I'm 18 what should I be doing right now any good advice from some oldfags with some good experience on how I can get ahead
>>61824464Minimize how much debt you take on. If you don't know how that shit works take the time to learn about it because it tends to fuck a lot of people over and make them work longer.
>>61824464>BTC for short term>index fund for medium term>silver for long term>DCA is your friendSimple as.
>>61824464Your zip code is a good predictor of your future
Just bitcoin, it's the convergence point outside this gay system. Metal has premiums making your investment net negative day 1.
>>61824469Debt is something I'm already trying to avoid entirely. It's why I'm gonna commute to college and have my parents pay for it since that's how alot of people my age get into debt
>>61824481I've been told to invest into a vanguard fund but can someone get more in depth into it
>>61824464Invest in your human capital (getting certs, a degree or whatever else will help you get greater income), aim for a high paying job if you're immediately planning to work, otherwise work a little job on the side, start saving money so you get used to it and invest long term in a diversified manner
save your moneypeel off like 100 dollars a week and put it in a savings account or a gic or something
I was a neet until 26
>>61824464don't ask this retarded forum for advicealso, you need to tell us what your skills, experience and education are, otherwise the advice might be useless or counterproductivemy advice would be to learn math. you should know what exponentials are and how they relate to interest rates, inflation, &c. this should give you a great intuition of how things actually work and how to manage money.also, do what you love (assuming you actually have any interests...), but... try to give things a practical sense, and be realistic. do you want to be an architect? do you know anyone in the field? are there any jobs? if not, maybe study architecture, but give it a twist, study something else and become a specialist. network your way into jobs WHILE studying. do things that are useful to others. if you need to, just follow whatever professional trend exists to make yourself recognized, then jump into what you actually want to do. you get my point?
>>61824623>>61824900Well I'm almost done with high school and gonna go to this state commuter college and then transfer to a really good public college that is also close by so that's about all the education I got at this age. As for my carrier prospects I'm gonna go on my colleges pre-heath track since it covers all the prerequisites for most professional schools and science is my favorite subject and I'm pretty good at it. To give myself a better chance I'm gonna shadow/intern in a variety of different types of spaces so I can pick something that won't make me want to kill myself in 10 years and network and make connections with people more experienced than I am along the way.
>>61824900>study something elseI meant to say>ALSO study something else>>61824959>science is my favorite subjectgo talk to >>>/sci/STEMthings aren't looking good right now, AFAIK... but economic cycles are like that.don't get disillusioned too fast, but again, be realistic.
>>61825002>things aren't looking good right now, AFAIK... but economic cycles are like that.I'm feeling bullish about starting a STEM education now. Normally it's most sensible to start education in a field that'll still exist in 3-5 years and is currently getting fudded a lot. Both apply to STEM.

>>61824464you should be maxxing your skills and knowledge do not waste thousands of hours on chinky videogames and whore women. save as much money as you can work as hard as you acn put it all into gold while you keep saving until you have enough in 10 years to purchase property and become a landlord or capitalist. thats literally the secret recipe to wealth and comfort, enjoy
>>61824464cliche but who you hang around you will become, in good and in bad. Couple of my friends started spending time with the wrong people and became druggies. One OD'd few years ago. I also know a guy who swears his financial success comes from him starting to spend time with successful people.Btw manifestation is real
>>61824464dont go to university unless you are becoming a doctor. medicine specifically. DO NOT STUDY TO BE A LAWYER or computer programmer or anything like that. otherwise trade school or figure out a small business.if you dont have a job get one now, mcdonalds or anything you can. just do what you’re fucking told, the money is what matters. ignore all the interpersonal shitty little workplace drama.now here is the most important bit, invest all the money you make. literally all that you possibly can. live with your parents for as long as humanely possible. here’s something crazy. if you invest $500 a month from 18-28 and then stop completely, you will have VASTLY more money by age 65 than someone who starts investing 500 a month at 28 and does it till age 65. thats the magic of compounding returnsas for what to invest in, stick with ETFs that track the global stock market and your own stock market, and maybe the US. do not buy individual stocks, you have no idea what youre doing. please dont waste your potential massive returns on some shitcoin, do not by anything other than BTC crypto wisethis advice will ensure you can retire in your 40s but the problem is virtually no 18yo will ever follow it, they are too busy having stupid teen romance dramas.oh and stop watching porn, smoking weed and playing multiplayer games for hours a week. you’re not cool, there’s a billion other stupid teens wasting time on the same stupid things.
>>61825182Honestly I think peer pressure isn't real if you have a competent iq it doesn't take alot just to say no to someone so I try to spend time with people at least at where I am right now who aren't down bad with drugs or at least are trying to recover
Life will pass by really fast, one day you will wake up at the age of 29 and realize you are almost 30 and your youth is over. Financially just invest like 500 bucks a month like others said and you'll be fine. Real friends are impossible to make after age 20-ish btw. The agepill is brutal
>>61825236trvke. the problem is not being able to take all you learned and go back. i want a do over nigga
>>61824566Look into the different funds Vanguard offers, choose one based on your risk:reward preference, buy portions of it in regular intervals. Personally, I'm a VOO guy, but to each their own (VTI, VT, etc..). Set aside whatever portion of your paycheck you can reasonably allocate, and buy your preferred fund at an interval of your choosing (every paycheck, every other paycheck, every quarter, whatever works for you). It won't seem like much at first, and the gains will be minimal, but you're 18. Even with 12 years of steady, compounding gains, you'll be well ahead of your peers by 30. Do this through a Roth IRA if it's available to you (which it likely is) to avoid tax burden.
If you express concern over getting older, or that you feel like time is passing too quickly, smug boomers will give you their iconic retarded smirk and tell you "WELL IF YOU'RE FEELING OLD, I MUST BE ANCIENT! HAHAHAHA! RELAX, KID, YOU'VE GOT ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD."Don't listen to them. We don't have the luxury of fucking around like they did.I don't say that to be bleak, but to emphasize that you're entering a critical period of your life and you can't let yourself grow complacent.t. early zoomer (1999)
>>61825256That's called having kids. You do your best to impart some of the knowledge you've gained so they fuck up in less ways than you did. Make sure to encourage them to have kids to continue the process. Unless you're Indian, then disregard my advice.
>>61824900>"don't ask this retarded forum for advice">gives retarded advice on the forum he calls retardedshiggy diggy doo-wop
>>61824464Exercise Get your education Go to church Everything else will work itself out if you take care of mind body and soul.
