when something other than the stock market becomes the dominant asset and capital rotation happens.
A true crash is some kind of rotation event that lasts for years.

That's only happened twice in a hundred years. In 1929 and during the Dot Com crash. Given our wreckless money printing and the fact that we can let poor Boomer's starve there's no chance of that happening nowdays

Problem was it was a "crash" based on circumstances that had nothing to do with the stock market, it wasn't a true capital rotation event. We're well into the upswing of that.
If recovery takes less than 3 years I'm not counting it as a crash. We've recovers instantly.
>>61365505
The stock market was an entirely flat line all the way from 2000 to 2012.
Twice in a hundred years is significant, that means more than 25 years of capital rotation in that time period.
>We can let boomers starve and be fine
They are literally the entire economy, the stock market is their retirement accounts, luxury spending is the US economy, they are the housing market - they starve and we all go down, stocks-wise.
>>
>>61365505
this is what I'm thinking. basically since the dotcom we just decided that printing until the boomers are dead is the solution. we still have until like 2035 on the short end.

>>
The American economy and de-facto stock market is a function of an era and people that no longer exist. Hardworking white men and women who fought and died, toiled for the greatness of the United States of America was who this long forgotten system was for. Our current reality and economic system no longer represents these individuals and their strict adherence to truth, discipline and justice, but to a class of parasite and foreigner. One that takes no stake of it's own to build upon these pillars, but schemes to diminish what remains of the people that built the country it now infests.

Which is why they won't let it happen. 2008 and 2020 taught us that they're willing to let the USD become so devalued as long as asset classes can be propped up. Since we can't have deflation a multi year stock market crash would lead to soviet style bread lines

You’re too stupid to see how you’ve been tricked, even when it’s right in front of your face. You cry about Jews, meanwhile you completely ignore the guys point that Muslims won the mayorship in NYC two decade after they attacked it.

Here’s a hint: there’s 2 billion of them, and most of them hate Jews. They’d much rather have you convinced it was a Jewish conspiracy so you look the other way when the Muslims outbreed you. They’re more than happy to see you blame the Jews while their numbers grow and grow. And then you’re going to wake up one day and find yourself surrounded by them and realize maybe you got tricked into fighting the wrong enemy. It’s happened in many other countries.

It was dancing Arabs but even then it was considered a conspiracy theory slur and nobody cared about it. Arabs were the oppressed ones after 9/11 never Jews because they had everything to do with it. The only thing that a Jew ever did was own Building 7 iirc.

Yeah, significantly better. Markets have lifespans, it's always happened this way.
Investing is pilling up capital where people think it will have the most impact, and a 14 year bear market would be a very small pile of capital in place, that would make mine proportionally much larger. As it is right now I'm fighting a 14 year pile of compound interest and I'm ready to miss a few years of gains if it means I'm safe.

The point is, the guy is making a genuine grievance. It’s valid that NYC having a Muslim mayor is bad for traditional American values and the identity of the country at large. The guy himself may not be the devil, but it’s what he represents. You can say what you want about Obama and being the first black President, but blacks were always here in America, even if only as slaves. Muslims has no part of its founding, growth, or identity. Yet here they are now as mayor in its largest city.

So when you bitch about Jews instead, you’re doing a disservice by taking attention away from a real issue. It’s not the place to bring it up.

Dumbest shit I've seen all day. Show me the "western culture" in any Muslim dominated country.

I (Christian not Jew before asked) am in a unique position where i interact with jews and muslims all the time. The muslims lies are constant. Their only thought is how can they make you, the infidel, do what they want. The Jews on the other hand never bother me. It's not a race or cultural thing either. I've met other Christians from the same arab countries and they behave completely different.

So I started dipping my toes into stocks for the first time 2 months ago, opening small positions (~$3000 each) in a handful of extremely boring blue chip stocks with the following criteria:

- Well below ATH
- Reasonable P/E
- Annual revenue increasing every year for the past 5 years

I thought this was an incredibly conservative approach with limited downside risk. I foresaw a worst case scenario of losing maybe 10% over the next year. Imagine my fucking irritation when EVERY ONE of these stocks is fucking ROCKETING plus or minus 20 fucking percent EVERY week, usually to the downside, and I am down over 20% on literally EVERY single one of the stocks I chose. In 2 months. Holy flying fuck. Stocks are such a joke of an asset class it's unreal.

Im not a fundementals guy, so maybe you have something there with your metrics
but when constructing a portfolio I look to create allocations of securities that don't have my correlation (beta) to the broad market. As you're finding out if the market moves, stocks with a lot of beta move too
commodity, crypto, real estate, bonds, intl stock, different sector etfs, etc can all help break diversify your holdings then put a smaller section into high beta growth bubbly stocks (quantum, AI, etc)

just some ideas from an anon to think about for next time

The real redpill is that the whole market moves together. It doesn't matter if you get 10 different stocks with different pros/cons, they all go up and down together, sure there may be some slight variations, but the overall trend is the same.

You only have two real options to make money:
1.) Do what you did during a bull market, looking at monthly charts to time long term trends and just being patient. (Switching to inverse ETFs during bear markets)

2.) Day trade and take all of your money out overnight and only investing in intra-day variations so that you can tightly control all your positions.

The whole year can be divided into Bull/Bear periods, the greatest volatility is in between these times, which we are in right now.
Feb-Apr - Bear (Tariffs)
Apr - Aug - Bull (Tariffs Over)
Aug - Sep - Bear (Correction)
Sep - Nov - Bear (Correction Over)
Nov - Current - Bear (Tech bubble popping)

Right now would be a good time to day trade looking for shorts or get some inverse ETFs. No tech stock will go up for the next several weeks and potentially months. It does not matter how innovative, or how much profit they are making, the whole market is going to go down.
>>
>>61366413
Yeah i wouldn't go that far. 79% voted Kamala.

>>61366420
70% cash is perfect. Here's the secret to a "crash" just keep averaging down in small increments until it stops. Imagine the worst case scenario for trying to gauge how much to do. Like if the market drops 20% over a month you dont want a lot in now. You want more money in closer to that -20. The risk your trying to weigh is actually time. Will the market flash crash like april and quickly bounce back or will it drag over several years? So the amount has to be something you're willing to sit on for a long time.
>>
>>61366463
depends, if it's a taxable acct, yes, if it's IRA, etc, noap

-$3000 income if it hasn't changed, then you can save the rest of the losses to offset cap gains later (and use another 3K on your normal income again in the following years) until it's all used up
>>
could it be possible we're witnessing an archegos level implosion before our very eyes?
>>
>>61366434
AMZN, MSFT, CRM all in the low 30s, and forward PE in the low 20s. ADBE in the low 20s, PYPL about to break below 10 for fuck's sake. CRM, ADBE, PYPL, AMZN all way below ATH. COST is a heap of shit, I shouldn't have bought it, yet it's drastically outperforming PYPL on every conceivable time frame and sitting at a PE of 50 despite growing revenue slower than PYPL.

>>61366432
That's the thing, many of the stocks (CRM, AMZN, ADBE, PYPL) have been completely divorced from the S&P all year long or even multiple years, yet now when the S&P is dumping, they're suddenly in lockstep.
>>
>>61366477
Exactly. Diversification is the biggest meme there is
>>
>>61366477
Ok so the bubble is popping, but what the hell are people rotating into? Not everyone is day trading, especially institutions with billions they'd have to get in/out daily. They have to be rotating into something. I thought surely they'd rotate into cash flow machines that have been neglected during the AI euphoria, yet those very companies are sharting as bad as anything despite being at multi year lows in many cases.

They (me) are rotating into inverse ETFs. I have only a single position in my entire portfolio now which holds with 10% of my net worth, PLTZ. Inverse PLTR. It went up 14% today and I made thousands of dollars, I will do the same tomorrow, and the next day, for a couple more days or weeks until the market begins to recover then I will get out ASAP.

There are no stocks that go up in a bear market, the meme that you can rotate into staple goods, or defense stocks, or gold, is all a meme. They will all go down. There is no magic stocks that avoid the dump, just look back at feb-april for confirmation. I don't know where this meme came from but it is just one of those things like diversification which just isn't true.

yep, correlations go to 1 during crashes, even for the most well thought out peacetime diversification

VYM might be interesting to look into, all equity, but diversified div payers

Chart shows the last 23 days, QQQ down 7.5%, SPY -5% and VYM -2.5% over that period (same sort of protection during the April drawdown)

of course if you look at YTD performance QQQ is above both SPY and VYM (with VYM behind the pack)

Thats why the saying "time in market vs timing the market" came to be, you have to collect in order to survive the drawdowns

one more random bit of advice, after you start piling in and everything recovers, remember if you feel like taking a screenshot to brag, it's probably a good time to take some profit
>>
>>61366590
Looks like it is peaking and the chart is just about to turn over and dump like everything else. You might have found the optimal late entry short right there. You can just look back at the tariff dump in February and see that it does not have any market independence.

All cash or things that trade opposite to how the stock market trades, yeah. You can always gradually hold more cash and safe-haven assets. If it's something safe like 80-10-10 you're only losing out on 20% but you're securing not ACKing yourself.
I don't know about all-cash, just enough to not get raped by margin call 90% crash shenanigans, but if you just started last november you don't even have a lot in the market.
