what advice would you give to someone entering a humanities degree?
>>61518609At a good school right? Or if it's not a good school, you have connections in your industry right?
>>61518609major in making money or just drop outyou can study underwater basket weaving on your own time, for free.
having formerly been young, 18-26 is an incredibly important time to be making hay while the sun still shines. anything that isn't setting you up in a career and a family is wasting time. you will regret it if not, i lucked out and they vaccinated 4 billion humans with an israeli bioweapon posing as a medicine, so it didn't matter for me, but it would matter for any other human living at any other time in history
Have at least 2 "protected characteristics" and make your degree 90% political manoeuvring and 10% study.
i wouldnt give them advicr boy
>>61518609I would advise them to suck my cock
>>61518609I wouldn't say a single word to them. I would listen to what they have to say, and that's what no one did.
>>61518609I know someone who successfully persuaded his cousin to not pursue a gender studies degree through tough love. However, I think it only worked because he was very firm about how debt without a useful degree can fuck up your life, and his cousin grew up in unfortunate circumstances and understood just how bad it can get. For most people, I don't think there's any real chance unless they're already having serious doubts. I'd focus on convincing them to stay out of debt as much as possible. Low interest rates, community college, state schools, scholarships, living with parents, part time jobs, etc. Tell them what a worst-case scenario looks like and the actual financial implications of it when you have 80k in debt versus 20k. Even with a shit degree, college is often still worth the opportunity cost if you aren't spending much.
>>61518609The most important piece of advice is to go to community college and transfer to a 4 year university afterwards to save money. Your degree is garbage, and you won’t find a good job. Better to be on the hook for 20k instead of 70k when waging at Walmart.
>>61518609Yeah, don’t
>>61518609Many jobs still require a degree and it can be any degree. If you can write and speak well you can go into management anywhere. No matter what you will always be above an amazon or warehouse wagie if you have a 4 year degree.
>>61518609As long as you get a scholarship so you can get it debt free, sure 100%If you don’t then at least go to the best state college unless you get into an Ivy League. People tend to overdramatise getting a humanities degree, if you are competent and driven you will be fine with a humanities degree, not everyone likes engineering, business or economics
>>61518686Absolutely based!
>>61518609i'm literally picrel and recently started studying psychology just for funi'm already an electrical engineer and semi retired off cryptoi just did it for fun, and there plenty of cute hot girls
>>61518609You're better off gaining knowledge on your own. Universities are for gaining a specific degree for the betterment of your future. For example, I am doing criminal studies in hopes of getting into an inspector position. The only other use for university is to increase your chances of getting together with a girl of dubious morals and/or to willingly allow yourself to be bombarded with feminist propaganda. If you have no clear goal for studying it, it's just an unnecessary obstacle in the path of true wisdom and knowledge.
