The place I was working had spent years and millions of dollars trying to solve some knotty problems and had made no progress despite having a PhD and several mensa members on the team. I happened to overhear some discussion about it in the lunchroom and before I finished my ham sandwich I had figured out the solution, which led to me getting promoted to the technical lead on that team and making pretty good money, a decade later I'm in the top 1% in net worth in the US, all for a whopping 5 minutes of actual thinking.
