Noob American investor here. How do I invest in non WTI oil futures (basically, not USO)?

I did make some money off of the USO last week, gambling a large portion of my net worth, but am currently just holding cash. I expect this conflict to drag on at least for weeks, maybe months, which at this point, seems to be a fairly common opinion.

I see Trump as having at least 2 large cards yet to be played: unsanctioning Russian oil (which he will do if he has to, to keep the war going longer for Israel), and doing some sort of export ban/massive export tariff on American oil products, which wont improve global supply, but should ease the "feeling at the gas station" public pressure effect. Whether the latter is legal or constitutional or not is irrelevant, as it will tank the USO (based on WTI futures) instantly, and will take a while to be overridden by courts, if it ever is.

So any suggestions on non meme shit to put a lot of money in? I am willing to gamble that this conflict will drag on for an extended period, but being all in on WTI barrels just seems like the worst possible option. I would like to stay long for days/weeks (if I can stomach the daily volatility...).

Basically, looking for something that tracks "global oil price", or at least Brent instead, rather than a US producer like WTI. Any suggestions?

>gambling a large portion of my net worth, but am currently just holding cash
The key to not lose your net worth is risk management. Choose the size of your trades wisely. A rule of thumb is that you should not lose more than 1% of your net worth in any single trade if it goes wrong
For example, if you put 10k $ into a trade and it unexpectedly goes -10%, you would lose 1k. Which is fine if your net worth was 100k and you don't do losing trades too often.

So answer me this smg, I can just buy some nivida puts for September. Probably cost me 60 dollars, so you are saying if there is a massive crash because of this desert shit I will still be protected because what if make from the puts is what I’d lose from my portfolio? So it’s kinda like insurance have I got this right?
>>
>>62004102
That seems like good advice, thank you. But... I rarely play on the market (just sit in safe suggestions from my accountant, otherwise), so feel like "knowing" that global oil prices will rise is a rare option to make some real money via larger gambles, one of which did work, so far.
So basically, this is a rare outing for me, hence the added risk seeming to make sense.

While this shitshow seems to be getting worse all the time, something is happening in the background which not everybody may be aware off.
US airforce is pounding Iran coastal sites every day, and some analysts think it would take about two weeks to degrade their capabilities sufficiently to attempt running ships through the Strait of Hormuz again.
Also the talks about allied navies sending ships ships from Europe / East Asia, which appear to have ended in a clusterfuck and Trump hating all of Europe, were misleading. The obvious countries to contribute in escorting the tankers are the adjacent Gulf states. Their navies and air forces are not extremely capable, but should do OK at defending against small Iranian boats if Iran's coastal missile capabilities are degraded enough.

Israel is a LNG exporter so they make money from the current high prices, they don't care about the other economic consequences of this shitshow. What they're most interested in is to remove Iran as sponsor of terrorism. If Iran mellows down like Japan and Germany did after WW2, swearing non-aggression in the future and structuring their forces accordingly, this will end and everyone will be happy and trade with each other.

You think?
I just see this posted 1 hour ago:
https://oilprice.com/Latest-Energy-News/World-News/Oil-Prices-Could-Hit-150-If-War-Continues-Through-End-of-March.html
>“With this huge outage of supply it is just a matter of time where prices really catch up with the fundamentals here and we just see how bad things are,” Amena Bakr, Kpler’s Head of Middle East and OPEC+ Insights, told CNBC International.

Seems legit to me. But then again, I am too pleb to explain why WTI isn't up in pic related from oilprice.com, but Brent is.

>>62004145
I don't think they will, since the US could pull out at some point, and leave them in a state of war with a more powerful neighbor. Also, being actually involved in the war will expose too many other delicate, high value targets, like tourist trap skyscrapers.

Of course, I am seeking a non WTI oil futures investment, but just for the sake of argument, I"m using WTI/USO here. I think the conflict will go on longer than the market expects, is my bet.

I picked QQQ to be exposed to the powerhouse of the US economy: tech innovations.
And China is quite separated from the US nowadays, which makes it a perfect pickfor true portfolio diversification.

I'm going to tell you a little secret that ghe market doesn't know about - our "tech innovation" for the last 4 years has been the equivalent of VW cheating emissions tests to get their cars sold. The biggest innovations in modern tech are figuring out how to cheat and outright steal from tour customers without getting caught by complience testers. Look at what Honey did for years - thats innovation in tech. Look at microsofts news games CEO - she was Instacarts CEO for years and her main initiative was an AI price gouging bot that was able to run for YEARS undetected (they were sued by several countries and lost). There is no "innovation" in tech anymore, we hit the plateau.

USO bros, why select USO when we can select BNO? It has 10% of the volume, but that likely doesn't matter, and it seems like it is a much smoother ride with less heart stopping severe drops... and Trump can't limit the exportation of it. Europe is going to be fucked (as usual) more than the USA by these events, too, so tracking Brent seems more logical to me.

Ignoring the advantage BNO seems to have just for today, they track quite similarly, just seems like less stress to be invested into since softer dips.
Anything I am missing here? Any reason not to long BNO if I want to long oil for a week or so?

Pic related.

>In February 2011, WTI was trading around $85/barrel while Brent was at $103/barrel. The reason most cited for this difference was that Cushing had reached capacity due to a surplus of oil in the interior of North America. At the same time, Brent moved up in reaction to civil unrest in Egypt and across the Middle East. Since WTI-priced stockpiles at Cushing could not easily be transported to the Gulf Coast, WTI crude was unable to be arbitraged in bringing the two prices back to parity. Oil prices at coastal areas of the United States were closer to Brent than to WTI. In June 2012, the Seaway Pipeline, which had been transporting oil from the Gulf Coast to Cushing, reversed its flow direction, to transport WTI-priced crude to the Gulf Coast, where it received Brent prices. The price difference persisted, however, and was large enough that some oil producers in North Dakota put their oil on tanker cars, and shipped it by rail to the Gulf and East Coast, where it received Brent prices
>Brent continued to trade $10–20 higher than WTI for two years, until June 2013.

Trump isn't wrong when he says the "oil shock" is only a European concern and the fact they don't want to protect Hormuz shows they're not serious people
