international stocks (japan, korea, germany and other US slave states) are dead
they are highly dependent on the US for their performance
>>
>>61977990
>Fuck do I FOMO into oil??
problem is headline risk, going either direction.

I feel like oil trades in a range 80-120
go long at 80, short at 120
but shorts are asymmetric since if oil crashes they are still good.
but if oil crashes, then longs at 80 are crap.

I'm looking to snatch up some shorts if USO hits 130.
DRIP especially looks tasty, since it is oil companies. If the stock market crashes AND oil crashes, then those companies get destroyed.
but GUSH is not so good, since it is bull on companies. if stock market crashes, stocks go down, but even if oil is up, oil companies might not do so good.
So I think DRIP hits the target on two things I think will go down soon. as opposed to just shorting oil price with SCO
>>

>international stocks (japan, korea, germany and other US slave states) are dead

I agree, and if the us stock market crashes, then they crash too
but what about after? is the meme gone, or do international stocks outperform in the recovery?
I'm thinking they get left in the dust again
it was a good meme for a year since the tariff tantrum. but now it's gone

well if you zoom out back to the 2022 oil shock because of the ukraine war the recovery was about the same speed. If you look at the big one in 2008 the shit and piss recovered in 3 years but many EU countries are still struggling to recover from those highs, and those that did it took them about 15 years, with germany being the fastest, it took 5 years (with inflation not taken into account). Nikkei got obliterated in the 90s and if you account for inflation it just recovered from there. China and japan would be extremely sensitive to the oil shock so i dont really see them recovering faster than the rest of the world.
>past pooformance doesnt guarantee futa results

>>
>>61978040 #
Nobody knows exactly what’s happening behind closed doors besides insiders, but some weird shit magically happened Monday, and US crude is nowhere near aligned with foreign oil markets. It seems like they are selling futures contracts they don’t have the oil to back.

this is one of the reasons I'm hesitant on international stocks
yeah they had a great year, especially compared to the s&P500.
but that was just 1 year. after 20 years of garbage
that was clearly just a rotation away from us stocks, not because the foreign countries were actually doing well
though some of them were, like EWY, which is basically just "AI feeder companies ex US", combing 2 trends into one super trend.
>China and japan would be extremely sensitive to the oil shock so i dont really see them recovering faster than the rest of the world.
good point. developed countries ex us are really dependent on energy, while us is just about the only one which is a net energy exporter
ooooh
maybe I could do norway. or other countries that are big oil countries.
>>
Hey AI!
tell me about countries in the developed ex us index that are energy independent vs dependent
yeah that about makes sense compared to what I remember
I think australia just keeps winning. not sure I like canada or norway. but maybe norway is good.
south korea for sure is ooof

Country Net Export Status Primary Export Risk Profile
Norway High Surplus Oil & Natural Gas Hedge: Profits from high prices
Canada High Surplus Crude Oil Hedge: Energy sector buffers GDP
Australia Surplus LNG & Coal Mixed: Exposed to oil, but LNG winner
UK Deficit (Declining Oil/Gas) Exposed: Net importer since mid-2000s
Germany High Deficit None (Industrial) High Risk: Manufacturing hit by costs
Japan Critical Deficit None Extreme Risk: Vulnerable to sea-lane blocks
>>
>>61978065
>>61978062
looks like norway could be the way to go
many if not all of the other countries have taken a dip
even canada and australia, though they are also energy exporters
but norway is one of the ones that has just kept going
very interesting!

and holy shit, if you include the run up to the tariff tantrum, norway did the best out of all of them
starting from that timepoint, norway has done really well

not sure if that means I should buy more of it now, but it's very interesting.

okay so, apparently 30% of their stock market is commodities, including oil
so if oil prices crash, then norway probably doesn't do too well.
but for now, if you're looking for ex us energy independent countries, or oil producers ex us or whatever, then norway is a good bet

There's a lot of bullshit in this article but this stuck out to me
>The U.S. has been refilling the SPR with money earmarked in last year’s reconciliation bill. A plan! It will now release 172 million barrels, and here’s a fun aside: Rather than sell it straight (as the Biden team did), Mr. Wright is exchanging it on the market for futures contracts (which are currently betting prices will fall). This means the Strategic Petroleum Reserve will get back 200 million barrels for the price of its 172 million.

Being held up with the convoy / navy escort narrative. Trump's been erratic but Bessent as treasury sec has commented extensively on it in the financial press. People are waiting to see
Convoys actually work historically but that was before drones kek. It also is still slow to wait for for a convoy to form if you're a filled up tanker ready to go, so it's not gonna bring throughput back to normal anyway.

yeah they need to secure supplies... its all well and good the US being 'energy independent' at the very highest level but theres a lot that goes on beneath that regarding imports/exports of derivatives/chemicals and products all over the world, all reliant on this market etc

then theres the wider cost... companies still need the oil - they might get it still, but its costing them MUCH more, and many don't have the margin that big to swallow it

then we consider if this brings the global economy into recession with it... it moves into other sectors like finance and it all falls apart, everywhere

even the CME the most fucked up scammers out there have warned against this

>Are gold and silver miners good to buy right now?
>They're kind of low like they were early this year.
if gold and silver crash, then the miners do too
and both gold and silver are risk on assets. silver especially is like a meme stock
gold trades like the S&P.

>>61978476
>Then mining slows down which makes gold and silver even more scarce and increases their prices.
>What about buying 50/50 bullion and miners?
gold supply increases by like 1% each year. cutoff the miners and it hardly affects the price
this sort of argument also applies to bitcoin, considering how little bitcoin can be mined now due to halving, and it's just as retarded

99% of the price action is determined by what people who already have gold do. And right now gold has turned into a risk on asset.
people buy it because line go up. that makes line go up even more.
now it's parabolic. it was racing the s and p.
what happens when line goes down? the dummies who turned it into a risk on asset will drop it.
then it will become a save haven asset again.

>>61978481
>Is there any actual scenario where silver and gold hit reverse and go back to normal prices? What would have to happen?

outside of the metals manipulation, it'll ebb and flow between the two

they keep mining, costs to extract goes up due to fuel and they don't make as much

they stop mining as much, then metals go up, so does their theoretical value in the ground, but they can't exploit it in volume sold

high input costs through fuel increases is a headwind on top of the usual supply/demand/market manipulation

>What happens to this remarkable plan when prices don't fall?
They always can make oil prics fall bigly, when needed, by removing all sanctions on Iran and Russia.
Never mind any previous criticism they may have had against those two countries, or any allies that may feel betrayed.
>>
>releasing oil reserves wasn't enough
>so we are now ending some sanctions on Russia
This really doesn't look like we have the situation under control
>>
>>61978596
Literally killed the group in power who put a religious edict out against making nuclear weapons and then pull out of the nuclear deal because your handler bibi wanted to attack Iran . Iran is going to be a nuclear power within the next ten years bud , and this accelerated it.
>>
>>61978595
It’s not betting against the US military to think it’s unreasonable for them completely clear the strait. Trump admin is probably correct when they boast about how much they’ve degraded Iran, but it doesn’t take much to lay some mines or send a few drones and sink some oil tankers. I think the only reason oil isn’t higher/equities lower is that everyone still expects trump to declare victory and leave before the pain really starts. It’s also pricing in that Iran will stop attacking shipping if he does so, which I think is less certain. They might, if they feel they’ve made their point. Being able to tank the world economy with some drones/mines should be enough of a deterrence that they will know Israel/US won’t just attack them again in a few years.

why does everyone act like iran either doesn't care or enjoys being bombed and sanctioned? iran is under a lot of pressure and mining the strait isn't mastermind activated my trap card reverse uno, it's desperation and it hurts them worst of all, they rely on that strait more than anyone. iran should make a deal soon instead of sacrificing it's people for chinese interests, and eventually i think they'll come around to that.
>>
>>61978014
telling trump not to do the retarded thing only encourages him to do the retarded thing more
>>
>>61978639
>arm client state called Israel with nukes and everything else
>said client state known for bombing nuclear programs of nearby countries
>Iranians put their centrifuges underground and allow IAEA inspections
>THIS IS PROOF THAT YOU'RE BUILDING A BOMB!!!
If Iran had above ground enrichment plants, the Israelis would have bombed them much sooner.
>>
>>61978592
No by us I mean Israelis, by Americans I mean Americans. So lets play hypotheticals, say we sat back with our dick in our hands, and waited for Iran to get a FUN-SIZED tactical nuke, and they have one of their groups like Hell's Army, or the Hooties, launch it at Tel Aviv or brought it to some european city nobody cares about detonated the mother fucker? Then they claim it wasn't us it was the Hooties or the Hell's Army, they aren't us. So you can't even trigger article 5 to go after them because they channeled the attack through an intermediary, but now you've got a nuclear armed Iran pointing these fucking things at everyone, every Arab state will immediately claim they need nukes too. So now you've got 100s of 1000s of dead shit skins in this western city, and the public backing a response, but you're playing against a regime with a much stronger hand, a hand capable of destroying the world. I take it most of the people who oppose this special combat operation are the same people who want light sentences for niggers who commit crimes, it's like niggers are going to nig, just throw their asses in prison and move on. When you've got a crazy regime in power that says we're going to wipe Israel off the map, it's probably best to believe them boss.
>>
>>61978645
We're in this weird spot where half the republican party is still boomers are believe that the modern Israel is the Israel in the Bible and therefore we must fight and die for it.

And the other half are a bunch of millennial and gen z literal nazi's. Boots on the ground would be an absolute disaster and might see protests. I don't think we'd ever get a draft because we'd need a metric assload of casualties for that and we should stop before it ever gets to that point

On top of the obvious mutually assured destruction and Samson Option if Israel gets nuked, they'd just shoot back with their nukes... We're dealing with people so radicalized by their religious leaders, they don't care if the whole world burns because they will still get their dick wet in the afterlife boss.

>>

I just got a haircut and my conservative religious hairdresser called Trump "orange man" and bitched about gas prices and the war, I mean special combat operation. I think the only people who can possibly still think this was a good idea are hardcore magatards. My boomer neighbor sent me a link to a Youtube video where a guy was doing mental gymnastics to justify all the shit in Iran, talking about how we needed to do this to fuck over China. Ok bro
>>
>>61978649
I agree that it would be in their interests to open up the straits once US/Israel stops bombing them. Although some of their military leaders have said otherwise iirc
>>

> let’s not talk about hypotheticals

This time it was different. The Iranian delegation flat out told our diplomats they had enough material to make 11 bombs, and that it was their G_d given right to make atomic bombs. You can claim boy who cried wolf or stick your head up your ass and believe whatever the fuck you want, but this was what the Iranians told us, and why we responded the way we did so quickly. These were pre-emptive retaliatory strikes, well within our rights boss.
