Reminder: The January 14th Inflation report will be a Black Swan event leading to a 20% drop in the S&P.
>>
I guess in hindsight it was obvious that metals do well but what signs did people look for here that hopped into it early this year?

Wild to see stuff like pplt up 126% this year and my account was stuck with 19%.

It is the next inflation report we will be getting with all of the missing backdata from during the Government Shutdown. It will basically be three inflation reports in one, two days before options OPEX on a quad witching day.

minimg fags been saying the same shit forever. Keep an eye on inflation (real not fake and gay reported government numbers), fiat currency printing the debt and deficeit and you will see its accelarting and people who pay attention are moving more into precious metals and precious metal accessories.

News.
Not direct news, but: inflation fears, TDS, industrial demand, wars, geopolitics.

If you think things are over valued, or fiat is failing, metals is going to be the answer. What metal? well, that's just a matter of flavor or deep research.

unironically, browse zerohedge.
>>
>>61528512
More than just US are buying metals, thats the main driver. Look at the pplt price action over time and its all after hours. China is buying like mad driving up spot. That seems to be what everyone on /smg/ is missing.

I would say for for pplt for the next month. Silver is being talked about a lot. The news is out and while I would say you should have some. I would take ( and I have taken) a large pplt position because when silver is seen as over valued and the masses sell they will go to pplt seeing the previous sharp gains currently.
Then do the reverse when SLV hits the new floor and ride it back up when people realize its useful and not just a stock ticker.
Its an interesting market with retail getting in, and you need to keep that in mind as well. You dont need to follow the smart money, you just need to be smarter than the dumb money.

I'm convinced driving up the price of silver is the only action China can take against the West. Xi can't risk invading Taiwan.
I predict a huge drop in metals if Russia collapses and China becomes the de facto ruler of Siberia.
The only reason I ever bought silver was because the Ming emperor demanded his citizens pay taxes in silver in the 17th century and the historically low gold/silver ratio
>>
>>61528699
also as an aside, if you're going to buy cufflinks or jewelry in general, platinum is baller silver but shinier and harder(doesnt scratch) and doesnt need to be polished. My everyday cuffs are platinum, gold and silver you need to baby but you can backhand a hoe with platinum

Platinum spot is up $62 (2.78%) since this thread started.
Shits wild right now.

>>61528706
That is a too simple version of events. People are finally finding out that computers take gold and silver, etc and AI is DA FUUUTURE!!! so it needs metric fuck tones of it, aside from it being a hedge against a collapsing Yuan because of china's quiet population collapse and real estate failure, etc.

Basically people know that metal is a currency that isnt fiat based, so IF, big if, something happens ( nothing ever happens (except when it does)) people will need that to pay taxes to the local warlord.
Its getting weird and the normies are finally noticing.
>>

yeah it did. Just read a big book on the opium war and the shut down of silver mines in south america and demand for chinese goods had a silver crisis. The chinese gov was struggling to raise enough silver in just a few years despite having enormous wealth a mere decade earlier. Plus the Brits selling opium could take the chinese silver out and smelt it down overseas and credit their london offices with it so they didnt care where it came from.

The treasury market is what will be the driver of the move to precious metals, as the old 60/40 portfolio gets replaced with a 60/20/20 portfolio. Bonds selling off means money becomes more expensive, which could dry up liquidity and trigger the AI bubble to burst.

Your 4 (maybe low 5) figure port needs some work bro. Like he said, concentrate on a single thesis.

I have a few themes I'm invested in with my 7 figure port: gold, silver, platinum/palladium, uranium and graphene (I'm the HGRAF whale, quietly waiting for EPA approval. GMG just got their EPA so I think it's soon).

Fair enough.
As I said. ive been poor most my life. I want to protect what little I have so im putting my gains in to divs since Im not sure when I will get work again and I figure with what I have done with my initial 3K, if something broke in my port I can at least try again once the divs come in.

Im also buying a lot of single shares because RH gives better data if you own a share than if you look at it in a watchlist. im not expecting to make any gains off of a single share, but its worth it to get the better data for something im interested in and would consider taking an option position in.
Ive only been at this for about 6 months actively so Im up for any advice, but this is stressful enough without also getting belittled here.

>>61529094
Im concentrating on metals, I have a bunch of one shares for the reason above. its good for back testing my reversion thesis but im always open to advice.

I know this is 4chan, and we need to gatekeep, hell ive been here for over 12 years (good god...) but come on man, we are all just trying to make it.

Yeah, naked shorters a bitch, plenty of that in the junior miner space. Was thinking of getting in on an Anduril raise, but feel like I should have at least a few million before I do that. I know know exactly when the market is going to crash. for 5 years i have been sidelined waiting for a crash to enter the market and i've finally caved and realized its been nothing but a total waste of time. That mathematically the optimal play is never try to time the market and enter ASAP, that even waiting for some dip to at least have something to show for 5 years of wasted gains is just sunk cost. I am going to wait until Decembers interest payment on my savings account (i lose my interest if i withdraw before interest day) which is on december 28. That means the market is going to rug the moment i FOMO in, December 28 is when the market comes down.

I could sell some of it to buy myself a new computer as a treat but I'm still getting triple digit framerates on my 4090 build with 64 gigs of RAM. I'd say that I feel bad for newbies, but my first computer I truly had was a second hand AM2+ phenom 2 build I traded an Xbox 360 for. Young kids didn't know what it was like to have to scrap together a build like we had to do back in the old days, they should consider themselves thankful they can relive the good ole days of having to fight for affordable parts again like we had to do in the aughts.

>I guess in hindsight it was obvious that metals do well but what signs did people look for here that hopped into it early this year?
Too much cash in the system due to the liberation day sell off looking for a home to park in. I listen to some boomer ass investing podcasts to try to catch the wind of wealthy 60+ year old retards. A LOT of boomers sold for basically a giant 33% loss and then had a shit ton of cash to buy precious metals hence the run on Costco gold when it was still trading at $3k an oz. Keep in mind, these are boomers that were saying they were basically flush with high 6 figures of cash that liq'd their portfolio due to the initial tariff crash.
The problem is now is that they still have enough cash from that selloff to keep buying and unless a gold enriched asteroid crashes into the planet they'll probably over perform the market for at least 5 years so people are going to keep dumping money into it.
T. Own a couple Oz's of it when I bought around 2k but I know this shit is illiquid as shit but precious metals dealers in my area have been buying/selling at spot and I want to see how far this mania can go

Don't know about that one.
I don't know if everyone here is aware but Tesla and Nintendo are actually bullshit. There are people buying Tesla because they think Elon Musk is the new savior of tech, and Nintendo investor meetings are full of actual fanboys who won't even ask why the company is bleeding money.

How does it even get like that? You could say brand loyalty but Apple isn't like that to my knowledge.

people said this about fuel injection. the efficiency and reliability gains made this arguement look retarded, similar to the arguement against hybrids today. efficiency gains are insane, while sacrificing some simplicity.

i don't know if you've noticed but repairs (and insurance, can't fucking imagine why) for EVERY car has gotten way worse and will continue to so as long as these fucks keep getting bailed out while churning out absolute fucking garbage shit that you're only suppose to take to a dealer.
