day 351 of growing my charizard collection till it hits $1milwould do you think of Ascended Heroes, flop or gigainvestible?
investible but not giga since one piece still has hype
Good luck, card anon
Not going to bother with modern stuff. For me it's graded vintage.
What's the appeal of Charizards? Is it even good in competition meta? Not a collector but every time I see any collection it's always Charizards.
>>61820314The appeal of Charizard is1) He's cool2) He was everyone's starter in Gen 1 and 3, unless you were a weirdo.
>>61820328>unless you were a weirdoBulbasuar weirdos for life!
>>61820300appreciate the support
>>61820385Always!
>TCG General AHAHAHAHAHAHA you fucking retards will buy anything
>YATTA, A MONKEY D LOOF!>THAT'S A 20K CARD
>>61820094Only the old cards are worth anything. Here are some of my favorites.
>>61820094>G.i. Joecels coping their shit will have a market now that the boomers who were retarded enough to sell too have gotten wise.HAHAHAHA
>>61820337I believe a disproportionate percentage of bulbasaur choosers turned out to be fags. I read this somewhere
>>61820639I like pussy, but I also like women's feet so take that for what it is
>>61820616Seriously regret selling pic related.
>>61820094Your cards for children will never be worth 1 million. I'll do you a solid a d take those off your hand for 20 bucks cause I want to save you from making a big mistake
>>61820696>Your cards for children will never be worth ACK-
WhitePill me on Pokémon cards.
>>61820645Well it's perfectly heterosexual and normal to enjoy pretty pedicured female feet, but as like a palate cleanser to the main course. What's homosexual is fixating on gender neutral body parts like feet and assholes, and making it your main course. Idk anon
>>61820743They are nostalgic.People want what they couldn't find/afford as kids. Now that they have disposable income they wish to buy it.Exact same thing as Lego sets.
>>61820750What about the new ones?
>>61820754I would assume kids around today will in the future want what they couldn't get. That said, I feel there's less of an upside, chase cards today are instantly put into protectors and preserved, which was definitely not the case twenty years ago.
>>61820094Imagine buyng more of some card than there is players. There will never be demand for cards you collect. If you one of everything there might, but not multiple copies of one.
>>61820760I used to have a whole binder full of Pokémon cards from the late 90s and early 2000s. Gave it to my nieces over a decade ago.My buddy collects Pokémon cards, but he still actually plays with them, not just collecting.
>>61820750Where would they even sell? Most sales of Pokémon cards are in the low price ranges you rarely get anyone willing to fork over 10k for one card regardless of what people show on their folios
>>61820908Shows or ebay. Duh.
>>61820908>rarely get anyone willing to fork over 10k for one cardUhh you have not gone to a card show. People are spending their live savings at these shows because they don't have to worry about ebay or auctionhouse fees.
Doesn't powercreep mean older cards lose value?
>>61821069Good luck. The exit strategy is something not a lot of people think about.eBay/TCG Player take roughly 15% commission off the top right away. Then there’s shipping costs - and oh boy don’t skimp here or you’ll get crucified. You see it all the time in here - “only buy from reputable sellers with 98%+ feedback”. That will exclude you. I’m a small seller on eBay and got 1 negative review that brought me to 97.9%. So in addition to the 15% rake, I have to sell at market or slightly below to attract buyers. Otherwise product is not as liquid as you’d think.>>61821226I have indeed been to card shows most people who go - especially in rural towns and some smaller city areas - again aren't forking over that kind of money especially in this economy, unless you're willing to make trips across country or something to get to shows that most likely YOU don't have access to because you don't have the funds to setip there, you aren't fucking selling shit. What country are you posting from? Let's see your sales.
>>61821236cards rotate out of play usually around 2 years so if they were playable yeah they'll lose value but most rarer cards are valueable for their collectibleness not playability
>>61821300Obviously rural towns and smaller cities are an exception but when you are in a real city where people have actual money and savings, instead of living in a shed they spend more money. Shocker.
>>61822093Yea buddy I'm sure you're raking in hard cash on your cards lol. You aren't making dick, just another cuck grifter.
>>61822207you sounds jealous
>>61822350Jealous of what? Tell me exactly what I'm jealous of.
>>61821300Well I've got an ebay account that's sold stuff over the years. Sounds like that's on you for not having an exit strategy. Fag.
>>61823072uponly sound assets
>>61824306Imagine being this upset and obsessed your grifting is called out lol. Neck loser.>>61824256Post sales faggot, card sales specifically which is what this thread is about dumb redneck hick
>>61824518kek
Since we're on the topic of liquidity, pic related is a card I started speculating on when it was ~$60 or so. Although Pokemon cards are illiquid, there are some significant standouts which have extremely high liquidity. I figured that if I accumulated high market share of these cards and let them mature, I could pay for my entire collection with just a few card flips. The strategy: Approach the hobby like a true collector. Assemble your personal collection. From the cards you've chosen, speculate on a few of the "best" ones and accumulate lots of duplicates. If you're lucky, flipping those duplicates will cover your entire cost basis. This is the best way to create your own liquidity. The hard part is actually letting go. I've become attached and 600% profit isn't even attractive enough
>he thinks buying cardboard rectangles with drawings on them is investing I hope you get raped by a pack of Indians
>>61825161thats me with all my 2000+ charizards
>>61825161but nice dark gengar, hoard them all
you guys make the crypto tards look like nobel laureats
>>61825955sounds like something a fiat/derivative holder would say to demoralize an asset holder
>>61825979i after seeing what you call an asset it's clear to me that you're ngmi
>>61825995sounds like something a privileged douchebag would say to demoralize an up & coming capitalist
What do you guys think about the recent mass layoffs of millennial journalists and game devs? If the trend continues, could we see an avalanche of forced liquidations in the Pokemon and Labubu asset classes?
>>61826036a recession would hit all collectible yeah probs but pokemon always recovers
>>61826797>pokemon always recoversSurvived 2008 and the scamdemic. Pokémon is the bitcoin of collectibles.
10 years too late
>>61826805yep #1 media franchise in the world
imagine putting your NW in illiquid trading cards, and more than like 10
>>61828406>illiquidhe doesnt know
Should I make a custom gold chain for this card?
>>61830303has to be a scuffed chain to match the card kek
What's stopping someone from printing these in their bedroom in international waters?
>>61830356same thing stopping someone printing the dollar
>psa increased prices AND increased wait times
>>61832753yeah grading total scam imo, need pokemon hype to calm down so psa can go back to $10 again
>>61820094I dig it, I dig it
>>61832774even if pokemon hype dies down, there is still one piece and sports cards that will keep psa prices high imo
>>61825161>speculate on a few of the "best" ones and accumulate lots of duplicates. If you're lucky, flipping those duplicates will cover your entire cost basis. Why would flipping a card be that easy though? Say a card is worth $100 now. Next year it may jump to $120. So you waited a year for that 20% increase. Are you basically trying to pick ones that double in value or more? Like $100 now, $200 next year?
>>61833230plenty have shot up in past 2 years>charmander 044 from like $2 to $30>stained glass birds from like $10 to $100>snorlax 051 from like $1 to $20probs at least 50 other examples from recent IR's but cant be bothered to type more, trick is finding undervalued ones today as with the hype everything is high
>>61830356It's very hard. Even if the original card printer companies tried to replicate 30 year old cars they'd most likely fail. It wouldn't pay well since the cards would lose value if it ever became public knowledge. Anyone who can do it can make more money going legit.
*AHEM*I have an announcement6 7that is all.
>>61835941kek congrats anon, $100k soon
>>61820094is buying boosters and holding them for 5 years a good investment ? i saw that they 2x 5x and 10x sometimes
>>61836599100% but ideally not loose boosters (like ones not in box packaging)for sealed look for:>booster boxes>booster bundles>elite trainer boxes (ideally "pokemon center" exclusive versions)>sleeved boosters (cardboard packaging)but loose boosters for 5 years is still a solid investment just not as much premium
>>61836599On average yeah but lots of booster boxes can crab for many years before suddenly exploding out of nowhere or the amount of sales go down to a point where its hard to even track the price.
>>61824518Why would I give you my ebay account to fuck with? Is it really that hard to believe I maintain sub-$100 sales on a semi regular basis to build up feedback?Seething.>>61825161It's for this reason I only bother with vintage and Gen 1. More recognizable, more desirable, and more nostalgic.
>>61836845>>61838110ok okare other cards worth it like magic or one piece ?
>>61833371Appreciate the examples thank you
>>61838752one piece is trending at the moment yeah but hard to tell if it will stick vs crash (defo fomo going on)
>>61838752Magic yes but Hasbro are immensely greedy and do stupid shit. Still, people play the game and one of the popular formats purposely involved opening sealed packs, so they're consumables with ever dwindling supply. Eventually people get nostalgic about older sets, not in 20 years but like 4-6. They buy a booster box at a big premium and call up the boys and arrange a game night. Box can sit in their closet for weeks or months while everyone is sorting out their plans with kids and work. Have that play out over 10-15 years and suddenly it's impossible to find boxes and when you do they're like a grand.New games like OP are extremely risky but obviously the potential upside is also massive. Historically anything that isn't Magic or Pokemon is trash in terms of value.
>>61825161Vintage gengar is the future
I’ve been collecting vintage (WOTC) mod cards because I like them but lol at people calling them illiquid. Yeah you can’t just offload them like a stock but they are at worst a week from listing to sale.
>>61839819yeah nothing wrong with vintage, just list it till it sells
>>61830303just found out I have 2 charizards 4/102 in a condition like that from when I was a kid. Also like 60 more vintage ones just rotting away in a box. There are maybe 1000 cards in total. Many are probably worth less than 2 cents but I have no idea.I don't want them and I have zero knowledge about them. I just want to get rid of them with a reasonable loss. Please spoonfeed me how. Just ebay auction every single card away? Sell the whole batch? What would you tell your relatives that found ancient pokemon cards?None of them are in a stellar condition. Do they have to be graded anyway or can I just assume a PSA1?
>>61840240if I were you I'd look for the best ones, put them all on a table, and take a picture.then upload the picture to Chat GPT and ask it to give a price estimate. then think about putting a value on the entire lot.the more times you do this, the more precise your value estimate will become. You're going to need some pictures to create an ebay/facebook marketplace/discord listing. If you shoot me a message on discord I'll give some advice or maybe buy it. phonklover6353
>>61840311ChatGPT sounds reasonable. Thank you.But no thank you on the Discord part. I learnt about stranger danger before I was playing with those cards. Good luck picking up other cheapies tho.
>>61820094garbage zard investor>oooo look at my 13x japanese ungraded nigger zards
>>61840390Tbh you're not going to escape "seller's risk". I've been doing it for a while and as a seller searching for a quick sale, you're looking at 85% of market value BEFORE taking condition into account. That's because Ebay takes a 15% fee. People in the trading card space generally know Ebay's cut, and so they will offer 80-90% of market value even during face-to-face deals. You might be able to rely on Ebay policies that say they protect both parties, but often rulings err on the side of the buyer. I've heard numerous stories of sellers gets shafted. This is especially true if your account has low reputation. Better to make a deal w/ me goy
>>61840442Grok just guessed a PSA 6 and a few hundred bucks for the first charizard. Let me go check the other 1000 cards real quick, brb.
>>6184040313 of 3000 zards
>>61820616>Not a single 1st edition
>>61820616nice zards anon i hope to have 5+ base set zards by summer
