Bear market for the time being. The entire market is pressing up against the same upper end that it's been touching for the past few months. Looks to me like the market doesn't have a reason to go any higher than that. No new developments, no breakthroughs, no big new product reveals.
Until then, I suspect we'll crab around this zone or just dump. Better to be bearish around the top for the time being.

You guys want a nice bottom on something check into PTN. Stock reported earnings of 8 million last quarter November. Lots of interesting obesity and vision drugs in the pipeline with promising potential to work out. Shot up from 6 to 27 then it went down to 16 and appears to be bouncing off a double bottom here but could be wrong. Might be worth a shot. Very low float 1.29 million.

Long dated PM calls, so maybe not that guy, but I expected this kind of thing would happen. Its why I hedge using more time in the calls than I would ever hold the position as opposed to buying puts to try to hedge, because with the price action I would have sold those at a loss last week since they would be down 90% vs my calls that are still over +150% for my two larger positions.
I still have plenty of time for the price action to normalize and the extra IV will help at the end of the day.

Also just did a great SeaLion in 1939 in HOI4 so I got that going for me.

I looked at options chain for these and for current price strike ($120) I break even at expiry when it trades at $129. It has 100% profit when at $138 per share (which is +14% from current price). I guess this is the way to go? Any other way to go about it? As someone completely new to options, is this good risk/reward structure?

that depends entirely and utterly on how confident you are that XOM will go up that much by that point in time.

All of my portfolio has been in a global index fund for years, but in the new year I want to allocate 10% to Alphabet. Gemini is impressive, they have rival inference chips to Nvidia, and they own SpaceX/Anthropic indirectly. Dumb move or not? Already rallied a lot in the the last year so I’ve probably missed the boat. Any time I pick stocks it goes horribly wrong.
>>
>>61563891

Smart. I just bought more alphabet. Pe is only 30 so its fine. Googl has been beaten and neglected but has a ton of future once people realize they have ai capabilities plus billions of ad revenue unlike openai.

>>
>>61563789
This is false. Something definetly can shoot up 20% over a couple of days and not correct soon thereafter. It is most likely to correct than if it didn't but that's a result of the increased volatility, which can go both ways.

>how we actually feeling about this?
I'm feeling good. The poo launch succeeded, was symbolic (only 1 sat) and ASTS wants business from India so good PR. ASTS expanded production and producing sats faster. The hurdle is getting all the sats into space this year. If I understand correctly ASTS has bought launches on other carriers, possibly including Japan, so if they start shipping the sats for launch that is good, if the launches start going off on schedule and are successful the stock price should be rapidly rising. ASTS needs about 50 sats in orbit (has five or six now) to get consistant service running. Still way ahead of Starlink. Rocket Lab's Neutron rocket is behind and same as Blue Origin, so they need to rely on SpaceX more which costs more because the SpaceX rockets can only launch 3 at a time (Blue Origin like 8 at a time). My average price is about $45/share so I am good. If the price drops hard I am buying.

What is your reasonign XOM will exceed $120 2026 and when?
Investing is buying and holding the stock (you get price appreciation and dividends). Riskier investing is buying OTM options expiring Dec 2026 (no dividends and you need to right on the price and timing, but with the same money you can control more stock so more profit if you are right). Third option is more gambling to buy leaps and sell calls but you should only play with small amount of money (cheap stock) to see how it works. XOM is $120 so 100 shares is obviously $12,000. If upon expiry the price dips just below the strike you lose your money. Go to Yahoo finance and look at the options pricing and think about how many contracts you would buy. A real money makeer was SBSW being shilled at about $3 you could have made bank by now.

No, it was because the banks were using the reverse repo the last few years since it had over 2 trillion in it and that finally got drawn down to 0 a couple months ago. The thing is I bought it specifically because it was in Malaise territory and was planning to buy more. It was entirely coincidental that I realized it was literally the day of earnings that I was buying, and only after I already bought.

To be honest even with its stellar performance I don't understand why it's going up, on low volume, into the new year. Usually with all the technicals that should be bearish. I'm completely empty inside.
Seeing the numbers move is all thats keeping me alive.
This miserable crabbing is killing me. Either go up or go down
Dont worry mr market maker I won't be making any money no matter what I am a stupid baggie
I just want to see the numbers move.

i think investing makes your mental shortcomings obvious by quantifying them, and let's just say im very short.
i give up. im too tired to even feel sad.

I was denied a "quick emergency" treatment for depression today because my blood pressure was too high. Yeah the anxiety of this clown world shoots anyones blood pressure through the roof.
We're all here just caight inbetween with a dollar and a dream.

>It is absurd to run towards death because you are tired of life, when it is your manner of life that has made you run towards death. (Seneca’s Letters – Book I – Letter XII)
Stop what you're doing and change your life completely.

Personally, I'm ditching my normie friends to pass new year alone hiking. Maybe it'll clear my mind.

Wellbutrin does fuck-all. It's one of the options of goypills you get to try as "regular treatment" at the hospital where I live. The two options for "quick treatment" is frying your brain with electricity (electric shocks) and ketamine IV (which I was denied today). I guess it's back to chewing down goypills while waiting to die and hoping for green days on the market.

Wellbutrin is a substituted amphetamine and helps you brute force life. SSRIs are the real goy pills

Like, we go drinking together, go to events etc.
It's not impossible: you aren't the only people with no friends. A lot of people want new friends but just don't try.

Every central bank of the world buys gold.
There's not enough silver right now for all industrial needs - its in every car and in every electronic gadget (every circuit board).

The constitution also says other funny things like Police shouldn't install Cameras everywhere to screen the population for pre-crime and you're innocent until proven guilty.
The constitution is basically toilet paper at this point and not a single living judge has ever upheld it.

silver and gold, to you, are little more than speculative markets. you're not going into aldis and asking them to spare change for a silver eagle. you shouldn't be buying them unless you're certain that they're going to go up. Silver has had a worse return than any other appreciating asset. Pokemon cards have had a better return than silver.

this doesn't meant you shouldn't buy it, but the idea that you need to spend every dollar right now on god's chosen currency is what leads to yesterday's silver rug.
