Applied for a job with a cleaning company so I can finally put that Bachelor of Science to work.
Started working again recently after neeting the last 3/4 years. Found a job that seemed promising for the pay, the effort, the benefits, the regime and the resume experience. I will do this for a while then either neet again or pivot into a better job with better compensation. But I feel sorry for the wagies who have no alternative because bills/family/debt/despair. I fell for the compsci meme and it has been devastating to my early 20s, I course corrected and moved into behavioral sciences and passed my BCBA exam. Finally making just over six figgers. I'm surrounded by chicks which is kind of annoying because they are so catty but this is better than being jobless and looking at ropes on amazon. It took 3.5 years to un-fuck my life after college. Only one single friend has been successful with his degree, the rest got fucked.

When I went to college in 2009, there was some hype around CS but it was still largely a backwater department. You had to find CS on your own. The classes were more theoretical and there was expectation that you learned various programming languages as needed on your own. This filtered out the "degree = mealticket" types.Then, Big Tech started realizing that engineers were expensive and constantly jumping around for higher compensation. Post GFC VC's were throwing stupid money at stupid businesses with the hope of nailing a unicorn startup. They had to treat us well, which businesses really did not like. Thus came the push to "get more women to code" and "teach kids to code", "teach Africans to code", etc. They wanted to drive down the cost of labor.At the same time, universities needed to boost enrollment and graduation rates for CS degrees because nobody wanted to study CS, so they started dumbing down the classes. Even at my state university, the second course in CS/Comp. Eng. used to be pointers and data structures in C; half of the students were business majors by the end of the semester. That course is now a basic Python class. Even MIT cut their curriculum down (also pic related is now in Javascript, lol). The undergrads whined the classes were too hard and they weren't learning "practical" skills, so the universities listened and gave them wagie vocational training.Now everyone and their dog has a Computer Science degree and it's a lot harder to stand out from the retards vibecoding NodeJS shitware on Vercel because Theo Browne told them everything else is "dead".
