There is something seriously wrong with mining stock prices. Due to the leveraging effect of having relatively fixed costs per oz of gold or silver, they should be making many multiples of earnings beyond what they have in the past. Right now GDX GDXJ SIL and SILJ are only about 2x gold since the start of 2024. I think this is honestly underpriced compared to how much more profit per oz they are making at these metal prices. The thing is: these companies sell their products forward, and are able to lock in elevated metal prices. They don’t even need metals to continue to grow, they just need them to stay somewhat stable and they are making much more $ per quarter than a 2x suggests. I’m thinking of rotating some silver gains into the miners in 2026 as I think they will begin raising dividends, buying back shares ect and will start to get more attention in general. It feels similar to me as when I bought silver at Costco for $30 per oz in late 2024.
