Hey /biz/, I'm beginning a long process of storing sugar for the future as an investment. I think the world is running out of energy, and processed sugar is energy in a form ready for human consumption. It can be stored for centuries, and it costs ~$1 per pound. This could be a way to get rich and save lives in the very distant futureThe current plan is to use55 gallon open head steel oil drums55 gallon mylar bags (5 mil)55 gallon semi rigid drum liners (24 mil)lots of dessicant packetslots of white sugarthis could change as I figure out wtf im doing
>>61951352No one gonna want your fucking sugar. We are finding out more and more how unhealthy sugar is for the human body. I've been sugar free and never felt better.
>>61951358ray peat said sugar is good for you but nobody took him serious
>>61951352Sugar goes bad.
>>61951358Are you saying he should diversify with lard?
>>61951399Are you saying I should diversify with lard?
>>61951421yes and salt
>>61951352how are you going to sell your sugar?
I would probably try to figure out how to store protein. You body can’t convert sugar into some essential amino acids so you can’t live on it by itself .
>>61951358Fpbp
>>61951421sugar is cheap and can be grown in quantity in a seasonlard is just processed corn oil. It goes rancid pretty quickly.high quality, saturated animal fats take serious time and attention to make and get better with age. You are already priced out.
>$125-$175 per drum>55 lb empty>holds roughly 400 lb of sugar>break even at $1.31 to $1.43 per lb of sugar of purchases at $1/lb>does not even consider storage costs>100 barrels of sugar is a $52,500 investment >if sugar eventually goes to $2 per lb you double your money>$52,500 less the cost of storage>at least $1500 per month storage>$18,000 per year>after 3 years you owe $1500 even if sugar prices doubled within that timeHiw have you not thought this through? How high do you really expect sugar prices to go and how quickly?
>>61951498I've been living on nothing sugar for 10 years. Long enough to do the math on this deal. It's not a good investment plan.
If civilization actually collapses, it will unironically be the next bitcoin.I have a actually thought about this before too and made threads about it but it died with few replies. They even called it white gold at one point. It was a luxury for the elite for most of it's history.
>>6195135830 years ago it was fat, no it's sugar, what's next? Will protein by considered bad aswell in the future?
>>61952643You're a hummingbird, anon.
>>61952789Tbqh eating nothing but leafy greens is pretty shit.
>>61951399no it doesnt. Its one of the easiest foods to store too since it doesnt need oxygen absorbers. I took the OP pican update on storage: most mylar bags will have very small holes in the aluminum layer called pinholes. Its a bit distressing but it turns out to be no big deal as long as the other layers of the mylar bag are intact. even with 10-20 pinholes, <1000 ccs of oxygen will get into the bag per yearIt matters more for rice and beans, but sugar will be fine sitting in a 55 gallon drum even if the bag breaksactually sealing a 55 gallon bag full of food turned out to be cumbersome, so im waiting for a handheld heat sealer to get here
>>61952632for now its a practice exercise, if things really go to shit and i convince others we could rent a warehouse and start stockpiling. >How high do you really expect sugar prices to go and how quickly?americans today can buy 1 year of calories with 1 day of work, thats a really good deal. if theres ever a return to normal over the next few decades it would be at least a 10x in real terms, whatever $ price that turns out to be
I read a story once about a prepper who carved out a small hill on his property with a big digger, then had a 1 ton order of processed barnacle coal to be dumped in the hole. Then covered it up with dirt and reseeded. Future coal mine.
Why are you storing oil on top of the sugar? If the barrels leak the sugar is ruined. Clearly a storage safety violation here. Not the sugar thing if it for yourself. But how you are storing oil. You are going to get hit hard by an environmental safety inspector. Health inspector too if you plan to sell the sugar.
>honey lasts forever>mix sugar with honey>???????>PROFIT
>>61951734Lard is literally rendered pork fat. Wtf are you on about?
>>61951352>processed sugar is energy in a form ready for human consumptionNot really, once shit kicks off people realize sugar is empty calories and stop eating it. Sugar is the kind of thing people think is worth hoarding before they actually find themselves in a situation where they have to survive on hoarded food. Suddenly they realize they could do perfectly fine without sugar
first you get the sugar
>>61951352lmaofrom the thumbnail i thought you were a printer ink oligarch
>>61956896then you get the ants Homer
>>61951734>lard is just processed corn oilWhat? No it isn't
>>61951734>processed corn oilyou're thinking crisco, which is actually made from homosexual sweathttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crisco_Disco
>>61952789You're a fucking idiot, big industry demonised fat while promoting sugar and now we know that fast is actually good for you and sugar is trash.I'm almost 40, cut out sugar and got on fat and protein, lost all the love handles, feel like I'm fucking 18 again with my energy levels, and I'm not constantly tired all day long because I'm not consuming fucking carbs every hour like these fat bitches are doing. Six pack visible again, joints don't hurt and aren't inflamed, recovery has increased again, receding bleeding gums have grown back. Sugar is the fucking devil. Black coffee is an insane miracle drug for weight loss. It sounds like I'm full of shit, but that's because you faggots can't stop consuming your bread, sugar, pasta and other carbs. I do eat them from time to time, but five days of the week is just one meal a day full of vegetables and animal meat. The black coffee is made in a percolator and doesn't taste bitter. It's too simple so it sounds like I'm talking shit but only those who are in a diet like this and those who have tried black coffee, know that this simple diet without sugar and carbs is based and healthy.
>>61956980I always love how you x-fats are the most vitriolic against current fats. It’s hilarious.
>>61951358Blessed retard. Sugar can be used to make alcohol, to preserve fruits and is required for pretty much any baking. There will always be a want for sugar.
>>61951352this has to be a troll. I refuse to believe OP is dumb enough to do this. You fucking GROW trees that you process to extract sugar, fucking corn gives you sugar. Its never gonna be worth jack shit.If you could air-seal crude oil in barrels, and do like a thousand+ oil barrels like that, sure, that'd be worth alot in time. But sugar? you're a fucking meme bro.
>>61956980>It sounds like I'm full of shit,Worse, you sound like a midwit. Of course you are 18 again grandpa. Notice btw how this is /biz and not fucking /fit and no-one asked for your retarded diatribe on muh carbs. OP can definitely benefit from his plan, if shtf. Ofc since nothing ever happens you will probably just hold too much sugar for too long.
>>61952652>If civilization actually collapses, it will unironically be the next bitcoin.no it fucking wont retard.>hurr i want something sweet>what do?you grow apple, orange, or blueberry trees on your lands, and you pickle/preserve them. You want something to use as a preservative? its called vinegar.>>61956759it can be useful as a preservative for making fruit-jams and such. But you can also process the fruits themselves for the sugar, and sugar-cane crops are not hard to grow.>>61956928first thing i thought of lmao. Great troll thread, i got baited hard here.
>>61951352totally not a schizo plan that would get you killed in any real SHTF scenario where mobility matters
>>61951365That's because Ray was retarded, died young, and bioenergentics was a crock of shit. Humans aren't humming birds evolved or adapated to slurp simple sugars.Just eat what your ancestors ate. No, not your grain-slave peasent in recent history, that wasnt long enough for any adaptation.
>>61957142humans have been eating grains for about 50,000 years longer than we've been farming them. Maybe longer it's hard to tell based solely on archeologyin fact the only reliable method of judging how long we've been eating grains is by our adaptations, and we have a few of them
>>61956759Sugar is so worthless it’s responsible for white colonialism.
>>61957073
>>61957038Not even an exfat. Just had 4kgs extra on me and that's it. Literally always been slim and in shape. Love how you fat people are just cunts and despicable retards, bitter and jealous of anyone who has the ability to not scarf down sugar and calories like it's their final meal before execution.
>>61957161He said simple sugars you simpleton. Grains today are intentionally overly refined which causes them to act like simple carbs, aka sugar. KYS
>>61951399just salt it, like salted fish
It's a long road but if you work hard enough you'll be the worthy successor to pic related. Some Finnish guy bought multiple tons of sugar and stored in his sauna for peak oil and the inevitable 2012 armageddon.
>>61957038identity is just as much created from 'who we want to be' as it is from 'who we don't want to be'by denigrating fats the ex-fat policies his own behaviour. his verbal abuse cements his identity as a non-fat and thereby through subconscious mechanisms prevents him from acting out behaviour he associates with his shameful former status of being a disgusting stinking fatty.it only makes sense for him to hate on his former compatriots.
>>61954392>americans today can buy 1 year of calories with 1 day of work>>61951421>Are you saying I should diversify with lard?People won't be eating pure sugar. Although you don't have to be their sole supplier of goods so specializing in sugar is ok.
>>61956980>weight lossI don't trust anyone that conflates health with weight loss. Are you from California? If you want to lose weight just eat less. You can very easily be skinny and still be sick. I weigh 137 lbs btw, so don't accuse me of being a fat ass.
