>Lexus and Toyota – over 100,000 cars recalled for engine failure

>Toyota is facing one of its most expensive and complex recalls after discovering a defect in the V-6 twin-turbocharged engines powering both the Tundra pickup trucks and the luxury Lexus LX SUVs. This issue affects vehicles from the 2022 and 2023 model years, specifically those produced between November 2021 and February 2023, and for the Lexus LX, from July 2021 to November 2022.

>What’s wrong with these engines?

>The defect that triggered this large-scale recall can cause the engine to stall suddenly while driving, significantly increasing the risk of a crash. The root of the problem stems from machining debris left inside the engine during production, which can lead to engine knocking, rough operation, difficulty starting, and, in the worst cases, total loss of power.

>In May 2024, Toyota notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of this issue. At the time, the company estimated that only 1% of the 102,092 potentially affected vehicles might exhibit the defect. However, this figure was largely due to limitations in NHTSA’s reporting system, where Toyota explained that it was unable to provide an accurate estimate of the number of vehicles affected.

>Drastic solution: complete engine replacement

>Two months after the initial filing, Toyota still had not determined exactly how many vehicles were affected, leading to a radical decision: replace the engines in every potentially impacted vehicle. This means swapping out the engines in over 100,000 vehicles, including approximately 98,600 Tundras and 3,500 Lexus LX SUVs.

>So far, this solution only applies to non-hybrid versions of the 3.4-liter V-6 twin-turbocharged engines (designated V35A). The hybrid Tundra models are not included in this recall because, in the event of an engine failure, their electric motors can still provide power to the vehicle.

I heard about that recall on the tundra, the camry doesnt have that engine.

seriously though, Audi is fucking expensive to fix and it being diesel it will SLUDGE up
>>
>>61559121
That's only on the new tuyota's. The old ones are bullet proof
>>
>>61558923
Why waste so much money on a car?
Get yourself a used Toyota Corolla from maybe 2010 or so, drive it until the wheels fall off and then get another used Toyota Corolla, one that's at least 15 years old.

jap shills
>>
>>61559449
All you did in this thread was berate those who are actually answering OP's question - "Is this normal?".
Do you have anything to offer at all?
I wrote about a used Toyota because that's my personal experience. I've been driving since 2011. My first car was a BMW and over the course of 6 years I spent more on various repairs than the initial price of the car. My second car was a Toyota Corolla and in 5 years that I had it I spent zero on repairs, all I needed to do was regular maintenance - engine oil, filters, brakes. I gave that car to my sister and bought myself another Toyota Corolla and it's been going great so far too.
>>
>>61559489
yeah, right
you lying jap shill
>>
>>61559510
Notice how you still haven't offered anything
>>
>>61559537
offer what?
youre a lying jap shill
do you think noone else has ever had a BMW, or what
you fucking monkey
>>
>>61559542
cars are depreciating assets. Unless its a Nissan GTR or Ford GT it's going DOWN.

do not waste your money!
>>
>>61559449
my Toyota Hiace MOGS your piece of crap car
>>
>>61558923
is $40k a lot of money to you?
if so then that's normal

I'd guess most people buying $40k vehicles don't see it as a lot of money. Perhaps you should buy a cheaper vehicle so you don't stress out about it?
>>
>>61559064
>t. retard that doesn't know anything about cars
>>
>>61559435
Not buying your bags
>>
>>61559027
>2012
>150k miles
>10k
I just bought a 2018 Audi with 30k miles for 25k. 10k for a clapped camry is anal rape
>>
>>61560642
True, that Camry is probably 5k on marketplace. Another reason to not buy from dealers
>>
>>61558923
Why $40k? Do you need a truck or something?
>>
>>61558923
I paid $36,000 for a truck in 2009, I still have it.

Have you tried to analyze what is going on inside you?
You should feel happy about it. I bought an ev about two years ago and i felt quite happy.

>>
>>61559027
in georgia lol probably like 2 wrecks and previous owner didn't change the oil for 40k miles
>>
>>61559053
>>61559042
>>61559027
Also that's for sale by a dealer, you could probably pick that up for $6k from a private seller. This kind of price range is gravy for private sales because a dealer kind of needs to add on at least $3k bare minimum just to make it worth his time and otherwise the private party just wants more than the trade in price quickly.

Anyways 2012 Camry is pretty bulletproof with regular maintenance, 250k miles before any engine work is needed is pretty standard.

If you buy that you'll put in like $500-$2k a year average on preventative maintenance going to a third party mechanic. Pretty solid deal.
>>
>>61559098
>V-6 twin-turbocharged engines

Lmao a Camry doesn't have that shit
>>
>>61558923
I mean are you rich?

Because unless you are actually well off you really shouldn't spend $40k on a car. Like it's a pretty standard formula for a poorfag to stay poor by spending $40k on a car every 2-5 years and then buying a new one as soon as the old one is paid off.

The reasons to spend $40k on a car are "I like it and I am very well off that I want to enjoy my money this way and it doesn't change my financial trajectory"

Does this mean most people buying new cars are retarded? Yes..same reason why most people are fat and retarded

>>61558923
My dad bought a porsche convertible back when he was in his late 40s. He went to the mall and parked way in the back. Big momma nigger parked next to him. Three little dindu monkeys were climbing all over his car. Jumping on the windshield, jumping on the soft convertible top. He comes out of the mall to see these animals standing on and jumping on his car. He had to ask the lady to tell her kids to get off his car. He should have been carrying. You cannot have nice things in America. He had to replace the back glass, windshield and the hood. They never could color match the hood properly and he spent like $30k trying to fix the car. The lady with turdskin children cost him $30k and she didn't even go in the store she was parked outside of. She just saw a nice car and deployed her nigger magic to entertain some bastards for a few minutes.
>>
Dude, find something less than $10k and cancel your $40k car transaction RIGHT NOW.
>>
>97 tercel toyota
>engines in repair which you have to finish and it's missing a door
>7 grand
LMAO
Kill all these fuckers selling their garbage this high to make profit.
>>
Update I bought a used toyota tacoma truck for 28K instead, feel a bit better but fucking hell it's not fun spending this much money in one go
>>
>>61564053
You did what you needed to do OP.
>>
>>61564053
At least you’re not financing
>>
>>61564058
you think I did alright?
>60K miles
>2017
>>61564061
I hate financing, it's horrible having debt hanging over your head like that
>>
>>61564053
Son I am disappoint. Well at least he paid cash and didn't finance it
>>
>>61564066
It depends on the trim, but it's in the ballpark. A 2017 Toyota Tacoma with 50k miles is $24k near me, according to Carvana.
>>
>>61564066
>>61564089
That's before shipping, tax, title and registration, which would bring it to $28k. So yes, you paid the same I would have to pay.
>>
I just spent 4% of my net worth on a car and I feel like it was a big splurge, I am afraid I will crash it now. So no OP I think it is normal for neurotic retards.
>>
>>61564087
He paid the right price see this >>61564089
