Silver sulfide is dark brown/black when thick enough. Silver is easy to test:
1. Ping test, use a finger and a plastic pen. silver has a distinctive ping with a long duration.
2. Specific gravity test, needs an accurate scale and a container of water.
3. Chemical test (destructive) put a drop of egg yolk on the edge of the coin, it will stain from the sulfur in a few minutes.
4. Should not be magnetic.

Am holding, avg price for silver is 38, but this is cause of selling and buying again, original cost basis was more like 24. I’m in it for the long run, buying 1 10 ozt bar per month, don’t mind if it brings the avg price up cause it just gives me more room to avg down in the future. Stacking goal is 160 ozt as this would put me in the top 1%. I only buy 10 ozt bars as this gives me the lowest premium. Price forecast was 85 an ozt by 2030, but this was set in June, with this recent run up I’m gonna have to re forecast as we may hit that sooner.

Industry isn't the only user of silver. Jewelry and investment are other consumers of silver.

Photography and coinage used to consume silver, both of those have declined, but the decline has been offset by increased "green" energy industrial usage, the largest being EVs.

The other thing to realize is the United States used to have a strategic reserve of about 5 billion oz. That reserve was sold off starting in the 1980s, and was completely gone by 2000.

Every year of net deficit since has been eating away at what little silver has been left in the vaults. We are now at the point where there isn't enough available silver to satisfy industrial needs, and the "unavailable" silver (ie, SLV ETF) appears to have multiple claims on each ounce, only one "owner" gets the silver, and all the rest will get force cash settled at a price below what the subsequent market price will be.

Ie, they get cash settled on a Friday closing at $99/oz and wake up Monday morning to find that silver is now $150/oz. Too bad, so sad, if you don't hold it, you don't own it.
