I don't think there's anything wrong with people studying philosophy and if anything you're going to inflict a lot of pain on the workforce by trying to railroad kids from an early age. I'd go as far as to say that Sweden has the right idea where kids are expected to take a couple of years out before committing to a serious career or degree.

>muh blue collar job

Yeah, and suddenly there are no conservatives in the institutions. I took a law degree and ended up working in the government because the work/life balance let me cook in the evening and see my wife, if I'd gone the electrician route I'd be terrible at it and probably get fired.

Where does this inferiority complex against liberal arts grads comes from? I'm not in liberal arts but I sometimes meet people studying philosophy, politics, etc. and they're all humble people who are often friends with tradies.

From no where to nowhere. It is completely inorganic, as is this weird belief that all 4 year degrees lead to office jobs. I have a STEM PhD, and a job related to my degrees, and the sweat stains on my labcoat make the collar yellow. If you doing a job that makes real things that people really want to have, then you will probably need to be pretty hands on, unless you're job is solely to write ad-copy. And even that will be made better by actually having seen what it is you're selling up close.

Go to a small-mid sized company's website. A start up with 20-40 employees will do nicely. Start reading every single fucking page of that thing, from AI generated blog spam, to the carefully crafted landing pages. Make a list for each page that tracks every single spelling and grammar error, every double space, every formatting flub, every bad word choice or bad phrasing.

Contact whoever there has the most 'forward facing' profile and send them a few of the worst pages free of charge, and offer your services as either a marketing writer or freelance-editor. If this sounds unrealistic in the age of spellcheck and grammarly, I would point out that those have both made the problem worse by atrophying writing knowledge, and that now MS products are training their grammar and spelling checkers not on style manuals and dictionaries, but on AI scraped averages of millions of user documents.

If you can write well, you are now rare. The tools are getting dumber and will make your writing worse if used.

welders and painters? breathe toxic gasses all day
driving jobs? just look at them and tell me they are healthy.

basically, that is why they are paid more from the get go but as time goes on, adam's pay catches up and surpasses that of chris.

not the same things and the things that can happen to adam can also happen to chris. but not the other way around.

I work in construction, I've never met a tradesman who wasn't a total wreck. HVAC, sparky, plumber, framer, etc they all smoke, chew, drink, eat 2 meals a day that are fast food, drink 7 large coffees, snack on junkfood. It's not anecdotal either, its a fact across the industry.
>>
>>61561885
my neighbor works in construction since like 25 years or something. his joints are so fucked up that he can put both his palms flat on the ground standing up without bending his knees.
i've never seen anyone do this.

and he does all of which you mention.
>>
>>61561885
The company owners and foremen are usually more put together, but yeah. Usually they have decent backing from their parents or literally inherited the business too, so it's not really fair in that way either. Best chance you have as a tradesman is keeping yourself straight with the aim to go out on your own ASAP. Ideally before you hit 30. That gives you 10 to 15 more years of working at the coalface with the aim of training up your teams first hand before moving to a customer relations/quality assurance/costing role before your body is completely destroyed. Still a lot of stress and juggling home life and work can be virtually impossible in that period.
>>
>>61561995
One of the electrical companies actually instituted mandatory stretching as part of its safety policy because workers were always complaining about sore bodies, then the workers bitched to IBEW and it was rescinded. People in construction are feral animals.

This corrupt system forces debt in students to get "ahead" in life while fucking the health of blue collars while making fun of them and somehow these classes fight among each other instead of burning everything to the ground. Meanwhile the jew laughs and roams the sewers ready to kidnap both adam and Chris's children to rape them, drink their blood and sacrificing them in some obscure pagan ritual.
>>
>>61562171
no one is really fighting though. only retarded blue/white collars fight each other. i'd say thats a minority.

>If you can write well, you are now rare. The tools are getting dumber and will make your writing worse if used.

You're fucking innumerate. Everyone has access to a graduate level technical writer for free now. Supply is infinite, demand is not. LLMs were the nail in the coffin for humanities majors.

I don't know if you've read any recent graduate level writing, but it sucks. LLMs are NOT solving that problem they are, as the post you were replying to stated, making it worse.

Go back and reread what I wrote. The tools are not producing exceptional writing because they are not being trained on it. I recently typed out a letter I was going to mail, and had the whole page lit up by Word trying to 'correct' me with wrong word usages and shitty-sounding English. If you default to assuming the tool is correct, your writing will converge on a version of English that is bad at conveying meaning. Everyone does not have access to a graduate level tech writer, even if they are paying out the nose for an AI service that claims to give them one. AI writes like a college freshman trying to write an in-class essay about a book he didn't read. It is painfully circular, and simply won't admit that doesn't know enough to generate a good answer. Additionally, probabilistic tools cannot write manuals, service handbooks, or any other document where money depends on it being correct.

LLMs aren't even good at doing the actually cool machine learning tasks (drug development, materials research). Which is something the Tech Bros both know and consistently lie about, hoping that idiots will believe them when they say that the 6 gorillion data centers will be good at doing anything but making slop. They won't be, by the way. Those Blackwell GPUs are optimized for LLM use only.

I'm not trying to sound overly condescending here, but you truly do not know what you are talking about, and you should probably stop showing your ass in this manner.

chris spends all his money on beer to forget his miserable job and rapidly fattening wife he knocked up at 22 but now by age 31 he isn't even attracted to her anymore and his kid is struggling in middle school math and asks daddy for help but he doesn't remember how algebra. Really works math was never his best skill so he assures his little buddy
>hey when you grow up you don't need math just be an electrician like me
but secretly chris knows he hasn't started saving anything for the kid's college fund and is deathly scared about his retirement savings after his old man had to get a part time job at Home Depot in his 70s. Chris really doesn't understand what a 401k is and puts everything into his high yield savings account his coworker told him about which he unknowingly will lose in the divorce in a few years

There's a huge flaw in your logic. A company using AI to do their writing already doesn't give a shit about writing. They won't be thankful and hire you, they just won't even respond. This isn't 1950, companies are fine with midwit tier work.

people like to complain so they make up problems. in first world countries even the "manual labor" barely involves manual labor.
>>
>>61563114
While it's true that AI does not produce good writing and while it's also true that new grad students either have forgotten how to read or never have learnt it properly it is still the case that both don't matter. Most people can't even comprehend a one-liner if their life depends on it. So perfect writing would only address a niche audience which financially probably does not even matter for your business.

I'll let you in on something. Most companies "using AI" for writing, aren't actually aware of it. It is almost always some marketing guy being too lazy to write content himself, or farming it out to someone on Fiver who turns around and hands him AI slop.

The upper management usually isn't reading their customer-facing website, they only hear about from the guys that made it, and assume it's all okay. And generally speaking, the smaller the firm, the less okay they are that their website is trash. You think ThermoFisher cares that their 'about our environmental' commit page is slop? Of course not. But you better believe that some little company in Texas that sells welding robots for fabricating refinery vessels will flip their shit about the "[our company]'s advantage" page saying absolutely nothing about their product.

Thats just a downgrade in every way.
Why are you neet retards too ashamed to make money? Why would making money be a bad thing? Do you not understand that there is no such thing as a free living? If you dont want to work, dont work but dont expect a living, let alone luxury. lmao.
