Does successful trading require a mathematical model or can I simply browse /biz/pol/ and arbitrage normie cognitive dissonance?Risk management is still important, you have to decide if you're going for position size or big percent gain.It seems like everyone else is obsessed with options credit spreads or gambling when they'd be better served with traditional stocks and etfs.An obvious example now is oil, even people late to the trade got theirs.
>>61928906If people are talking about it, its too late, but from an outside perspective it seems trading is equal parts luck and knowledge. You can study a stock and fail, and you can blindly pick a stock and win. Has good information been posted here? Yes. Have people lost a lot of money from stuff posted here? Yes.
>>61928906>arbitrage normie cognitive dissonanceYeah that's a good strat. Even the stock market seems to believe whatever politicians say and move exactly how they tell it to move. A veteran noticer has a real edge on the market
>>61928906The most important thing to being successful long term without going full ape gamba mode is knowledge.Knowledge plus timing on multiple time frames is the key to high percentage wins. You say they got in late? They're still early if you zoom out. They're only late if you have an extremely low tolerance for losses and look at very short time frames. Most winning trades don't happen over hours, they happen over days or weeks. You can have an OTM trade for days before it becomes profitable. That's where risk management comes in.

>>61929047That's what I was thinking used to think, and it's true, but not here. If people are talking about it here but not on goybook (or they have it backwards) it's not too late. I've cucked myself out of gains by thinking I was late when I was early. >>61929083>>61929094Yeah for awhile I was insecure because I didn't feel like I had a pattern based strategy and also insecure about not having a more mathematical understanding of the chart. When really there's big opportunities in trading news. I'm also realizing it's important to not be early either, obviously you don't want to be late. Even if you discovered something that nobody else knows it will still take time to play out and you might want to wait anyway (like burry even though that example is probably Jewish fiction)
