Today, I was telling people in my group chat that people under 21 are screwed. By the time they graduate from university, most entry level jobs will be gone. Should they even go to college? I also added that there is an endless supply of labor that keeps growing so wages will never increase. Some dude kept arguing with me and he was saying ai will increase productivity and increase the amount of jobs and that I know nothing about macroeconomics. I told him normies are screwed. Who was right, /biz/?
>>61477047You're both right. Most entry level jobs will be gone but productivity will also increase.
>>61477058Also entry level jobs are already gone, esp. in AI-integrated fields like programming where they were filled with Indians.
>>61477058He said “there will be more jobs.” I even made sure to say “productivity might increase but pay won’t” before him.
>>61477047ai most certainly won't increase the amount of jobs, the whole selling point is that it decreases the amount of jobs/bodies you need to pay to get the same thing done, will it fulfill that promise? to be determined.
>>61477047>>61477058>>61477077>>61477081>>61477083WARNING WARNING WARNING>WARNING WARNING WARNINGThis is a paid advertising thread. AI companies are trying to hype up their product on social media (including plebbit, xitter, and YES: 4chan) after their companies have been posting massive financial losses. DO NOT fall for the shilling.WARNING WARNING WARNING>WARNING WARNING WARNING
>>61477089Headline screenshots probably are bots, you're right, but what product is there to gain by getting responses to a headline screenshot thread that doesn't link back to the original article?
>>61477083That retard 40+ year old loser or young person kept arguing with me and saying “if you knew macroeconomics like you say you do, you would know there would be newer and more job opportunities like after the industrial revolution.” Normies are such faggot losers.
>>61477099They gain social media hype, which allows them to keep the grift going. They can scam more money off of investors, and soon they're going to attempt to get a trillion dollar bailout from US taxpayers also. Pic related.
>>61477047Yep, it will be a matter of what happens to us, do we get a UBI and we all get to reap the rewards or do we get killed off, based on the covid vaccine they want to kill us off, might as well let them have hope while they can, tell the kids santa is real so they can have wonder and be children
>>61477047Tomato expert eats a lot of tomatoes
Be very careful hearing takes about AI from so called “AI safety experts”. All they talk about are job losses and Skynet. They’re our generation’s equivalent of climate change doomers. AI is going to take some jobs, period. This includes Uber drivers, cashiers, burger flippers, etc. but people then move onto things that are more productive, but also unfamiliar. Your great-great grandparents would likely be confused at your current job. You stare at a screen and push buttons under artificial lighting. They grew potatoes with a wooden plow. The jobs of the future will exist, but we don’t know what they’ll be.But either way, ignore the weirdo “AI safety” midwits. If their scenario becomes true, we’re all fucked anyway. Who the fuck is going to buy products and services from AI if nobody has money? How do they even obtain the capital to keep the lights on in their data centers? We either have jobs, or things become very weird.
>>61477047not happening (so far)
>>61477133>or things become very depopulatedftfy
>>61477145>hurray, we killed everyone, but we still don’t have the money to keep our giga-AI going
Name a job that can't be done by AI.
>>61477047Doomers are so annoying. Retards have been dooming since the beginning of time.
>>61477154literally anything that requires a body to navigate meatspace
>>61477133> Who the fuck is going to buy products and services from AI if nobody has money? I told him the bottom 70% are not needed. I also mentioned ubi and people will own nothing and be happy.
>>61477102>>61477115>>61477128>>61477133>>61477154Sorry to interrupt your regularly scheduled AI astroturf thread, but job losses are currently happening in blue collar economic sectors that AI isn't capable of automating. AI capabilities aren't causing layoffs, the AI capital money black hole is. People are being laid off to free up money for more AI mania spending.
>>61477167It’s either we still have jobs, or UBI in some capacity. Jobs will probably look more like contracts or tasks for most people, a supplemental way of earning income.
Ah, the "experts", they're never wrong
>>61477170AI isn’t capable of automating it *now*. Robotics are becoming more capable, and they can train them in virtual environments through machine learning. Don’t be surprised in 2040 when Tesla bots are constructing homes and fixing toilets. I don’t think people quite realize that beyond creativity and drawing new insights, there is nothing stopping AI from taking your job.
>>61477214>moving the goalpostsShut the fuck up you retarded jeet. Your shill thread doesn't even make sense.
>>61477170People laid off from white collar will flood into the remaining jobs.
>>61477224That doesn't even make sense you stupid jeet. Your shill thread is a failure.
>>61477233You’re stupid. Leave.
>>61477151anon........
>>61477170you again
>>61477223>didn’t make the thread>thread is about the future>we discuss the future>an illiterate person accuses me of moving the goalposts and irrationally reacts with frustration, probably because his blue collar job isn’t as safe as he realized after bothering to read in the first time in ages after consuming short-form slopHave fun, tradie.
>>61477248Good morning saaar, please do the needful and believe in AI hype, my BASTARD BITCH BENCHOD.
>>61477274Your a jeet using ChatGPT to generate your shill posts for you. Nobody here writes like that.
So many losers seething their job will soon be gone to ai itt T_T
>>61477289You’re*. It’s fine that you don’t have a coherent response, you can refrain from posting. And who am I shilling for, tradie? I’ve expressed skepticism over AI “experts”, but there will certainly be a time when I will be able to get a robot to fix my toilet. This isn’t a sci-fi scenario. Your ass is going to slammed badly if you sleepwalk into the next decade.
Always funny when some idiot tells me ai will create more jobs and that their industry is safe.
>>61477047>just destroy the entire economy because the ruling class wants robot slaves >yet they don't understand that the flow of money will also go away because nobody will have money anymore
>>61477325I told the guy>the rich know the iq of America is dropping because of all the black/brown people and ai is needed to replace them.
>>61477325Also, the bottom 70% contribute very little
>>61477047>Some dude kept arguing with me and he was saying ai will increase productivity and increase the amount of jobsIncreased productivity =/= increased jobs. Imagine you own a factory with 100 employees who can each make 100 widgets a day for a total of 10,000 widgets. Let's say a new machine is created that allows each employee to make 1000 widgets a day instead. Let's say that the maintenance and operation of these machines will require 10 additional employees. The naive would assume that you would hire 10 new employees to handle the machines and make 100,000 widgets a day for a net gain of 10 jobs. But this is only the case if you can actually sell 100,000 widgets. If demand is already saturated and cannot be increased by lowering prices then it makes more sense to simply keep prices high and fire 90 of your employees and hire 10 people to run the machines for a net loss of 80 jobs. You now have 20 employees making the same 10,000 widgets. The idea of technological unemployment ultimately leading to new jobs is a boomer meme from an era when the world was so poor and starved of basic goods that there was essentially unlimited demand as long as you could keep decreasing prices. That era is long over.
>>61477366Normies are so annoying huh. He kept insinuating that I was the ignorant one. I said what you said to him.
>>61477295you're the same schizo always making these kind of threads, it's easy to recognize you what a FREAK you are
>>6147704750 izzat and $0.1 OpenAI credits have been deposited to your account, sar!
>>61477366>If demand is already saturated and cannot be increased by lowering pricesThis is where you are wrong. This would only happen if you are selling indian toilets. Such an increase in productivity would allow you to lower prices by 90% and still get a profit. And if you can't sell what you are making, it means you got a shitty product that no one needs
>>61477047AI is nothing but a glorified search engine and media generator
>>61478572I also think this is the case. The "ai robots will take our jobs" sounds similar to "by the year 2000 we all will have flying cars and floating cities"
>>61477133>They grew potatoes with a wooden plow.God I hate retards like you.
the only thing yud is an expert on is cheetos
