If America can just waltz into another country, then that country's own bonds are worthless as there is less a guarantee they can pay their denbts back. Imagine holding Iranian bonds right now or bonds of their supporters. They'd be better off dumping them for American bonds. This is why the concept of going to war for profit exists.
