I am looking for alternative housing that is at least 2x-3x cheaper than regular.Even though pic rel was apparently only 25% cheaper at the time in the 40s. I do not want some card board bullshit. I want something that can also last more than a life time. Are modular/prefab homes worth it? They seem to get increasingly popular.I have hard time trusting the quality of anything nowdays.I do not want to buy some cheap cuckshed that only lasts 15 years if I am lucky. Or should I just buy a big yurt? Traditional mongolian yurts cost pennies compaired to everything else.
>>61944216container homes maybe?
>>61944216Buy land. Slowly improve it and build on it. Start with a trailer or container
>>61944216live with roommates/parents and save until you can buy a real house, i dont think cheaping out on something you live in the rest of your life is worth it. go tour a prefab and see how you can hear everything in the other rooms, how everything looks good from far away but up close its cheap shit material
>>61944216Stop being an insufferable idiot and you can life for free.
>>61944216buy a starter homethen buy a better home, and rent the starter homepay in cash, you only need an inspector. surveys are for faggotsrepeat x3congrats now you'll be making about 6k a month and can retire>oh no there's a problem that needs an expensive fixits a write off you mark
>>61944283>>61944556Do not live in a container, those are a meme. Buy a lightly used trailer from some dead boomer's kids/grandkids they inherited.
>>61944216just have a box culvert delivered somewhere and then you can just shit in a bucket
1. be homeless for a week2. go to a shelter, give them a believable sob story3. get a part time job4. find the cheapest apartment in the city5. go to your case manager and ask about any housing programs6. you're now paying 300$ for a studio downtownIt may be the nigger route but also the most direct if you're poor.
>>61944216>housing that is at least 2x-3x cheaper than regular.get 2-3 roommates. problem solved
>>61944216If I hadn't bought a house I could have easily retired now I have to maintain this piece of shit and pay taxes for the privilege.I can't *just* sell because I have a crapload of tools and grandmas China to get rid of first. If I ever get laid off I'll probably do it though and be free.
>>61944216Modular prefab home are superior to houses put up by cheap contractors.
>>61947945>if I owned nothing, I could be happy
Buy a really old house that still looks ok? It if stood for 150 years and is still not falling apart, then you can manage another 50 probably.
>>61944216I'm living with my parents.
>>61945723Even starter homes around here are 250k+. Also they always need work/updating. I've thought about doing this but i can stick 250k in the market and make more.
>>61948270>zoomer expects a "starter home" to be new build quality
The only shortcut is duplex then rent half it, which is a major pain in the butt
