I bought a Kia Forte new during COVID for $20k. It depreciated to $16k the moment I drove it off the lot, and it is still worth $16k blue book today. I financed it for 3 years and paid it off in 2.5. It's mine now, it does everything I need, and I never have to worry about it breaking down. (I would have bought a good used car but COVID fucked the used market, it would've cost $15k to get a used car worth a damn but new car prices were tanking and I absolutely had to have reliable transportation so it actually made sense to buy new at that time.)I'd love to buy something new like a high end corvette, but there's absolutely no reason to even consider it unless I make it and can afford a fancy toy like that. Pic related is $250k (it's the top end trim with 1250 HP -- almost a hypercar). I wouldn't be comfortable buying something like that until I had $25M in the bank. There's just no point. Financial freedom is more important. It is always more important. Only once you have financial freedom can things like fun sports cars enter the picture.
