Anyone constantly feel like they are going to get fired? Its been 1.5 years at this job and every day I have a mini heart attack. Its exhausting living like this. Its from a combo of ptsd from getting fired for BS reasons before and my boss doing the MBA thing were he always has to have something negwtive to say about how u should improve. When there isnt anything to say they just make shit up.I cant get a new car, house, go on vacation ecen though I get 3k after tax every 2 weeks. Just cant get fucking comfortable.
>>61834920Always, even more so in this economy and being a programmer to boot. I have more in cash than I'd like simply for the peace of mind. It's never gone away for me, even though I've never been fired or laid off.
>>61834920Yep. >Boss calls me into his office>Think this is finally it, bracing myself to get fired >"I just wanted to tell you what a good job you're doing and to keep up the good work. You're one of the hardest working people here and it shows. ">Think he's being sarcastic and putting me on notice and surely next time he calls me in I will be fired>Repeat every month for what is now two years
>>61834920This is why I’m getting a second job again soon, better safe than sorry. Don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have one for a few months already when my first full-time job laid me off years ago.
>>61834920Yeah, I assume every closed door conversation is about me, specifically. I should stop being such a lazy ass at work but I just can’t make myself care.
>>61834947Getting laid off is awaome, u get paid while u look for a better job and have a good excuse to put on ur resume
>>61834949I have lazy and super hard working months and it seems like it doesnt make a difference on how management views me
>>61834947I've thought about that but I'm already so lazy and slow to respond I can't imagine how much worse it'll be if I get a second job>>61834949Same
>>61834952Would have been nice if I got more than 2 weeks of severance pay. They let us off right before the holidays as well to avoid giving out more benefits and bonuses. Though this was a poorly managed NFT company in late 2022 that thought it was a good idea to hire people they would go on to lay off with a week or two. Gunny enough I saw months earlier they were running out of money in a secret slack channel they forgot to private. How you project losing all the $100+ million in your funding raises in a few months and then decide to hire dozens more people in that same timeframe is mind boggling to me. If you work for a financially conservative company that doesn’t hire like crazy in good times that’s usually a fairly solid sign you won’t have to deal with layoffs in the near future.
Tbh they should fire me. In barely do anything. I just don't wanna put in too much effort because when I eventually will get fired it will feel like I wasted my energy. I'm at the whim of the venture capitalists.Man these captchas and countdowns are getting more and more annoying
>>61834920I used to feel that way, now I just don't care. I assume my job will one day be taken over by A.I. the fuck am i supposed to do about it?
>>61834920I have the opposite problem, I would like to get fired to enjoy a couple of years of unemployment benefits but my boss doesn't give a shit and the company is a mess so I keep pushing my decision to quit year after year because the job is comfy af
>>61835057Not get fired and get laid off instead with UBI..
>>61835068U wont get unemployment benefits if u are fired, just laid off..
>>61835087In my europoor country you can only "fire" people for very specific reasons that don't apply in my case, it would be the equivalent of a lay off but it's not fucking happening sadly. My plan is to quit voluntarily and then work a temporary one day job to qualify for benefits, but I fear the next workplace may not be as comfy as this one
>>61834920Every day I wake up hoping that I'm going to get fired since it would mean that I could NEET it up for awhile. I can't bring myself to quit my job in this market, but I'm so fucking tired of working.
>>61834920my first big boy job felt like that. And its true, i had kind of lied and was in way over my head. Eventually I made a genuinely huge contribution that automated one of their systems becoming the widely adopted industry standard.I didn't find out until after they had fired me though, at a different job 3 years later
>>61834920Yeah. You could be anxious or you could embrace it. Start looking into how to negotiate your severance so if/when it happens you aren't caught off guard. Everyone should learn HR speak and HR documentation practices if you're ever actually going to be prepared.
>>61835141Wait, so u revolutionized their system and they still fire u? What do u think happened? A higher up taking credit for it and shit talking u cuz thats what I feel is happening to me now
>>61835156What if they are just busting my balls and doing the HR black magick will piss them off?
>>61835163(You) don't do anything. You learn how they speak so you can recognize when they're actually going to fire you.
>>61835195He said im not delivering on my commitables even though its not true and he couldn't give me an example.. They are gonna fire me right?
You should have went into medicineThese faggots in admin kiss our ass constantly because nobody wants their doctor to quit
>>61834920Totally.I billed barely any time today and I have no idea what I'm doing in general. It's bound to end in catastrophe. Being a litigation associate is fucking gay.
It's a struggle anon, I'm in the same boat since last year. I work a blue collar job and the work got so slow that my manager shifted me to a lower role. He's doing everything he can to get me to quit by putting heavy workload from my coworkers to avoid firing me/laying me off. I want to quit this job so much and work my way out of this field. It's literally destroying my body, my arms are so sore.
>>61835207Medicine is boring as fuck unless u are a researcher but just that alone would be worth it
>>61834920Sitting on a nice pile of cash. Every day I wish I was laid off. I’m pretty sure I could make more money as a contractor or starting my own business. Job too comfy now since I WFH and can work abroad half the year.
>>61834920>2025 YE results UP>Unemployment at 4.4%>CPI YoY Inflation DOWN>manufacturing is slightly DOWN>payroll FLAT>jobs FLATtime for raises or better jobs. viva le revolucion and shit. that's some Spanish for you, troons how was that?Get your side hustle going.Get your resume updated.Get your cocks hard again.DEI is cancelled. This company is for faggots by the way. Burn bridges because they'll be calling you to ask for help when AI doesn't do everything. If not, then fuck it just be poor for a while. It's win-win. If I'm wrong, then you'll have some debt or something good practice for you to pay that off later. Don't be a pussy.
>>61834920Sounds like imposter syndrome. You get used to it, though it never goes away completely. I'm 60 now, and when that feeling starts getting intense I know what it really means is that several coworkers are about to get laid off.
>>61834920meanwhile the reddit strat of working at mcdonalds and buying silver is still working
>>61835316easy way to not have imposter (sus) syndrome: don't be a fake ass nigga
>>61835324Go be stupid someplace that appreciates it.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impostor_syndrome
>>61835350I'm well aware of what impostor syndrome is and I never felt it because I despise fake people
>>61834920Yeah, the feeling ebbs and flows even though I've been employed here for 10 years. Thankfully this is a megacorp and they don't really lay people off often. I would take a second remote gig but honestly don't want the extra headache. I barely do anything at this job atm though and probably could take on something else additionally.>>61835258based
>>61834920weird ass looking gold
>>61835527thats gubbimint cheese nigga
>>61834952i would get half a year severance but my fear is the taste of freedom would ruin me. I have enough runway to basically fuck off to SEA
>>61835818How much does it take to run away to sea?
>>61835398battletoad physique
>>61835199> He said im not delivering on my commitablesImagine having to talk like a fag like this
No, just got promoted for second time since covid and now make nearly 200k pretax. 100% wfh since then too
>>61835904U work hard?
>>61835924Not compared to the avg american. 2/3 of the year I average about 3-4hrs of actual work a day, the other third 6-7
