Kids are expensive ay first, then require less as they get older. You dont really think about how much you are spending on them because its not like you can neglect them. So you make it work. If they need something, you find a way. Once they are in school, it gets significantly cheaper. You can't go into kids with expense in mind. If you do, it may stop you from doing it and that would be a shame. I realize that im talking g to an audience which mostly has never touched a woman, but I can tell you from the other side, it is very much worth it if you have even the slightest desire to have them. If you abhore them, thats fine, its not for you.

The best one was working at a brokerage as a receptionist (brick and mortar presence was a bigger thing back then) and was socking her spare money into the stock market. I spent a couple hundred a month while dating her, a few grand on the engagement ring, then another 15k on the wedding/honeymoon. Totally worth it, we've been married 29 years now, and we've never had an argument over money. When we were teens all my money went to her dates and presents and going out to lunch, but now that we’re 30 and have two kids it’s more like her buying diapers and lots of kid staples like milk. Wife is pretty thrifty and loves thrifting and she stays home with the kids so no daycare. Basically only asks for a bottle of perfume every holiday that requires presents. She’s much more interested in investing in silver and gold and finding a good house in a good school district for the next move. So poor when we were teens having fun and now not really a huge expense now that we’re older, we have 4 people on one income and a couple of dogs.
