I can't believe the government charges young people usurious interest rates like this. What kind of "bootstrap pulling" logic is that? Loan tax dollars out to future tax payers and charge them 7+% interest? Significantly eat into their entry level job wages (if they can even get a job) so they can't consume or invest? Why would the government burden 22 year olds like this? I wouldn't let my kid ruin their life with this shit. My loans were 4% and that was already bullshit. Why would it ever need to be anything more than bare minimum to cover the cost of admin fees and loan servicing afterwards? It should be a bare minimum not for profit rate, just to cover the cost of doing business.
College should be paid for by the government.
