>>
You can't just post hands without timestamp, you retard

Oil is worthless. It will always hover around $60 a barrel, because that's what it cost to make it.

All the oil drillers in America in the Permian Basin (Texas) shut down earlier this year because it just wasn't profitable to drill for it. There was even I company I pulled out of called Atlas Energy (AESI), who was setting up very efficient sand infrastructure for fracking in the Permian Basin. Their stock plummetted, because Americans stopped drilling, because you have a world full of Arabs, Soviets, and Hispanics, who all just keep drilling for it.

Oil is going to zero. Priced in gold, oil has become worthless. I couldn't be bothered calculating, but I remember I calculated 2 years ago, that in 1924, you could buy 2 tons of coal for 1 oz of gold, and in 2024, you could by 52 tons of coal for 1 oz of gold.

All commodities, except for gold, go to zero. Petrol is the only thing in my life that has gotten cheaper. Oil is going to zero. You will never make money from it. I'm an autist for oil and I've read dozens of niche books on oil. You will never make money. It will always get cheaper. We have tens of thousands of years of oil left.

>>
>>61737582 The Permian "Shutdown" vs. Reality I get why it feels like the lights are off in West Texas, especially with Atlas Energy (AESI) taking a ~50% haircut this year. But the data tells a slightly different story. Despite the price hovering around $60-$65, the Permian is actually pumping out near-record volumes (~6.6 million barrels per day). Historically, this ratio averages around 15:1 to 20:1. Right now, it’s closer to 35:1. By your logic, this means oil is getting cheaper relative to gold. But macro-investors often see that gap and conclude oil is undervalued, not headed to zero. As long as we need plastic, jet fuel, and heavy shipping, that floor exists. Do We Have 10,000 Years of Oil? This is where I have to play the "candid peer" role: Not quite. Proven Reserves: At current consumption, we have about 50 years of known, economically viable oil. Total Resources: Even if we include every drop of shale, tar sands, and deep-sea oil we think is there, we’re looking at 200–300 years max—not tens of thousands. Gold is the king of wealth preservation, no doubt. But oil is the "blood" of the global machine. It’s hard to be "worthless" when 90% of everything in your room was delivered by a truck running on it.

>>

Miners don't multiply?
>>
>>61737620
No need to post a Grok answer.

Proven Reserves means nothing, it just place where they're gone to great lengths and spent lots of money to prove a reserve. It doesn't even remotely capture the amount of oil in the Earth's crust.

Everything is going down in gold. By that logic, everything is undervalued.

I don't use plastic because I want to have healthy kids. Heavy shipping can be done with nuclear.

I drink a lot of milk everyday, that doesn't mean I'm going to invest in milk, because farms will keep increasing the production of milk, making it a bad investment. Oil is incredibly useful and energy dense, but I wouldn't invest in it again. It always goes down in price.

I decided to calculate. Oil was $1.88 in 1926, meaning that 1 oz of gold can buy 11 barrels.

Oil is now about $64, meaning that 1 oz of gold in 2026 can buy 86.5 barrels.

Oil has lost over 87% of its value, similar to every other commodity.

All commodities go down in price because humans always figure out ways to produce larger amounts more efficiently. If you invest in oil long term, you are guaranteed to lose money.

If you want to invest in something because trucks use it, you should invest in platinum and actually make money.

How does one pick a good stock?

I need to know. You watch P/E, P/book, P/S and compare with the industry average?
>>
>>61737693
No. Low P/E in commodities usually means that professional investors think that the company will have lower earnings in the future, and this pretty much always comes true.

Just watch a high P/E silver mining company like Hecla. In the next 2 months, it will be much higher, while low P/E oil companies will be lower.

>No need to post a Grok answer.

This is where the logic gets interesting. You argued that all commodities go down because of efficiency, but then suggested platinum as the winner. There’s a bit of a contradiction there: The Efficiency Rule: If humans figure out how to produce oil more efficiently, we do the same for platinum. In fact, if we move toward the nuclear/heavy shipping future you mentioned, or if hydrogen fuel cells (which use platinum) become mass-market, we will find ways to mine platinum from lower-grade ores or even recycle it more effectively. The "Usage" Fallacy: Investing in something just because "trucks use it" is exactly why people bought oil. Platinum’s value is heavily tied to catalytic converters and industrial use. If technology moves away from those (or finds a cheaper substitute like palladium), platinum faces the same "downward" pressure as oil.

You’re right that the price of the commodity is a losing game long-term. However, oil stocks aren't just the price of oil. Cash Flow: Oil companies are essentially "toll booths" for energy. Even if the price of a barrel stays flat or drops relative to gold, these companies pay out massive dividends. The Math: If a company loses 2% in "gold value" a year but pays you a 7% dividend in cash, you’re still technically gaining ground, provided you reinvest.
>>
>>61737684

> Everything is going down in gold. By that logic, everything is undervalued.

We all need to start looking at gold as a basis of account to find undervalued sectors that are cyclically due to take off. Oil is most definitely one eventually.

All the funny money trillions locked up in liquidity sponged like the bond markets are gushing back into the world. Which intrinsically transfers the notional value back to gold. As people attempt to save their capital. And flee to non debasing relative hard assets. You can make a lot of money here obviously being early. Money (value) magic. It’s not IN gold or IN paper. It’s where we collectively believe it lies. It’s all in our heads but it’s real. Very real. And we move the markets thusly.

Platinum's value is as an alternative to gold, but better. It was originally valuable due to its use in jewellery, and it makes for better money than gold, because it doesn't scratch like gold.

When gold scratches, it loses bits of gold. When platinum scratches, it parts but stays on the coin.

It's also much harder to scratch, and corrosive resistant.

The dividend on oil companies is tiny. It can take a year to get a 6% dividend, whereas my precious metals often go up 8% in a single day.

I'll tell you this. When I was all in on fossil fuels, it was the only time in my life when I lost money. When I'm all in on precious metals, I make over half my annual salary in a month.

Also, platinum is extremely rare, unlike hydrocarbons, which are everywhere in the universe. That's why you can't easily just produce more, unlike oil.

>>61737705
Oil has never taken off. If it does, it will quickly be met by more production, making it a bad long term investment.

I recomend going as far out and close to the money as you can on an option. It will cost more to enter, but you will get a gain if it goes up even a little bit, and you have more time to reverse trend if you miss a bottom or there is a dip in the underlying price.

Yes and no. The implosion is going to be blamed on wide scale fraud uncovered by investigation into DTC. The system crash is used for some kind of restructuring. The piling into metals is the definition of harvest time where an undeniably safe store of wealth is used to carry through the turmoil.
Hypothetically, this shouldn't kick off until 2027-2028 for election season.

Micron
Micron over paradise
Micron
Micron over paradise

Golden rays of the glorious Micron

Setting down, such a blood-red day
Now the bears slowly retreat
To the shadows – out of sight

Bullish winds blow across the mountains
Giving flight to the birds of HBM
In the distance the scanners come
To etch the wafers – day by day

Only Micron is with us now
Something dense and pure
Find the margin within the stack
No need for a cure

When the cycle is slow
And the candle’s hot
The short fags waits to see what rots

Oh how pretty
All the lithography

This is Jensen’s sacrifice

When the spot price moves
With a brisk attack
The DRAM cycle breaks its back

When the sun sets
We will not forget the
Micron over paradise

even if he doesn't cuck, we've already done the iran thing a few months back. this is still overblown imo.
>>
>>61738851
Basically, expected that it could maybe reverse the downtrend because a lot of the FUD around ORCL is that they're taking on debt to build out capacity for OpenAI when its unclear how OpenAI will even pay for it.

people are saying the dead protester numbers are much higher than reported. with their internet black out, i tend to believe them.
>>
Boomers absolutely fucking rugged kek
>>
>>61739028
I don't give a fuck about the dead protesters. We could use more of those over here to be quite honest, but I want to see a future where Israel can live in peace and expand into the West Bank uninhibited boss.

If coal, wheat, onions, sugar had looked like silver. Yeah I would of panicked. I took out a short at close and bought 1000 $100 put contracts yesterday in SLV. My goodness. Looks like I'll be retiring at 1pm today

pay off car, you'll have more to play with by not having to make that payment. Whatever opportunity you miss will be pennies in the big scheme.
>>
>>61739351
Trump said we don't need to file anymore so who cares

Sounds like a valid defense to me
>>
>>61739403
Filing your taxes is fucking retarded bullshit anyway. If the IRS can casually make the decision to audit you based on data they have, then they can just do my fucking taxes for me. Even fucking peasants didn't waste hours dealing with tax bullshit, they just paid the tax collector.
>>
>>61739403
Besides imagine caring. Oh no IRS wants to fine me $4000...guess I'll have to pay it off with 2030 funny money when minumum wage will probably be $100,000,000 an hour

Like the trajectory the currency is heading no longer warrants giving a fuck about th IRS
>>
>>61739438
Basically yeah. Sales should be taxed and that's it. Income tax is gay. Tired of paying for niggers to have 9 kids and get $30,000 returns while eat oatmeal for dinner everyday and struggle to keep my 05 dodge neon on the road
>>
>>61738710
35%?
