How the fuck are there so many men who are knowledgeable about GPU/CPU architecture and their production workflow now?

I thought this was a niche knowledge base?

Most of them aren't.
There's people in that industry and people paying attention to it for financial reason.
Then there's the gamers. Gamers tend to exaggerate their technical knowledge at all times. It's a massive soft spot for their egos.

Anyone who's worked in any aspect of tech can tell you this. There's the gamer archetype, a spazzy young guy who thinks they're tech savvy because they play tons of video games, and it's one of the few qualities their self esteem has to rely on, yet it's imagined. So they're very very sensitive about it.
