SOMETIMES however you get some fucking asswipe that won't pay an invoice and won't return your calls or answer the door (in my case it was for $600), and you obsess over it every single day for months. Then one day opportunity strikes and you see they put their house up for sale and there's a pending offer. So you waste 2 hours of your life driving to the county clerks office to file a mechanics lien against their property so they can't close, and call their real estate agent making them aware of the situation. Their real estate lawyer calls threatening a lawsuit if the deal falls through and they can't close. You ignore the voicemails. Less than 24hrs and a liter of whiskey later you get the payment via Venmo and have to go back to the county clerks office to drop the lien. Still better than working in an office I guess. In the 5 years of owning my business I've never been stiffed but have had to do this on 3 separate occasions. It's ALWAYS upper middle class retards in debt up to their eyeballs.
