Soviets managed to electrify the country and provide a basic, but modern living standard and support a huge military. You need an advanced economy for that. It just wasn’t as advanced as its competitors. Liberal society is a recent phenomenon and me and you should pray it doesn’t change for something different for the worse. It likely happened not due to some innate ability to have self respect, but due to technological conditions, resource availability, climate, population structure, diseases and so on. It must be so complex. Boiling it down to race is narcissistic oversimplification.

Culture and genetics make or break a country, not form of government or economic model. The US as an absolute monarchy would probably still beat the USSR kek.
