you can start here and do everything perfectly if you just buy spot BTC every month, note in a sheet how much you bought, transfer to a custody wallet if you want, so no future authoritarian tax extracting or exchange banning regime can take it from you, then never sell more than you had a year ago. that way you don't have to report anything to finance authorities. perfectly legal.
also don't get distracted by altcoins. Bitcoin is worth something because of the work/energy put into it. alts don't have that. that's the best advice you can get
