my advice would be to learn math. you should know what exponentials are and how they relate to interest rates, inflation, &c. this should give you a great intuition of how things actually work and how to manage money.

also, do what you love (assuming you actually have any interests...), but... try to give things a practical sense, and be realistic. do you want to be an architect? do you know anyone in the field? are there any jobs? if not, maybe study architecture, but give it a twist, study something else and become a specialist. network your way into jobs WHILE studying. do things that are useful to others. if you need to, just follow whatever professional trend exists to make yourself recognized, then jump into what you actually want to do. you get my point?

Well I'm almost done with high school and gonna go to this state commuter college and then transfer to a really good public college that is also close by so that's about all the education I got at this age. As for my carrier prospects I'm gonna go on my colleges pre-heath track since it covers all the prerequisites for most professional schools and science is my favorite subject and I'm pretty good at it. To give myself a better chance I'm gonna shadow/intern in a variety of different types of spaces so I can pick something that won't make me want to kill myself in 10 years and network and make connections with people more experienced than I am along the way.

I'm feeling bullish about starting a STEM education now. Normally it's most sensible to start education in a field that'll still exist in 3-5 years and is currently getting fudded a lot. Both apply to STEM.

Look into the different funds Vanguard offers, choose one based on your risk:reward preference, buy portions of it in regular intervals. Personally, I'm a VOO guy, but to each their own (VTI, VT, etc..). Set aside whatever portion of your paycheck you can reasonably allocate, and buy your preferred fund at an interval of your choosing (every paycheck, every other paycheck, every quarter, whatever works for you). It won't seem like much at first, and the gains will be minimal, but you're 18. Even with 12 years of steady, compounding gains, you'll be well ahead of your peers by 30. Do this through a Roth IRA if it's available to you (which it likely is) to avoid tax burden.
