It is so absurdly easy to fall in love in some of these places because of the sex worker dynamic. By making sex work legal all whores end up in their place, as whores. They're not intermingled with the regular girls. Whores are whores and the non-whores are legitimately non-whores because if they were whores, they'd be out on the street earning. There's also the sexual competition that women that aren't whores in these countries are competing against the whores sexually, so they're almost always bringing something more to the table than just their holes. Compare this to the U.S. where if sex work was legal about 70% of the attractive women you know, the girls at the gym, the girls bartending or waitressing would just be on the corner. They are protected from proper categorization to the detriment of women that are actually decent. It's all blended together and in the modern age of online dating and technology in general, this makes for an absolute fucking nightmare. In these other countries it's "oh fuck...you're a prostitute...sorry no I'm not interested" and everyone just smiles and goes their separate ways. When you find the girls that aren't, it's almost always a jackpot. Where you run to problems is where you'd expect: language issues, infrastructure issues, healthcare, etc. But if you took American services and transported it to some of these other cultures while keeping their values in tact, you'd have paradise on Earth.

It's very hot and humid for most of the year so you gotta make sure you're ok with that.$1500 a month is very doable if you're not going out very often or constantly buying food at expensive restaurants. You also need to think about what visa you'll get so you can stay long term. DTV is the best one because it allows you to go in and out of the country as much as you like for 5 years. Another decent option is the education visa if you want to learn Thai. Lots of people used to hop the border and come back to keep renewing the 60-day tourist visa but Thailand is cracking down on that.
