Just post this in a random other thread, figured I'd shoot it here as well.. My folks got me to open a TFSA and chucked ten grand in it, but it's policed by some financial advisor that works for a company I surprisingly trust. I've only managed to speak to him once so far, and he was trying to talk to me about setting up fully just ETF's. I mentioned wanting equity in Canadian mining/energy, yank war related companies, and random big wig yank equity names, but he was shilling me on all ETF's instead of equity. Any advice? Are ETF's actually half decent? I will inherit a decent bit, as I'm an only child, nothing insane but enough, so I'm hoping to roll the dice harder than having this 10 grand be 25 grand by 2066 (not that I want to piss the money away or that I don't still need 25 fuckin grand). I would rather lose a decent bit trying to risk it, wisely, than make 5% a year and pay this dude half of what I earned. inb4 fire the cunt and do it yourself, my old man isn't gonna let that shit fly.

worst metal ever financially wise, it's 8% of the mass of this planet lol, Alu is only tied to energy costs, it's everywhere but requires very powerful electric furnaces for smelting due to high melting point.
You got much better opportunities when it comes to metals. Some of those have been in critical supply deficit for years, while demand is going always higher.
Silver got memed to no end with this structural supply deficit versus growing demand (and it was/is real), but that's not the only one : niobium, tin, platinum, samarium, gallium, hafnium, copper... to name a few.
Aluminum isn't one of them.

ETFs are safer than single stocks because they don't carry the risk that something like super micro showed where they just dumped because nobody could be bothered to file required financial statements. You could have lost your ass on those guys. Or like a gold miner where they end up not being able to effectively mine gold for one reason or another. Or an energy company whose rival got a government contract instead. All ETFs are are baskets of equities managed by someone else.
If you want to invest in a sector, buy ETFs targeting that sector. If you want a full time job, research and buy single stocks. If you want to gamble because funny line on computer, just buy single stocks without researching them

Some countries will tax your dividends and capital gains even if you don't live in the country.
I can't stand the thought of some NEET fags living off my trades and dividends in those countries. So I'm staying away from those shitholes.
Singapore, Hong Kong, and London stock exchanges are the only based ones i found so far that wont tax non-residents.

iran have a supposedly stock of 80k drones, let say they lose half or more in bombardments, that’s is still 40k cheap drones that they can launch from basically everywhere in the country and fuck over the gulf states, once gulf states ran out of interceptors we are talking about damaging middle east oils refineries that will take YEARS to rebuild, that’s worst case scenario and sadly what we are getting most likely.

>it dips again after you buy it

Find good stock that shot up
>it also dips after you buy it

Stock underperforms?
>it dips cause bad news

Stock overperforms?
>it dips cause sell the news

Stock makes new discovery
>doesnt budge, it was priced in

Stock you're researching the history of but are too late on

Random stock that is way overpriced and should never keep making more money

It's a fabricated headline to keep the market from crashing now after the Navy quietly announced they can't reopen the strait. Pic related. It's very unlikely that Iran even has a coherent government to negotiate with in the first place, let alone after Trump used the last three negotiations to assassinate their people in bad faith.

it was their only move though. Tanking the western economies for this 60 or 90 days special military operation before it gets voted out.
I mean, it can work but they have to go further and make sure LNG terminals, oil wells and refineries burn down.

A version of a GEX chart.
SPX options open interest, expiring today.
Values are notational. So there's over 6 million dollars worth of underlying bets that the sp500 will fall to 6705, for example.
It's supposed to be a technical indicator warning about potential option assignments accelerating prices up or down, since assignments have to purchase underlying at their strike price a lot of them firing does influence price (though not the spx but whatever I mean original idea). You can get price action that looks similar to a squeeze or a waterfall.
In practice since the institutions write the options and they lose money if the options don't expire worthless a lot of people like me use the charts to predict price based on "what benefits the market makers the most?". In today's case the overwhelming majority of options expiring today are puts so they win if number go up.
