Shit like free energy or portable fusion reactors would nuke the energy sector overnight but also possibly temporarily halt war for long enough to figure out if someone came up with something better than nukes.
The types of industries that would be able to exploit alien materials would primarily be in the defense industry or close enough so that governments could directly funnel money into them via contract vehicles. Almost all of the major tech companies fall into this camp.
I think disclosure will only happen if the dollar is about to blow up. The only solution will be bitcoin.
