What's the most feasible way for someone that makes $60k a year to live on their own? Is the only option shitty cheap apartments? Do I just need to better allocate my finances?

Sell all your furniture and belongings, put it into socks

so $60k a year is $5k gross monthly, and most places require 3x the rent in monthly gross income. Which means your max rent budget would be $1,666.66/mo.

After taxes it’s probably more like $42-$48k annually, at least from my experience. You can definitely put a bit moe towards rent if you live frugal and have no debt at least.
