>have 1.5 million dollars
>buy 500k home
>put 1 million into S&P 500
>live off the annual yield from that and live poor for the rest of my life but not have to work
Is this a good or bad idea?
>>
Probably a better idea just to work at a local campus and have sex with the professors (female).
>>
>>61201103
You wont outrun inflation with the SP500

also dont forget about taxes
>>
>>61201192
I'm fucking the students on a regular basis so ya.
>>
>>61201103
Bad because then you're poor if you're right, broke and dead if you're wrong.

$1 million in the S&P 500:
>$40k safe annual withdrawal
>Minus property taxes, fees, utilities and other assorted bullshit
Congratulations you can now indulge in such luxuries as:
>2014 Toyota Camry, maintained with regular oil changes, filters, brakes, new tires and other repairs when needed.
>All the gas you need for said car
>All the groceries you need from Walmart
>Ability to take a vacation (coach flight, domestic only) once a year, staying in a three star hotel for a week
>Weekly meal at Chili's
>One new mid-tier graphics card a year
>$500 annual steam budget
>Netflix subscription
>Maybe health insurance
>>
>>61201103
The annual dividend yield of most S&P500 funds is ass. You have to sell in order to make enough to live

Okay, so what would you do with 1 million leftover if you don't want to work (a real job)?
>>

>>
>>61201201
You will if you don't just buy and hodl and time your entry and exit.
>>
>>61201201
You’re dumb as fuck
Inflation is like .3%
>>
>>61201103
I think if you're seriously going to do that, you might as well move to Thailand or Malaysia or whatever. Better standard of living.
>>
>>61201919
this.
And you basically have no funds for emergencies. Imagine the stock market crashes and you need to withdraw 100k for whatever reason.
You'll live like a poorfag and you'll always be worried about the market.
>>
>>61201103
seems chill. good luck bro!

Leverage your house for a loan and take a temporary hit paying interest. People with assets have options.

Catcha is flawed. Robot can just line up the white text since it stays consistent.
>>
>>61201103
This is very boring, you are going to still want to invest. Maybe do this but have a side gig that you enjoy and can make a supplement income from to invest in stuff so you can get richer instead of living lower middle class neet rest of your life
>>
>>61201103
Wouldn’t even cover the property tax
Better idea is to put all of it in TQQQ and rent an apartment
>>
>>61201201
a lot of bad advice from dumb fucks on this board
>>
>>61201103
Spend less on the house and you got a deal
>>
Keep your current lifestyle
Put that 1.5mil in S&P (or better diversify at least a bit since certain powerful people are adamant on weakening US economy)
in 10 years you would have a much better starting point even with inflation taken into account
buying home is still an option to achieve security, but do some calculation on rent vs mortgage vs paying in cash

General rule of thumb seems to be to assume you can withdraw 3-4% of your investment money. Depending how safe you want to be with it.
Are you good with 30-40k per year? Keep in mind extra expenses from owning a home and work no longer covering stuff like healthcare and dentist.
>live poor for the rest of my life
I probably would push through waging for a few more years. Your no longer working to earn more money, you are working to earn more monthly income for the rest of your life. Though only you know how much wagecucking you can still handle
>>
>>61201201
Dumb

>>61202000
Even more dumber.

This board is fucked.
>>
>>61202594
Not sure how much you expect to be saving in a few years at whatever job that is going to somehow push you out of living poor without a job and into middle class without a job.
An alternative strategy is to take breaks, not a vacation but like an entire year or two off to just do whatever you want, even if it’s nothing, and then get back to the wage cage and covering your bases while adding to your portfolio and hopefully getting that number up so the periods can be scaled up so you’re going from 6 months of same moving routine minus working to 2 years of doing the things you actually want to do without worrying about the cost.

Buy house for 100k in some shit hole. Live on 2k a month. Even if you live for 30 more years it's like 600k plus that 100k for that house in that shit hole. You still have 800k left after you die. Why do you need to invest lol.
>>
>>61201103
>Finance the home and put $100k or less for down payment
>Put the $1.4 million into the market and continue to work/invest for 3 years
>Retire early and more comfortably with $2.5+ mil
This it the gist of what I did. If it fails, I have a high salary job that should take me back quickly.
>>
Is living like a poorfag but FIRE'd worth it to escape wage slavery?
>>
>buy 9 BTC
>wait a few years
>retire with $5-10M

Better idea
>>
>>61203436
I plan on doing that soon. I guess it depends on how much you hate your job.
>>
I say be willing to work, but care less about your jobs and use them for healthcare and to meet people mostly.
>>
>s&p
enjoy -50% by 2030
>>
>>61203436
I’ve been doing it for two weeks (unironically) and so far it’s a mixed bag.
It’s nice not having to deal with customers, employees, “media”, events, ownership, various licensing board faggots, and so forth.
It really depends on what the job is and how much you can tolerate it.
IMHO unless the job has become unbearable and you don’t see a way of fixing it or you can’t pivot to something sustainable, then it’s better to just stay employed and normiemaxx.
$20-30k/yr poorfag’ing it will mean living with multiple roommates which comes with its own set of problems and you can’t even get away from these people because they’re literally in your home whereas your coworkers only exist at your job.
Budget is also going to be very tight. It’s going to be tough to take girls on dates and they may also not be so into the whole NEET thing so you just be perpetually single and living with other grown men your whole life.
That also assumes you don’t ever make it from crypto or stocks or whatever flavor of gambling you’re into.
If you can swing your bags then you’ll be ok, just don’t lose it all or your back to ground zero.

>TQQQ
if you enter before a crash it may take ages to recover
>>
>>61203918
Backtest it
>>
>>61201103
better spend 100k and buy yourself a local government position so some jew doesnt swindle you out of your property by clandestingly raising your property value taxes and stealing your house because you couldnt afford to pay it.
>>
>>61201919
you won't need the car if you don't have a job
the few times you would need to travel you could just uber or rent a uhaul if you need to move something
also lol $500 a year on games and >graphics card
but yeah health insurance will be a bitch if he's a burger, worth it to have a lowly salaried job just for that
>>
>>61201103
Better idea: Don’t waste the $500k on a property, instead keep your $1.5 million, invest it in the S&P500 and move to a cheap 3rd world country in SEA (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia) and live off the yield and live like a king. DO NOT buy any real estate whatsoever, stay flexible. I’m assuming you’re a single man in your 30s with no kids.
>>
>>61202006
L O L
Hhahahahahahahaha
No.
>>
There are no 500k homes in areas you can amass 1.5M easily

Other than that, yeah sure go for it, you probably will have some other sort of income eventually because youre bored and start a side hustle, but without any pressure
>>
>>61201919
Is this bait? You can't be this retarded
>Oh no you can only consooom this little
Pathetic
>>
>>61204131
>, invest it in the S&P500 and move to a cheap 3rd world country in SEA (Thailand, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia) and live off the yield and live like a king.
For a single male with no kids this is actually a better idea.
>>
There's no point in upgrading your lifestyle anyway, what would you do? Buy sports cars or whatever the fuck? You're probably happier just staying home and playing video games, a 4chan nerd doesn't need a luxurious life.
>>
>>61203437
Lol.
>>
>>61201919
You just need to work a little and make like $8k/year and then you can collect bennies
>>
>>61203436
Depends.
I think I could do it happily for ten years or so because I’m sick of working and have a lot of life things I want to catch up on like reading books and going for hikes, which cost nothing. I have three newer reliable cars fully paid off including a sports car so I can have fun with that. I want to get into some new hobbies which won’t cost a whole lot but will keep me occupied. So yeah I think I’d be good with it for a while but eventually I’ll need new to replace a car or two and would like to do some international travel so a bigger budget would be nice.
