here we go

Nah but looking at the replies you might think so. It is unironically bad though. If the private credit sector actually shits itself, which it seems like it’s doing, that’s a longterm problem. Stocks can randomly go bullish if Trump deescalates the war tomorrow (though obviously he won’t); private credit collapsing can’t be undone.

Your money is now their money. As per the rules. Scary for anyone who invests.

Research this if you want to.

Cede technically owns most of the publicly issued stock in the United States. Thus, most investors do not themselves hold direct property rights in stock, but rather have contractual rights that are part of a chain of contractual rights involving Cede. Securities held at Depository Trust Company are registered in its nominee name, Cede & Co., and recorded on its books in the name of the brokerage firm through which they were purchased; on the brokerage firm's books they are assigned to the accounts of their beneficial owners.

It's not a liquid fund. The money is locked in the assets held by the fund. They can't sell entire hotels and factories overnight to satisfy all redemption requests, liquidations happen on schedule and for a fixed amount, everyone who doesn't fit in the fixed amount has to wait for the next event.
