doveish means non-intervention. hawkish means intervention. because hiking rates = more money printed in the form of interest. rate cuts are perceived as stimulus not because the Fed is creating more money, but because existing money leaves bonds to seek yield at better rates.

Cutting then pausing creates incentives for banks to sell their treasury holdings to realize their profit from dropping yields but since they use their treasuries for collateral in the repo market those equity positions must be unwind first
