What's stopping someone from maxing out their sick day entitlement due to stress or depression or other mental health illnesses when they are on course to be fired? Some companies offer months of pay on sick leave.
>>
Nothing. I have had many friends do this, take vacations, call out on the day they're supposed to return and take all of their sick time and then quit. One of them got like... 2 months paid out before they eventually left

Nothing. If you 100% know youre getting fired, take whatever you can get

decent places will pay out your accumulated vac and sick leave time with our last paycheck when you leave, whether you quit or are dismissed.
you need to have to "use it up" before you leave. you get the payout

Most will pay vacation but I've rarely seen sick time or floating holidays paid out

I only have like 2 sick days per year while coworkers have 20-40. I have to cover for them. Might be off topic but how is this fair and how can I tell my boss what the fuck is going on.

>sick day entitlement
we hired a young fit looking woman. Probation was one year. In about two months she came in with a doctor's note stating she had carple tunnel and could not work for a few weeks, that became a few months, then it became permanent and she applied for full time dissability.

if you use it while still employed you would also get your 401k match...maybe not the case with a payout

They will have no problems firing you while out on sick leave, anon.
>>
they usually don't tell you that they will fire you for this exact reason, you can bust your knee or fingers for a huge amount of $$$

yes of course they can, but they will get sue'd in the blink of an eye and they won't do it in first olace

Some employers require a doctor's note if you use too many consecutive sick days.
