Just got a Platinum AMEX yesterday and i wonder what are some cool benefits i stuff could do with it? I know i can enter some nice lounges on airports and stuff. Also we may use this thread on how to take advantage of credit cards in general.
>>61536688Cancel it. The bennies are not worth the price.>t. just cancelled mine
>>61536688Is there any reason to have a "good" credit card? I have my same shitty Discover It mikes rewards one from when I was a broke college kid. Never upgraded. Any reason to or nah?
>>61536701qrd>>61536707I've heard things about lifemiles and how they could save you decent money for long trips, but never got one that has it
>>61536729The benefits you get from a Platinum Amex card all have a dollar value. Add them up (the ones that you actually use, that is), then subtract the $895 annual fee. Chances are very high that the value does not beat a straight cash back card.
>>61536688I have the amex platinum. look up their return protection and purchase protection policies. I got 6 figures of free stuff over a few year
>>61536707It makes loads of sense when you begin to get good at jewish games. Amazon Visa, for example is a fantastic card. Get yourself a card with tons of cash back on travel expenses and you're set. Though, my credit is actually dogshit, mostly because of student loans that I'm never paying.
>>61536701>tfw $0 fees with 2% unlimited cash back and a based heavy metal credit card
>>61536688They tried to upgrade my blue everyday card for this platinum card but I rejected it, almost $900 a year I should pay them just to have that card? Fuck that, the emperor has no clothes.
>>61536688sure anon, why not. I'm about to cancel this jew card because $1000/yr is insane for what used the $399 in 2020. >Change airline credit to United, purchase airline travel bank, can be used to book $200 for a ticket directly vs just misc fees. >TSA/Precheck/Global Entry + APEC card. Can skip Lines and be VIP in ASEAN countries for APEC and skip lines in USA and keep shoes on fun. $100 every 5 years I think. >Same shit for clear. $209/yr. >Resy credit, you can buy gift cards so you can stockpile it, resycredit.com or something. Something like $400/yr?>$200 hotel credit every 6 months, $400/yr, you can scheme it by booking far in advance, cancel and keep the credit with hotel and combine it. What I do like is my chargebacks with amex plat works, not one has failed yet which is nice, so I get the money back/fuck the merchant for being a dick and they pay more processing fees and I make the annual fee back every year. The gold status with hotels and shit is pretty much worthless. Means nothing anymore. The rental car insurance is $25 per rental, and they take care of everything so you can tell the rental counter fuck off. And now that I posted this shit here, it probably won't work anymore the jewing of the jewcard. I'm about to cancel it since cash is better but I do like the chargeback, the travel insurance (they paid out $4500 to me this year), rental car insurance, and the longer warranty and they approve most claims.
>>61536688>Free uber eats cash>Free Uber One>Airport lounges>$600 hotel credits annually>Free YouTube Premium>Free CLEAR plus>Decent points programVery easy to achieve ROI with this card. Plus it feels cool. Another good benefit is favorable exchange rates when traveling abroad. I find it gets nip pussy wet whenever I plunk it down at shops in Japan.
>>61536951My other card for "daily" use is Wells Fargo Active Cash which gets me 2%. I NEVER think about categories.
>>61536744The airport lounge access is worth it.
You only get access to the nigger lounges with this card not the good one.
>>61537507not anymore, I travel weekly if not more, jp sometimes twice a month and I find it is shit. you have to wait 30 mins+ for centurion lounge now and the priority pass are fucking cuckzones that now don't even offer food. within asean/sea its good, except philippines which is absolute shit, but the quality list is getting less and less, the centurion lounge waiting is fucking shit imo. >>61537496As for uber, it sounds good, but you get higher uber fees for using the card because they price you according to what credit card you have - literally the free uber cash isn't enough and the uberone is enough shit plus it doesn't work outside of usa e.g. no jp uber or taiwan uber which is absolute shit but they still cuck you on the fucking exhaborant pricing because you attached an amex plat to uber. noscopejoke bro like frfr you remove the amex plat and like bro the price goes down. points are meh, the 5x points are ok for airlines but the best redemption is gone now, it was fantastic and I transferred over a million Amex points to Hawaiian then transferred to alaska, and I've been getting 25k mileage one way tickets to Korea or jp from anywhere USA via AS>HAnot as great as working for an airline though and non-raving, but meh
>>61536688Just go to the benefits page and enable everything. You have like 4 days to do all the quarterly credits so that was kind of dumb timing on your part.>Saks $50 bonus (idk get some socks)>Uber>Lululemon $75>$200 airline credit, enable United and buy $100 travel credits twice.>Resy (eat at any restaurant listed in Resy, you don't have to book it through Resy)>$30 Uber credit this month>Enable Uber one for free>Signup for Walmart+ for free>Enroll in Clear for free>Sign up for WSJ or YouTube or whatever to max the steaming credit>Link for instant Marriott gold, Hilton gold, whatever Hertz status and the other one>Enroll in priority pass (though it sucks in the US)>Go to delta lounges or centurion loungesThat's most of it>>61536701Year 1 with the signup bonus automatically makes it worth it. Idk what OP got, but 150k, 200k points is pretty common and it's pretty easy to get 1.5 cpp out of each Amex point so the bonus is worth probably $1500 bare minimum more like $3000.Year 2? Depends if you really value Centurion lounge access and the other stuff. I renewed at the cheaper rate but got all the new benefits, plus they gave me 15,000 points after $3k spend not to cancel so I'll keep it until next year.
>>61536951>>615375042% is absolutely pleb tier.I average close to 5%. My lowest is 3.28%.Aven: 6% groceries (mobile wallet)Customized Cash Rewards: 5.25% restaurants (carry)Customized Cash Rewards 2: 5.25% gas (lives in my cars)US Bank Cash+:5% utilities (desk drawer)Amazon Card: 5% Amazon/Whole Foods (desk drawer)Walmart Card: 5% Walmart (desk drawer)BOA pre: 3.28% everything else (carry)Most of these cards are just parked on a website as the default so there's not much to juggle. Just carry two cards with me and that covers everything.
>>61537528Centurion lounge is probably the best in the US
>>61537088>I'm about to cancel this jew card because $1000/yr is insane for what used the $399 in 2020But they added $300 a year in Lululemon credits, $400 a year for eating at restaurants that use Resy booking, $240 a year for streaming services, Walmart+, equinox etc etc that didn't exist in 2020.
>>61537056You shouldn't upgrade unless they give you a juicy bonus.
>>61536688>Also we may use this thread on how to take advantage of credit cards in general.Debt maaxxx:1. Acquire a buttload of cards, 2.strategically pursue credit limit increases, get a credit limit of like $300k or so across your cards. This will take ~3 years.3. Use your cards to buy cash equivalents with minimum transaction fees- eg. Physical gold, Visa Gift cards, Amazon gift cards etc. Use the visa gift cards to buy money orders. Max out your cards.4. Go overseas and live off your gains. default on your cards, what the fuck are they going to do? Yes your American credit score tanks, no one gives a shit in Bali.5. In 7 years all those negative records will be wiped. Return to the US,.rinse and repeat.
>>61538760this, don't be a pussy it works.
>>61538760>get a credit limit of like $300k or so across your cards. This will take ~3 years.
>>61538923Lie about your income. Literally no one checks. I put down $2million and have never been asked for verification of this. Limits are still pretty modest, usually around $30k-$50k a card starting, but easy to work up.
>>61538945so, youre living in Bali, currently?
>>61538760I could literally do this man.... I actually don't live in the US, I opened a US bank account in 2018 with a social I had when I was an international college student and a US address of a family member. For the first 6 years all that account was used for was cashing out crypto. Then in late 2024 Capital One sent an application for a secured credit card, I gave them $1000 and they gave me a starter credit card, after using that for 6 months on small shit like Netflix I had a credit score and they gave me my money back and gave me a real card with a $1000 limit, then everyone started sending me cards. Now I have 6 cards but my total credit is only $25,000 right now, not enough to rug them. I'm just patiently waiting until these idiots give me access to some real money and I will maxx out every card since I don't live in the US anyway. If I have some medical emergency then they will get maxed out sooner. Wish I had a $400k limit and you could buy crypto with them, it would be done already.
>>61538984No I actually had $2million in gains this year because I sold crypto to buy a house.
>>61540216ouchthe taxes must hurt
Been saving them for a vacation later this year. Me and the wife are going to fly and stay at a hotel somewhere on points only hopefully. Anyways I have the gold card. Here’s the perks I have used.Monthly $7 gift card to Dunkin’ donghnuts. I don’t really use it but I stack the gift cards and my wife buys stupid shit.Monthly Uber eats pick up for $10. I rarely use uber and if I remember I tell my wife to go to grab something for herself if she’s at work. I’ll pay $3-7 for her to have some lunch somewhere.Lost or broken items. I forget the timeframe but if you lose or break something you bought within 30? Days of purchase Amex will give you your money back. I did this with Apple headphones that I dropped on a run 3 freaking days after buying them. I had no excuse, I messaged them saying I dropped them and they refunded me the entire amount. Im sure you can’t do it often but they were like $150.Free $10 at Cheesecake Factory and some other goyslop every month. I did this once for shakeshck and paid $9 for my meal getting $10 back. It still wasn’t worth it. Never went back.Amex deals. I have read you can add all of them and more show up. I havnt tried them but I check it bout once every two months and sometimes you will find $10 off amazon or something somewhat useful. Some are like 3% off Nike.com which might as well be useless.Another trick I read is turn off pay as you go, you should never use it anyways of course, and after six months thy send you a 10k free points to sign up for it. Im still waiting.
>>61541176Forgot to add on, thy give you $50 in resy credit every 6 months. First half of the year and second half. I have used this every time taking my family out. You don’t need to actually use resy, the restaurant needs to be on resy for you to get the discount. For me there are a few around so it’s somewhat worth it. It’s usually at higher end places so instead of $150 for 2 it’s $100.
>>61538923amex plat is a charge card. there is no limit.
>>61540596Yeah no one would give me a mortgage so whatever. Well, I'll put my taxes on my 3.28% cc and get some flight money:-)
>>61541233There are limits to Amex plat's purchasing power even if there's not a stated credit limit. Amex has a tool when you login where you can check what your card is good for. Mine will do $100k.Anyways all of this is tangential to the debtmaxxing point of "getting lots of credit cards you can make big purchases on, buying cash equivalents and fleeing the country"
>>61538644This. The BofA cards are fantastic for cashback if you're not an utter poorfag (you do have >100k in liquid assets, right anon?). I use mine for everything but travel right now
unironically, r/churningThey have this shit boiled down to a science, I recently went to see Radiohead in Denmark (from US west coast). I had $1000 in free flights, and 3 nights free hotels. At actually nice places, one night at a VERY nice place. Cost me $400 out of pocket for a trip there, and hotels for 4 nights. Plus the $330 for the Radiohead tickets + obviously food, entertainment, drinks, etc. It was epic.
>>61536688its shit, everyone has one and the lounges are fucking PACKED because they let not only Amex Plat/Centurion but also the shitty Delta SkyMiles poorfag cards in and literally everyone can get that.>t. went to Centurion in Hartsfield Jackson, ATL, was fucking packedim going to cancel mine soon although the first year is worth it but after that its literally waste of money
>>61543273BoFA deez nuts.
>>61543525It's actually insane that the jews haven't shut down churning yet. I've made over ten thousand dollars churning checking accounts this year. This can't possibly be profitable for the banks.
>>61537496imagine thinking people care about a platinum card in 2025. 20 year old military goons get this card
>>61543618holy fuck its 2026 not 2025. wow i am out of it.
>>61543612For every 1 churner, there's 1,000 muhfuckas worrying about getting that sweet 2% cashback rate.
>>61543718Maybe. But it should be extremely easy to identify the churners and deny them new credit cards and bank accounts, or at least slow them down considerably. This is not being done yet, as far as I can tell.
>>61536688These kind of suck because you have to literally build your life around them for it to be worth the annual fee. >Be sure to use $15 per month on Uber>Be sure to use $25 per month on this specific streaming service slop>Be sure to spend at least $100 on Resy every quarter>Be sure to spend at least $75 at Lululemon every quarter>Be sure to spend at least $50 at Saks every 6 months (everything there costs much more)>Be sure to use our overpriced hotel portal and spend at least $300 every 6 months>Be sure to use the CLEAR face scanning at the airport so you can save $200 per yearAt some point it goes from "I'm extracting so much value" to "this fucking card is controlling my life" If you're a rich traveler maybe it's worth it, but every normal individual would get more value from the Blue Cash Preferred or Everyday.
I got rejected from my black credit card application..
>>61544026you dont apply for centurion
>>61543583it really depends on the airport. Houston has nice private lounges, shitholes like fucking Toronto are just garbage. alot of european and arab countries have nice lounges
>>61543992>use Uber once a month>subscribe to a streaming service>eat out at a nice restaurant four times a year>buy four things from lululemon a year>buy something from Saks twice a year>stay at two hotels for longer than two days each using the portal (which you'll be using anyways for points n shiet)>Clear is something you use anywaysSaks and lululemon are probably the most inconvenient, but otherwise it's a comically easy list to check off if you're actually in the target demographic for that card. And it's the points and lounge access that are the main value points for the card anyways; all this retardation with credits is to try and keep the plebs out
>>61543815There's some stops in place but nothing major. Chase's 5/24 rule, Bank of America's 2/3/4, whatever Citi has. Some Elan checks freak out if you have more than 1 inquiry in the last 12 months.
>>61543273Those fuckers are steadfast on the 2/3/4 rule though. Tried to get a CCR after 3 others in the last 6 months and they denied me we a 800 credit score and $500k in assets with Merrill. I'll get my wife to apply for another one.
>>61543992If you DON'T use this shit organically enough that looking at the benefits at the end of a quarter is enough to refresh your memory then this isn't the card for you."Noooo I never use Uber or get on a plane or go to hotels or eat at nice places and never use any streaming services" yeah totally gotcha, don't get it.
>>61543525I was on /r/creditcards and I got banned because I mentioned brainrotted zoomers. Then I tried another account and got shutdown for ban evasion, can't even use reddit anymore.
Over priced coupon book these days. Do you really want like $100 of Nordstrom that's like distributed twice a year forcing you to shop with brokie balenciaga niggers or over priced Uber eats. Save your money. Flight miles take you no where these days. Just buy a lounge pass when you fly
> sapphire reserve is going to cost the same as amex platinumdropped
>>61546661Look if you're actually coughing up the full priced annual fee then probably yeah.If you're a chad with $10M in Charles Schwab they comp the plat card for you
>>61536688I travel enough that up until a few years ago the Centurion Lounges alone were worth the fee, used to be easy to get a seat at most intl airports, decent food and bar. They've lowered the fucking bar so much to get platinum that the lounges are packed and I've been fucked by wait times longer than my layover on multiple occasions. Getting better recently now that they've stopped letting parents bring their fuck trophies in for free, still at capacity most of the time. The included Priority Pass membership got thoroughly gimped last year too.Other than that, I better than break even between the cash back, airline credits, and uber credit. Hotel credit can be useful but it's only applied to hotels that are already overpriced, so usually not. The included hotel and rental status upgrades are pointless in currentyear.
I recommend:AMEX gold for grocieries. Spend the points on amazon. They add up. Coinbase AMEX is good for the coming bear years. 4% back in btc as long as you have 200k on USDC on there. The airport lounge meme is over. They are all full of niggers now. Just show up on time.
>>61536688IMO the only cards that's worth it is a citi custom cash for dining at 5%, an amazon store card for amazon purchases at 5%, and a robinhood gold card linked with biltrewards for 3% general purchase and .5% on rent payments
>>61549094>The airport lounge meme is over. They are all full of niggers now. Just show up on time.This.
>>61549855>>61549094>The airport lounge meme is overIt is becoming more true. Your typical lounge goer is better than average terminal trash but only marginally. You've got loads of anxious people "showing up" nervously in gucci gang shit like it's super special that they get to be in a centurion lounge. There is a Centurion card only portion of the lounges so you don't have to be too close to the average poor, but still.>Just show up on time.I fly twice a week and feel more and more like this. Capital One Landing is nice for dinner but yeah otherwise go to the gate.Really it's all the more reason to fly private and just have the plane wait for you.
>>61549094>4% rewards tiers are capped at a combined $10,000 in Eligible Purchases per calendar month (then 2% thereafter for such calendar month). That's such a babby cap
>>61550211True. only good if you dont spend more than 10k/month. Also coinbase has been gradually reducing yield on USDC. Im now on 3.5%Whats a better cashback/crypto back card?
>>61536688ITT: people bragging about paying high fees to be slaves to their credit cards for good got points and "rewards"
>>61550317Have you not read the thread? The general consensus has been that it's not really worth it.
>>61550407Some are very profitable. There's been subtle crumbs in this thread. No wonder goybrains keep losing.
>>61550241BOA PREMoney is fungible so it doesn't matter if it's back in USD or BTC.3.28% on everything uncapped, when redeemed for flights. 4.375% on dining and travel. Basically a $100 net fee after the cash back credits that gets you 4 unlimited priority pass memberships. Yes you need $100k at Merrill but that's easy. Also if you don't like the annual fee whatever, year one will give you a $900 signup bonus anyways.
>>61549094>Spend the points on amazon. They add up.That's a turbo shitty way of redeeming Amex points. Jetblue/British Airways/Qatar/Virgin are generally going to give much better value. If you can't redeem at well over 1cpp there are better choices.
>>61550317thanks for the bump nigger, now go shit up the other 40 bait threads
>>61550317>>61550407>>61536688As a professional alcoholic I can tell you it's dead simple to make money with a platinum card. It's 900 bucks a month. You get 15 dollars a month for Uber each month there and you get to take off 100 bucks at a fancy restaurant per quarter with the Resy offer. That's already 600 bucks you made back. Now here comes the real hack. You get a 200 dollar credit for a flight. You fly to a delta+ lounge airport and then you go to town. You can easily drink $500+ worth of free booze if you just have 15 to 20 beers a few times per year at one of their lounges. You're practically making money if you've ever seen how much a beer at a non-lounge costs at the airport (they're getting up to 15 dollars without a tip). You don't even have to touch the points to get your money's worth if you need a little liquid courage when you're traveling.
>>61550474Thanks havent heard of this. I hate BOA but good to know. >>61550483Thanks, had no idea...gonna do this from now on.
>>61550495Protip- use your points to book a refundable flight. Go to the airport, use the boarding pass to get through security and into the lounge.Drink your ass off. Cancel the flight 15 minutes before it leaves, get all your points and fee back. Rinse and repeat. Alaska even lets me cancel flights via text, so I just copy and paste the previous chat to cancel American Airlines flights.
>>615505095-10 cents involves crazy math, like pretending you were going to buy a first class international flight a peak prices and all the spirits aligning. 1.3-1.8 cents is more reasonable for normal flights you'd have taken anyways. But anyways all dramatically better than Amazon.
>>61550515I would literally never spend my time in an airport unnecessarily. That sounds like torture. I would distill my own moonshine at home to save money before I went to the trouble of booking a flight and going through security. That's psychotic.
>>61550524Yes. You just saved me thousands anon.
>>61550611Congratulations you just tickled my card autism
>>61547025> let me fractionally reserve your 8 figures goy> it will save you 1k a year!
>>61550658You can park it in index funds.
>>61536688Anyways to summarize:>First year signup bonuses make lots of cards yummy.>Downgrade or cancel lots of them after the first year unless it's really really good.>Mainstream credit card shills that have a bunch of signup links from major banks are usually mediocre sources of information>Lots of expensive credit cards try to shill you on them being somehow gateways to aspirational lifestyles but really they're kinda mid unless you feel like milking them (or it's year 1 with the bonus)>If you're not getting 2% minimum on EVERYTHING you absolutely should up your game.>If you want to you can get well above 3% and close to 5% on everything depending on your setup but maybe you don't care.
>>61536688Redpill me on AMEX Blue
>>61551363i think its goated if your buying groceries and gas for a family. no way a single guy or a couple is going to max out the cash back
>>61551363Blue Cash Preferred or Everyday? Both are pretty mid
