the betting markets are getting out of hand
>>
>>61835991
they'll get out of hand when they'll start betting real money on real shit, with hired armies fighting each other for one or the other outcome
>>
meh im not a fan of financialization, but both of these markets are people betting their money on things that have nothing to do with the economy. they are playing shell games with each other and its almost certain the more intelligent ones will win

its a stupid game but its fair

I can think of 20 movies with this exact plot

no, it's an avenue for bribes and mercenary work. this other stuff like in OP is just superficial nonsense

if there were ever a time for a god to start smiting it would be now
but yet people still wait
i wonder if that’s how kids feel when their father goes off to get a pack of cigs from the gas station and never return

In this particular instance, yeah. But in the vast majority of cases, individuals can easily manipulate the outcome and cash in for themselves and their friends. It's like boxers throwing a game except they can do it 100 times over without ruining their reputation in the process.

It's just insider trading made legal. Simple as

Kalshi is more interesting because they are run by ex Goldman slaves and have heavy private equity backing while Polymarket is run by a turbojew NYU dropout who collects NFTs and is backed by Thiel and Vitalik (!). Mansour and Lopes Lara were smart enough to keep their heads down and promote prediction markets as a smarter, better, more efficient way to settle wagers and totally definitely of course not unregulated degenerate gambling while Copland went full fucking retard, got Polymarket banned in a bunch of countries, had the feds raid his house, and had to bribe the Trump admin just to stay out of jail. Guy is more interested in laundering crypto money than he is in actually running a legitimate business. Just google him and tell me he doesn't have 'the next SBF' written all over his turbojew face. Whoever the next prez is is going to crack down hard on him and he'll end up in a prison cell in NY or self deport to Bali or some non extraditing country and spend the rest of his days promoting crypto scams leaving Kalshi to take on the traditional casinos in a Vegas vs. Wall Street, "who's got the best lobbyists and deepest pockets" showdown. They'll probably make a movie out of it in 20 years that no one will watch.

The one thing we need to make this literally the big short is just making it so you bet on the predictions of multiple other predictions.
