. If you are at <15% profit margin, your ebay business is already dead.

So far it's been going surprisingly well for me. Ebay's fees and shipping are just too much now that i'd rather sell local if possible.
>>
>>61116530
They raised not just their standard fees but the shipping labels, which used to be dirt cheap if not free. I hope Etsy gets more popular so Ebay has competition.
>>
Feebay can suck my entire ass. I always message people and let them know they can save money by going through my instagram page directly. But for some younger people who don’t have access to anything but mommy’s credit card (I sell action sport parts+accessories) eBay is the only option.

I just sell on Craigslist
>>
>>61116622
so don't buy high and sell low...
>>
>>61116574
This.
>>
>>61116842
Craigslist is partly owned by eBay.
>>
>>61116858
Oh. Cool

Hey wait a second ebay sold its stake in 2015
>>
>>61116445
i stopped selling on ebay in 2022. not worth dealing with the scammer and POS. facebook local groups, in person only. for collectables and such i use a company that specializes in ebay sales and deals with all the bullshit, not worth their fee unless it's a 100+ dollars worth of stuff, but then you just drop it off and they deal with everything, you get a check. yeah its sometimes 35% of the total value but its 0 work past acquiring the item.

Good. Damage was done.
>>
>>61116902
This is a dumb question but how do you keep in-person sales safe? Meet them at a library or coffee shop? And take CashApp/Venmo/Cash (use fraud detecting pen) only?
>>
>>61117021
You must live in a big city. Either way, their speech/ syntax tells you all you need to know.
>>
>>61116530
i bought something from the us (im from spain) and im waiting 5 days with no updates

>>

>Is it even worth selling on Ebay anymore?
its not even worth buying on ebay anymore, the shipping costs internationally are a joke, often more than the item
>>
>>61119577

I've stopped buying auto parts on there due to tariffs. The tax + tariffs + shipping + duty + exchange fee is often more than what the seller even gets in their account.

Ebay is just the same if you're a seller. You have to deal with low-IQ morons all the time. I know that if I get a message it's just somebody wasting my time.

The UK has changed it's fee structure. They announced last year they were removing all seller fees, then once they'd advertised it for months and obviously enough sellers had moved on to the platform and listed enough items they implemented a buyer's fee.
Now every buyer pays a 'protection fees'. They're literally running a legalised protection racket.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/buying/paying-items/buyer-protection-fee?id=5594

They are absolute scum, the entire company seems to be inept and worked itself out to the inevitable conclusion of the Peter Principle. They are the epitome of enshitification.

I'm only speaking of my experience in the UK but customer services don't deal with anything, if you call them up they are all foreign, they sound Eastern European, maybe Romanian, and they just say they'll pass on your issues to someone and nothing gets done.
All their systems seem to run on AI now and automatically ban listings and if you complain the listings get stuck, you can't delete or change them and the AI never updates your case.
The new 'Simple Delivery' options are broken. For example, I opt out of sending by Royal Mail because I have to travel much further to drop off items than the other option, Evri. But if I select a postable sized package it still sends by Royal Mail, I can't change this once it's happened, the label is automatically purchased so I have to make a long trip to a Post Office to send a couple pounds worth of item. So, I have to list every item as being larger than what it actually is so that it will send by my chosen courier. Customer services are clueless when I complained about it and actually broke all my hundreds of listings delivery options when I called them and I had to go through every single one to revert them back to what they were.

A few years ago I built a new PC and sold my old one on Egay. In the listing I stated that I didn't accept returns for any reason. Some fag in Texas bought it and I shipped it to him, upon arrival he proceeded to take the parts he wanted then smashed everything else with a hammer. He cried to Egay and claimed it was damaged during shipping and they forced me to refund him and told me if I wanted my destroyed PC back I'd have to pay return shipping.

Ever since then I haven't bought or sold anything from that godawful site, fuck them.

>I stated that I didn't accept returns for any reason.
simple returns are different from problems like receiving something else than you ordered, item not being as described etc
