The spiritual ugliness of PM freaks is on full display right now. They bought their shiny rocks and underperformed every other asset for decades. Now that they're finally getting an itty bitty pity pump, look how their behavior changes. They should be happy and celebrating in /pmg/. Instead they are lashing out at the rest of the board, spamming, flooding, raiding, sliding, trying to auschwitz everyone else into their own little internment camp of a ponzi scheme. And that's them being HAPPY. That's them on a good day. That's how ugly they are on the inside. Imagine how mean they'll get when metals eventually meaningfully retrace. It honestly might make sense to ban discussion of PMs from /biz/, not because they aren't business and finance related but because the financial incels have clearly shown that they have no desire to live harmoniously with the rest of us or even make a profit. They can go make a general on /bant/ to shill their joke of an investment and live there alongside the furry ai and futa threads.

what happens if COMEX runs out of physical silver?
>>61560145In the 80’s COMEX just kept hiking rates until the hunt brothers went bankrupt

>>61560313Then they fail to deliver, and people move to another market.
>>61560326what would that mean? Like can the shorts just play this game to the end and then say: "we don't have the silver lol"
>>61560289>You aren't becoming rich, you just save your money.true to a sense. I am becoming comparatively rich because so few people are stacking. They stand to loose everything. Their (((investments))), their homes, their lives if things get bad enough. I see the true wealth being made by those who have not only stacked, but have or are preparing to live incredibly lean. Self sufficient on water and food, own at least a couple acres far from major population centers, armed and able to defend themselves. People so prepared can weather the collapse of fiat without having to dip too far into their stack to survive, if they have to sell at all. Instead they can use their stack to acquire tangible assets that will nearly guarantee generational wealth. Mostly being land. This is how I see it anyway, and I'm preparing accordingly.
I don’t see why anyone would want to keep money on COMEX after they run out so I imagine the price would tank since technically nothing is actually being sold anymore.
Just a question, how recyclable is silver?
>>61560333I think there are stipulations in the terms and conditions that allow for longs to be cash settled out but idk how that actually works in practice, if I can find the documentation on it I’ll post it one of these threads.
>>61560154when the comex cuts off the shipments of cheap silver, that's the signal to move on taiwan and from belarus.remember wars start when world economics no longer reflect reality. Too many debts, not enough real assets. There is only one way to figure out who owns what.

>>615603491:1 GSR inevitable
>>61560333>Like can the shorts just play this game to the end and then say: "we don't have the silver lol"They could, but the blow back from so blatantly and obviously jewing the system has the potential to be.....kinetic. Thats why they have been pulling out all the stops to keep the open secret regarding COMEX reserves from being completely exposed.>>61560345in the vast majority of uses? Its not.>>61560338The opposite would happen. COMEX isnt just a warehouse for retailers, its supposedly a supply hub for industrial demand. So if the COMEX empties and industrial demand for silver is still there, which it 100% will be, then the price skyrockets. Manufacturers will pay obscene prices for physical because the overall input cost for electronics and the like is so low to the overall input cost it is way cheaper for them to fork up the massive silver cost rather than shutting down their production lines. In the long run this cant continue since there is only so much silver above ground. If industrial demand collapses, then modern civilization is not too far behind.
>>61560345Idk on a gradient of recyclability but I know that there are silver recycling operations from high grade scrap: (jewelry, and leftover material from machined partsIndustrial scrap: from recycled electronicsPhotographic waste: from camera and x ray filmIndustrial scrap makes up the largest share of recycled material and they produce about 150~190 million ounces a year from this. Recycling has increased in recent times due to higher silver price, previously it wasn’t as profitable to do this and recycling offsets the global deficit a bit but it’s only really a bandaid. I imagine it will increase as prices rise.

But in Shanghai it’s soaring. And if you actually try to source it. NOBODY is selling at the CME price. It’s at the Shanghai spot. Where the real demand and price discovery is happening. You’d have to be some fucking idiot to sell your silver because someone says I have a piece of paper I’m selling for nothing. >>61560565>No you won’t see arbitrage anymore. If they send their metal to China. They do t have export licenses. And their capital as Yuan will be stuck in China due to capital controls.90~95% of the metal going to china is immediately getting melted down to go into industrial manufacturing. Investment only makes up about 5~8% of the silver market there. It's not really seen as a speculative asset there.Industrial manufacturers are buying silver from the West and flying it east because lead times for supply are lengthy, and this is reflected by the backwardation in the Shanghai silver futures. people are willing to pay more money upfront now because otherwise their businesses can't build anything until more domestic supply becomes available.China's strategic reserves of silver are also at historic lows, I think they're estimated to run out by march/April, so they're going to have to import silver whether they want to or not. because the alternative basically just means shutting down assembly lines for months. So when silver gets sent to china it's probably never coming back out, at least not as an investment grade vehicle. The export bans are essentially China trying to starve non-chinese solar panel/EV/electronics manufacturers of material.
I wonder how many people got financially raped over the weekend paying APMEX's $82 spot price.
>>61560387You know how you get sleepy? The bankers get sleepy too, and that closes the markets and freezes the ratios. They need their sleep anon, just like you if you want to grow up big and strong.

>>61560661yeah idk why people are freaking out we literally went straight up for 2 weeks and the only reason it wasn't longer was because CME hiked margin requirements two weeks ago. They'll probably do it several more times over the next few months as inventory gets depleted. They're trying to buy more time, which sucks if you look at the charts, but makes sense if you understand why they're afraid of running out.
>>61560693>If we get down to 40 I'm robbing liquor stores and 7/11sLmao
Today is unBEARable.

>>61560365Gold and silver circulate as money very nicely together and have for most of the world for most of history. Problems only arise when government tries to tie them together by force, usually in the form of a named currency with dual evaluations. As long as they float freely, all is well.
>>61560755>this drop is permanent
on one hand Im so glad silver dropped because I really needed to buy just 15 more oz to hit 400, but on the other hand, WTF happedned to make silver drop 10 whole dollars in a day?
Since the drop seems to be specific to the comex policies, and there's a giant spread with Shanghai, am I retarded to think this is actually bullish for silver?

Is this a fully artificial tamp or will we have another october situation where it takes a week for the dump to finally end?
>it's still going down
They knew what they were doing too. They literally waited until the markets were closed to hike margin requirements so no one could do anything about it, and then when the market opened they automagically got margin called.
>>61560778They can shut down the exchange. Unwind whole trades if they go bad for their members. It’s rigged as fuck.

Thanks Jews, cool dip, very nice, everything is sold out everywhere lmaoThis shit is going to triple digits
I'm gonna design a safe MADE from silver. Then I'll paint it black like in OP's pic and you can use it for storing your anime porn and holo figurines. Totally secure silver storage, no one will be the wiser. >it'll be sold in parts, so you can assemble it a few kilos at a time
Have we gotten any new leads on this supposed weekend bank failure? I hear UBS one second and JP Morgan the next but it mostly seems to be vague rumors. Where's the trace evidence?
>>61560815Man. I wouldn’t touch options with a barge pole in this. I’m holding metal and just watching now.
>>61560799Fully artificial. They essentially just took the bottom 13% of leveraged traders and pulled the plug on their long positions over Christmas weekend for the sake of “market stability”. Look at the chart on December 12th, they did the same exact thing and then 2 days later new ATH

>>61560559My guess is that the Shanghai price is what a seller gets through the exchange. The buyer pays that amount into the exchange plus the vat which goes to the government. But that is just a guess. People with vat experience might have a better idea.
>>61560780>>61560855it's kind of hilarious when you think about it. This whole thing is like gamestop all over again, except they can't just shut off the buy button or steal your stocks (well they can try, but then guns get involved)
Looks like quite the silver bloodbath this morning.I guess cheapies are back on the menu boy!.
>>61560880apparently prices quoted do NOT include VAT, and VAT only applies if you take physical delivery of a purchase from the exchange.
Now an 11 dollar difference between Shanghai and COMEX spread. Incredible.

>>61560536>in Shanghai it’s soaring. And if you actually try to source it. NOBODY is selling at the CME price. It’s at the Shanghai spot. Where the real demand and price discovery is happening. This is the beginning of the end for COMEX. If industrial buyers cannot get silver in the amounts needed from the CME at the COMEX spot price, then what exactly the fuck is the use of the COMEX?

>>61560918>That’s not how it works. Unless they want to lose it all flowing east.Looksl like they're destroying their paper speculators, at the price of losing all their remaining physical. A truly pyrrhic victory. They lower the price and lose control of the physical price discovery.
I don't mind 4k/60 g/s again. I actually need it. I didn't bought enough. This is a finish scenario for usd anyway, they shouldn't have cut interest rates and let trump back to office.

>>61561035from quick googling this morning, yes a third party holds it. So there is definitely risk. It would hurt like a mother fucker to loose my big boy bar due to (((trickery))), but it wouldnt ruin me either. I could easily use it to slurp another 50 oz I otherwise wouldnt be able to afford.
