Nice thread dude

The average 24 year old CS grad is working at Subway

No average of any demographic is living good. Some are living okay. Most are not doing good by any useful or honest metric.

Doesn't CS currently have the highest unemployment rate out of any major?

The cope is strong with this one

No?

Computer engineering is a little higher actually. That's what they get for pussying out of analog circuit design and becoming EE chads

>>
I did 2 years labouring and 4 years apprentice and I'm making more than a first year cs grad with no debt. Also can make 100k or 60 an hr as a senior leader in construction

>>61198726
>can make 100k as senior
>"can"
>only 100k
>"as senior leader"

Apprentice is a title like junior analyst or something of that sort. He was getting paid as an apprentice you retard.
>>
Engineers don't know how things work in the real work. You can't design everything on your little PC modeller. I'm tired of fixing their fuck ups
>>
>>61198726
Yeah but you have to work with 80 IQ retards every day for the rest of your life

>>61198405
It’s quite high yeah, if you aren’t the guy who can make 200k+ you’re competing with Indians for the lowball work

I'm sorry for your lead poisoning or something

>>61198358
Yeah why would anyone be an executive producer of an animated series when that'll only last like 3 years and you'll still make less annually than a software engineer? Same goes for feature length film directors.

>The average 24 year old CS grad is working at Subway
the average 30 year old is on prediction markets like drift and prophex winning all day

You have to work with women in the office so thats the same or worse

Unironically 100% accurate but people don't want to acknowledge it because they're coping. The entire labor pipeline has broken down and the consequences are rapidly mounting.
>>
check all jobs done using a pc will be replaced by AI
>>
Why I hope out of pure resentment that AI nukes them. Became an EE and the average EE civil engineer earns about the same as a junior code monkey that has a fraction of the responsibility. Of course it scales and an elite EE 's earnings potential doesn't even come close to a senior developer, even if the EE is responsible for the health and functioning of an entire regional grid.

The unemployement rate (no job at all) for cs grads is 6% you idiots
The underemployment rate (having an unrelated job such as being a cashier) is lower than in other majors because they refuse to work at mcdonalds

Sauce: https://www.newyorkfed.org/research/college-labor-market#--:explore:outcomes-by-major

You can see art mayors with something like 1-2% unemployment ratios, but 50% underemployment ratio. THAT is a major where the grads work at subway

>>61200024
>any time now
>>
>>61200060
these statistics are cooked to mask the problem, the unemployment numbers stop counting people after 4 weeks and underemployment does not count people working minimum wage IT with a CS degree
>>
>>61200060
Btw the median wage doesn include stock, rsu, etc
>>
>>61200073
Stop making stuff up dumbass
>>
>>61200083
It baffles the mind people rush to defend the system when you can just talk to people and see they've been hung out to dry. Every day I see people with advanced degrees unable to get any entry level position years after graduation and people act like it's sustainable to have zero people in the pipeline for senior level positions.
>>
Most obvious case of a "24yo cs grad" makes a thread because he's humiliated and demotivated about his choices and wants to see people debate this to make him feel better about it. Cope cs shitter, you not only missed the boat but your grades must have been shit if you felt the need to make a thread on /biz/ about this.
>>
>>61200115
This
Should have been a tradie
>>
The tech market is collapsing because of AI. Why the fuck are people STILL shilling CS as some Make It CAREER in 2025?
>>
>>61200092
>after graduation and people act like it's sustainable to have zero people in the pipeline for senior level positions.
Boomers won't be alive to see the collapse so they don't care that having a 75yo who refuses to hire anyone out of fear they could replace them is a problem.
>>
>>61198358
What the fuck are you on about buddy? Jeets are already taking all of your jobs. I hear McDonald is hiring
>>
>>61200060
>The underemployment rate is defined as the share of graduates working in jobs that typically do not require a college degree. A job is classified as a college job if 50 percent or more of the people working in that job indicate that at least a bachelor's degree is necessary
>Source: U.S. Census Bureau, American Community Survey (IPUMS).
I simply don’t trust data that is self-reported on a census survey because there’s no process of verifying the the legitimacy of responses eg lying about having a job and what that job is as well as education level, and there is probably a bias in who would even bother to take the test anyway eg someone who just spent $200k on a CS degree thinking they’d walk out of graduation making $120k/yr to work remote for Meta probably doesn’t want to fill out a survey saying how they’re living at home working a couple nights a week at a local restaurant.
Additionally, “50% of people working in that job with a college degree” is a bit vague. Does that mean if 50% or more of the bartenders who responded to the survey have a college degree that it’s defined as a job requiring a college degree for the intents of this survey?
There was no mention of using historical or job posting data to define this so it seems to imply that the criteria is self-defining. It seems retarded but we’re also talking about the government so all bets are off
>>
>>61200257
Half of boomers are retired and aside from that do you think they’re working at tech companies? That’s a massively Gen X and millennial field.
People aren’t getting hired because 70 years refuse to leave, they aren’t getting hired because companies would rather pay 3 street shitters $50k than one White American $130k
>>
>>61200060
This says it's from 2023 so it's definitely gotten higher now
>>
>>61200298
I have a swe job THOUGH

>>61200468
ditto about the other jobs, so what's your cope point?
>>
>>61201003
Its no longer sweet youre competing agaisnt the chatbot and having to constantly impress your boss while everyone works s bullshit easy job.
>>
>>61200375
>half of boomers
Boomers are 61-79 years old, they should all be retired genius. The fact 50% are still in the workforce is why shit is so fucked up.
>>
>>61201233
And you think all these boomers that are in the workforce are all in senior level tech positions? Because that’s where your argument stemmed from you double nigger faggot.
They’re working in academia and at Walmart.
They aren’t bottlenecking the workforce for recent grads you absolute mongoloid, that’s due to the mass influx of H1b workers and mass immigration in general to fill all the positions they couldn’t offshore or jeet up. You are legitimately retarded.
>>
>>61198385
massive cope lmao, me and all my friends are making north of 150k rn lol, graduated 2 years ago
