>been in WFH job for a few years
>boring and achieving close to nothing professionally but very chill
>living in really, really crappy middle of nowhere location to minimise costs
>have job offer but would have to move to London
>would have to go in to office 3-5 times a week, pay lots for rent in a tiny (I mean really tiny) studio flat, save around £800 less per month
>would have more to do on weekends
>similar job but slightly more authority, slightly more CV cred, would feel cooler and objectively the more interesting choice

I'm 29 and if I'm in my current job in 2 years I'd consider myself a failure.

I feel cucked if I do, cucked if I don't. I can be paid well right now to live like an auraless slug who gets no real responsibilities at work. Or I can live like a cockroach slave in London.

I have around £100k in savings and I've only become more cucked and risk adverse since I was poor.

And the UK is becoming a worse place for any sort of aspiration. I'd be subsidising diverse knife wielding youths even more in London.

I think if it really helps you get a better job down the line it would be worth it. Although if it's not that much of a leap then maybe you should think of other ways to get your chances up.

Would your current job be able to promote you at all or are you just going to stay the same position for 10 years?
>>

Career is a boomer meme. Live safe, live comfortably, cultivate yourself and build a family. Nobody ever died saying I wish I did more for career advancement
>>
Didn't realize this board was for poor people.
>>
>>61313946
okay anon why don't you let us know how big your penis is?
>>
How much are you saving now? I did the inverse which is leaving London to live in the countryside and work remotely. I am saving less than in London because of a paycut and I am enjoying nature a lot, but I really miss my work colleagues and the activities that we were doing together.
>>
>>61313973
>really miss my work colleagues and the activities that we were doing together.
buddy, you hang out with your coworkers? how and WHY?
>>
>>61313973

Around £1.4k per month

I really wanted to make a british joke but i love you oP
>>

the novelty will wear off in like 8-12 weeks and you'll want to hang yourself dead for being so retarded as to give up WFH.
>>
>>61313981
I did before the pandemic, after that I went 100% remote
>>61313985
Looks like financially doesn't make any sense but I have zero regrets about moving to London and living there for almost 10 years. The best years of my life.
>>
>>61314044
>I did before the pandemic
so you had friends at work? Like you specifically talked to them and then at 5pm, you all went hey let's go to this place now?

I never had that
>>
>>61313839

Do you have any support nets in either location? If no you should go for career advancement, if yes then I would stick wherever that is.
>>
>>61314249
>support nets in either location
what kind of support nets would count as support?
>>
>>61314138
I used to go to pubs with them after work, maybe once a week, sometimes I would meet them for a house parties, pub crawls and shit like that on weekends.
>>
London blows, its a jeet trap where pups close at fucking 8pm and its overrun by muslims too. Shithole.
>>
>>61314249

If I lost my job I'd just move back in with my parents.
>>
>>61314044
Yeah you are right actually. I also moved to the capital of my country, got friends from work (the shared stress from work makes people form true feeling bonds better) and had a fucking blast with them. Easily some of the best years of my life. It’s sad that the terminally online people here don’t even realise how they are missing out on real life by being stuck here.
>>
>>61314369
>sometimes I would meet them for a house parties
HOUSE PARTIES? Who's party would you even go to?

I never had that at my workplaces. But maybe because I told them I don't drink.
>>
>>61314433
>It’s sad that the terminally online people here don’t even realise how they are missing out on real life by being stuck here.
buddy did you save a lot of money while you were there?

If not, then I think wfh is 10x better.
>>
>>61313839
Leave the UK somehow
I WfH in Texas for 100k and live next door to my parents with my own family
>>
>>61314319
Family, friends, anyone reliable

>>61314427
That’s the point yeah, have family or reliable friends around you so you can get on your feet if needed
>>
>>61314512
>Family, friends, anyone reliable
man... i wish I had friends. when my parents die I will be on my own. how do I get trustworthy friends?
>>
>>61314525
By not having a stupid mentality like this >>61314482 lmao
>>
>>61314695

okay buddy, I don't necessarily want to go to a high stress environment but even if I did. what job did you work that had you bond with your coworkers?
>>
>>61314695
how many years has it been since you left that place?

how do you know they won't leave you afterwards?
>>
>>61314497
How's texas right now?
Is it going blue or what? Economy ok?
>>
>>61314719
We were young doctors, a few nurses too.

>>61314728
I’m still living it but focused more on a relationship this past year. But of course people drift away as time goes on and things chance, it isn’t a bad thing. Leaves opportunity for new things to come.
>>
>>61314525
I think the people who form very strong friendships are generally people who have bad or no family to lean on. I would try to get a GF since you’ll need one to make it, can’t just have your parents.
>>
>>61314774
>We were young doctors, a few nurses too.
buddy my line of work is basically the opposite of that I would need to start over.
>But of course people drift away as time goes on and things chance, it isn’t a bad thing
doesn't it just cancel out the work you've done though
I'm not a party guy myself but I was expecting some help in the future we could have shaked hands on

>>61314788
>form very strong friendships are generally people who have bad or no family to lean on
yeah I think everyone around me has that currently.
>I would try to get a GF since you’ll need one to make it, can’t just have your parents.
they cost too much money big dog, I want to make it and just sleep all day
>>
>>61314753

This. I dont get op's "need" to advance. Advance to what he's already high up and in a comfy position? Muh boredom and not be challenged is a dumb excuse, it is a job, you work they pay you in return. down. If i was making 100k+ you better believe Im not wasting time "advancing muh career" and simply saving up as much as possible to escape the wagecage permanently.

>>61313973
>but I really miss my work colleagues and the activities that we were doing together.
Kek! You must be the type that pushes potlucks and mandatory after work parties arent ya.
>>
Why not both? Try to get a remote job where you only occasionally have to go into L*ndon

because if you can make more money you have more chances to gamble, i mean invest in cribtoe.

More chances to invest means maybe you only need a 10x or 5x to make it.
>>
>>61313839
Honestly anon, make the move, stack even more money, flex on weekend trips, and don’t stress the cross-border stuff. Payments are stupid easy now with xMoney, so you can bounce between countries while London anons are still arguing about rent.
